Summary: Excellent for believers
Review: Sylvia does give great advice, no doubt. And she does seem to know what she's talking about. But to me, she looses a little credibility when I hear she charges [$$$] per question to ask her Spirit Guide Francine something. I know she has to make a living too, but if she's really here to help people she wouldn't charge exorbitant fees for a reading.

However, I am happy she exposes the tricks of true frauds and their techniques. She is so correct on the silliness of voodoo and curses, and how they do not exist.

I hope with all my heart she's the real deal. I would love for everything she says to be true, but in the back of my mind I'll never really know for sure. When I see her on TV talking to someone about there dead loved one, she'll describe them as "beautiful eyes, sharp features, oval shaped face, and a sweet smile". That could be ANYONE. EVERYONE thinks their loved one is a beautiful person.

In any case, it's a good book. I recommend it, see what you think.

Summary: Still Good, but liked Adventures of a Psychic more
Review: THE OTHER SIDE AND BACK is informative and great fun to read, but there's a whole lot of repetition here for those who've read ADVENTURES OF A PSYCHIC. Also, if you've been reading metaphysical books for a while, you might find that you already know about a great deal of the stuff in here. It's still a great read though, with Sylvia's personal touch.

If you're either fairly fresh to the psychic field or are a Sylvia Browne fan, there's no harm in checking this book out. It's rather enjoyable and easy to digest.

Summary: A BIT OF HEAVEN
Review: This books is one of the most valued books I own. I read it first and immediately bought all the other ones she's written and read them all. None could compare to this one. It explains many of the spiritual wonderings that we all have. I read this book twice because I didn't want to put it down. Sylvia has such a gift and she graciously shares the fruits of it with us all.

Summary: Ever wondered...there MUST be MORE to life than this?
Review: This was the 1st book of Sylvia Browne's that I read and after it...I immediately went out and bought one by one, all of her other books! Such an excellent explanation in layman's terms for people like me, who KNEW NOTHING but also felt there HAD to be more to this life than appreared. I had not heard anything about the 'other worlds' that ARE really out there and always wondered how it worked. Sylvia is so pure, understanding of our daily struggles and gives us an practical understanding of what energies are at work, on much 'higher levels' and not to be afraid of them. We are all part of and one with this great universal energy. This book lead to my MOST favorite book, another VERY PRACTICAL "One-Minute Guide To Prosperity and Enlightenment" by Sri Siva. Written for 'the average person' to understand and practical applications that can change you life right now!
Thanks Sylvia for bringing me along my path to 'peace and prosperity'!

Summary: Insight, humor and common sense
Review: The interesting introduction by neuroscientist Melvin L. Morse refers to the work of evolutionary biologist Rupert Sheldrake and physicist Paul Davis. Browne's own style is conversational, even folksy, and quite engaging as there's lots of common sense, humor and positivity. She deals with subjects like inter alia miracles, déjà vu, coincidence, synchronicity, astral travel and the development of the individual's psychic abilities. Her take on the soul-mate myth made me laugh while her explanation of imprints, kinetic energy, hauntings, ghosts and spirits are informative and interesting, whether you agree or not. The chapter on psychic protection is valuable, while her warnings against cults should be taken seriously by everyone. Helpful meditations are provided, for example one for examining past lives. She's very honest in stating that no psychic is able to make correct predictions all the time and admitting her own failures. In this regard, her chapter of predictions for the new millennium does contain some errors, e.g. that breast cancer would be preventable and curable by the end of 1999. The book concludes with an appendix of affirmations. Although this work has inspired a fair deal of negative criticism and although there are aspects of her cosmology that I disagree with or that I consider too simplified, there's no denying that The Other Side is an enjoyable reading experience. One doesn't have to agree with everything to derive enormous insight and pleasure from this book.

Summary: Great book!
Review: If you ever wanted to know what happens when you die READ THIS BOOK. The is so much information in this book it is definitly a good buy. The best thing about the book is the format in which it was written. She uses a question - answer format which makes it a great book even if you really don't like reading much. You can go to the questions you mostly want answered. I have read most all of Sylvia's books and I have yet to pick up one that I could not put down.

Summary: a must for any person with metaphysical interests
Review: If you find comfort in the chapters of this book; if you learned something about yourself or others; if it makes you a better person, than this book has served its purpose. I understand that a lot of people, with or without Near-Death-Experiences, might be doubtful or even critical, since the whole afterlife described by Sylvia and Francine sounds like a fairy tale. So read the book, erase the parts in your mind that you do not believe or do not find logical, and grow with the rest that the book has to offer. I think that is the whole purpose of Sylvia writing this book. Certainly better than Dr.(?) Richard Steinpach's view on "Why we live after death" That one scared...me! Sylvia's view helped me, made me think about life/death different, and believe me, I've read every book there is on the subject of reincarnation and afterlife. "Thanks for sharing Sylvia!"

Summary: One of the best Sylvia Browne books
Review: Sylvia Browne is an excellent writer, but this book is one of the better works that provides insight into our "higher purpose" in life.

Summary: A Bubblehead's Guide to the Other Side
Review: This book would be more aptly titled "A Bubblehead's Guide to the Other Side".

If you are looking for an intelligent, insightful book seriously discussing pyschic mediumship, the possibility of an "Other Side" and psychic experiences with the "Other Side", this is not the book for you. Far better books are ONE LAST TIME by John Edward and WE DON'T DIE by Joel Martin & Patricia Romanowski.

This Sylvia Browne book, except for very rare instances, is childish, trite, shallow and superficial.

Ms Browne's description of the "Other Side" puts a rather shallow bent on spiritual existence. "... and homes designed to meet every entity's personal perference, so that a stately Victorian mansion might share a neighborhood with a simple log cabin and a geodesic dome." (I wonder who mows the lawn? Do husbands still have to take out the trash?)

Her physical description of the entities on the "Other Side" gives an image of the "Other Side" as a combo workout gym, plastic surgery suite and hair salon. "...in their day-to-day lives on the Other Side, not only are they (all) thirty (years old) but they also can choose their own physical attributes, from height to weight to hair color."

I think most people imagine the spiritual world to be on a higher plane beyond the egocentric concerns for physical beauty, hair color and impressiveness of your house.

If you imagine the "other side" as Beverly Hills, Californa, this is your book.

If you imagine the "Other Side" as a place beyond earthly issues of ego and bodily beauty and material acquisition, there are far better books.
