Rating: Summary: A great gift for someone you love Review: I just gave this book to my boyfriend for his birthday and he loved it! The drawings are absolutely gorgeous and the look of the book lives up to its literary content. The story itself is simple and timeless, and I think anybody from any faith can find meaning and security in it. It is also very inspiring- it encourages you to follow the spiritual path that you feel most connected to living. Give it to somebody you love and they will thank you for it!
Rating: Summary: An illuminating story for all faiths and ages Review: I love this book -- with its wondrous tale of adventure, the sensitively written characters, and most of all, the lessons of the heart to be gleaned in the book's central premise -- that the Universe does all it can to help when one is brave enough to follow one's own dreams, and that you ignore the lessons of the heart at your own peril. This is probably the second or third time I've read the book, but this edition -- with enchanting illustrations by Moebius -- is a special treat, and I read the book completely transfixed! The story, the drawings, and the beautiful typography all combine to form a sensuous, exquisite reading experience. Do get the book, and it's the perfect gift for a loved one for your own self.
Rating: Summary: Great reading Review: I loved this book. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down until it was finished. It struck a marvelous chord in my Middle-eastern psyche.
Rating: Summary: The second book I loved Review: I thought there is no other book like "The Little Prince" until I found this book. It remind me of the past, and it made me so passionate about it. This is the second book I love and I would love to introduce this book to the people around the world.... who is searching the treasure, or the fulfilling their dreams, love. The Omen, a lot of people treat it as a sign of God, for me, I treat it as an art; the art of senses. And I loved what Paulo talked about "The Beginner's Luck". Very closely related to my experience in life. Read it, I bet you will fall in love with it. Read it with a pure and simple heart. If you are too realistic, I dont recommend this book to you.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: I wish I could give the author Paulo Coelho and this book a million stars. This book taught me to embrace my dreams and I am so thankful to this book and author. Thank you for writing so soulfully Mr. Paulo Coelo.
Rating: Summary: Senor Coelho, You're better than this Review: I've just reached p. 155 of the Illustrated Alchemist. It's a beautiful book: beautiful story, beautiful pictures, beautiful paper. Lots of space between the lines. But Mr. Coelho, c'mon, enough already. You know better than that. There's more of the world's truth in Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, than in the Alchemist and the Shepherd. But, hey, it's 2 a.m. and I'm only on p. 155. Let's see how it ends.
Rating: Summary: Touched my soul Review: I've read many books in my lifetime, but none have had the same effect on my life as this one. Disguised as a beautiful story, lies many truths that make you think and examine your own life. It gives you a different viewpoint on life, it opens your eyes to so many things you never really stopped to think about before. I felt so refreshed after reading this book. I would recommend all of Paulo Coelho's books to everyone. I've read the Alchemist, Veronika Decides to Die, and By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept. They each had thier own affect, depending on your own personal situation.
