Summary: Finally a book that combines the beauty of nature & spirit.
Review: I just want to share one quick gift that I received from this book. My employess were having challenges at work with inter-personal bickering, etc. and I requested that they read a chapter titled,"Work as a Poetics of Growth". The results were glorious and heartfelt. Tears of love were shed and many important considerations were addressed. And to think, this is just one chapter of the most important wisdoms that are shared by Mr. O'Donohue. In fact I am ordering 20 books for those employees.

Summary: The Clay of My Clay
Review: I was truly caught up in the beautiful way this book was written. It is very lyrical, gentle, and poetic. If ever you want to believe in a passionate existence where there are connections made with a "soul friend," this is the book to read. It is not a dry dusty tomb of a book. It's like warm sun on a spring day.

Summary: Colors are the wounds of light
Review: In the Prologue, the author describes this book as "a phenomenology of friendship in a lyrical-speculative form." That is exactly what it is. It is one of the most compelling and lyrical works that I have read. It describes the "soul-friend" but more significantly it actually suggested the possibility of me becoming my own soul's friend. It is a powerful book, weaving Celtic mystical thought with a very accessible form of approaching self and soul -- all done in a rich, poetic language. It reads very well and John O'Donohue's erudition, poetic language and abiding compassion radiate every page.

This book gave me strength and deep insight at a time when I was searching for both of these. I greatly appreciate this book's contribution to my own understanding of self and highly recommend it to you if, like me, you recognize that you are on a spiritual journey.

Summary: life-altering... don't miss it
Review: In time of spiritual confusion, political apathy, and material obscenity Anam Cara offers a simple gift. Perfect for randomly opening and finding passages to soothe your soul. Anam Cara is Gaelic for "soul friend" and this book not only acts as a soul friiend but inspires you to nurture your own soul friends. Read it. Give it to your friends. A parting wish for the reader from the opening of Anam Cara:

"On the day when
the weight deadens
on your shoulders
and you stumble,
may the clay dance
to balance you........"
