Rating: Summary: great book! Review: I think this book is a must-have for everyone. Even though you are not a Satanist, read it, you'll like it.
Rating: Summary: A fun bit of common sense followed by a lot of yak dung Review: I will admit that I have not read the entire thing. ONLY BECAUSE I CAN'T. The first half consists of the whole satanist philosophy, but then Anton LaVey proceeds to contradict himself by adding an extensive section on rituals. This is the part I could not swallow. (but hey! I tried to open the gates of hell on my TV screen, and when I turned it on FULL HOUSE was on, so it might not be all bunk after all!) Overall: VERY interesting the first 100 pages, But just a silly coffee table or toiletside book after that.
Rating: Summary: Great book if you would like to know about Satanism! Review: I've read the book and it's very enlightening. Anton LaVey's teaching's are magnificent and intelligent! If you want to call yourself a satanist then buy this book and read it!
Rating: Summary: Excellent reference guide for modern satanism. Review: Anton Szandor Lavey is considered one of the most authoritative figures in modern Satanism today. The Satanic Bible is not only a general guide to Satanism, it is also a humorous and insightful look into a fascinating man.
Rating: Summary: What a hoot! Review: LaVey (Lavey, or whoever it is being spelled this week...) was one of the greatest self-promoting con-men of this century. He was probably as much a "satanist" as Marilyn Manson, Alice Cooper, or any of the others. It made for good copy in the press, allowed him to get drugs and sex, and made him famous in at least a limited circle. This book is a grand mishmash of information, misinformation, self-aggrandizement, and other silliness. Get it if you want to read what kids listening to heavy metal think "anti-Christianity" is all about, but expect nothing serious or real. Oh, and if I can ever find a "serious" Satanist, I will be very amused. The only ones I have ever found have been very silly indeed.
Rating: Summary: a great book a must have!!!!!!!! Review: As a natural born satanist this book changed my life for the better.this book will show you the truth behind satanism.insead of what the hypocritical christians feed the people.
Rating: Summary: Satanism for Dummies Review: Good book for starters. The rituals really make the book worth reading. My advice, buy it.
Rating: Summary: Why? Review: Why do people see this as a chance to preach to all the people that are interested in Satanism and the teachings of Anton Szandor LaVey? Obviously the peoson who tried to tell us that he was LaVey, could have at least humored the rest of us with a good story. Instead of not even getting his facts right. If you have read this book you know that Anton LaVey passed away on October 29, 1996. Although his death certificate says October 31, 1996. All of the people who are here to criticize The Satanic Bible should research what you are defending. Maybe actually read the book. Hail Satan
Rating: Summary: The road to enlightenment begins here. Review: This is a wonderful tool for the person who TRULY WANTS to understand satanism. If you are going to read it w/the mindset that it is an evil and blasphemous tome...DON'T. You will be wasting your time and money, and probably wont understand it anyway.
Rating: Summary: LaVey is the philosopher of this age, the SB is insightful. Review: From the master of the"satanic age" comes the most thought provoking and intellectualy stimulating religeous work ever created: The Satanic Bible. Based opon the principals of living life to it's fullest and questioning everything that doesn't make sence, this book apeals to the reason within people. LaVey is to the point and at times humerous in his cynical, yet correct and common sence, observations about religeon and human nature. His principals: Go with your instincts, challenge things that are forced fed to you, question everything, and live each day for the joy it can bring to you! The book, beginning with the 9 Satanic statements ( a counter attack on the 10 comandments) , makes sence and apeals to the ego. LaVey points out that peodple are not inherantley evil, we all have instincts that are our nature, to deny it is non-senceical, and a folly to yourself and those around you. This work is a must read for anyone needing a refreshing look at socioty and religeon, or looking for a way not to go to "hell" for eveything they do. The most consice and reasonable outlook on life is throught the gates of hell, and the reading of the Satanic Bible.
