Summary: Silver Ravenwolf's Encyclopedia
Review: In the introduction of this book, Silver Ravenwolf states "How you use this book is entirely up to you. Feel free to skip over the parts that you already know, or read each section in alphabetical order - doesn't matter." ... "On the other hand, if you feel the information is too basic, I beg your indulgence - it isn't my desire to insult your intelligence, I'm simply trying to find a happy medium." She does manage to find that happy medium in this "ultimate" encyclopedia.

This is an encyclopedia/dictionary of terms, ideas, celebrations, rituals and Witchcraft in the Tradition of Silver Ravenwolf. She has put together a massive handbook for those who follow her path, and it is just a huge undertaking on her part.

The book is put together in five parts, covering 'Shadows of Religion & Mystery', 'Shadows of Objects and Tools', 'Shadows of Expertise & Proficiency', 'Shadows of Magick & Enchantment' and 'Shadows of Magick and Real Life'. Each section covers elements of the craft and discusses them in modern terms.

This is Silver Ravenwolf's Tradition and her version of the Craft. "Cakes and Ale" are described as "Communion" and Angels are included in "Spirit Guides". All the material echoes her previous works and is meant for the individual who follows this particular path.

Her approach in this huge work is to provide the Solitary Practitioner with reference material to help them along on their spiritual journey. She has gone into great detail, amassing a huge volume of work. The work includes a good table of contents, a bibliography, and is indexed.

The followers of Silver Ravenwolf will find this book to be a complete compilation of her work and a good reference for their work as Solitary Witches.

Summary: Solitary Witch: The Ultimate Book of Shadows....
Review: INDEED! This is the ULTIMATE book of shadows! It is comprehensive, in depth and gives one profound insight into The Craft. Silver writes with her usual humor, sincerity and groundedness. As a purveyor of many different "Books of Shadows", and other Pagan and Wiccan authors, I give this one a A++. She goes into depth on many, mnay subjects related to the Craft. It is deep, yet understandable and not at all "wu-wu." The only thing I can't understand is why people think it's mainly for the younger generation. I'm 51 and very well read and I found this masterpiece truly enlightening!
Many thanks, kudos and blessings to Silver for helping us all on our individual and sometimes lonely paths!
Sincerely,
Moonrose (Kathleen Wilson)

Summary: Outstanding!
Review: I am a Solitary Witch and have been practicing for a number of years. I have always enjoyed learning new things about my religion and Silver Ravenwolf has done an excellent job in what the Craft is all about. I am looking forward to a sequel to the Solitary Witch. Thanks Silver! Richard

Summary: slow start, but she makes up for it!
Review: When I first started to read my copy of the book, I must admit I got a little bored :( I found it a little tedious the first 50 or so pages, but after that initial akwardness, it was everything I had expected and more! If you want to be a part of the Pagan community, this book is very helpful. Silver discusses some of the social issues involved with being Wiccan/Pagan, which is very important to know. But more than that this book has accurate well rounded information and the wonderful annectodes we have all love. The book also teaches moral responsibility to readers, which is nice to see someone take on. Great read, stick with it!

Summary: A Excellent Book by Silver
Review: I am a huge Silver fan, so naturally, when this book came out, I had to order it. I havn't read the entire book, but it is a great book. She has prayers, spells, rites, lore, history, astrology,mythology...it just goes on and on. This book is aimed at teens and adults. This is a must for any Wiccan Books collection.

Summary: A Bit Misleading
Review: This book IS another great one in Silver's collection, and it fits the same from the heart style we're all used to. It has loads of information and a lot of research useful to anyone. However, this book recieved only 4 stars from me because this book seems geared towards teens again(spells for lockers, teachers, acne, crushes)and nothing in its desciption or preface elludes to that. Not that there is anything wrong with that, and she does have plenty of info for adults, but I was expecting an adult title and it seems like she is talking straight to young adults. But it is a great addition to any collection, and I do recommend it if you like Silver's other titles.

Summary: Great Reference Book for the beginner to intermediate
Review: I found this book full on bite sized information. It isn't a book you read from cover to cover, but it is an organized reference tool. I was written for the reader who may be too busy to do any major reading, but it give enough info on so many subjects, plus website and other books are given through out so when you do get time, you can do a more through study of a particular subject.

Summary: Great Book for Teen Witches
Review: Oh! My! God/dess! I'm a 15-year-old wiccan student, and I found this book at a Borders store two days ago. Since then, I've been reading it voraciously, stopping occasionally for things like eating and sleeping. There are some excellent blessings, prayers, and meditations, as well as creative ideas for the sabbats - even techniques for astral travel. As the title 'Solitary Witch' might suggest, the information in the book is of greatest use to individual pagans, instead of covens. I reccomend this book to anyone studying or practicing Wicca - it's really an excellent reference for anyone in the Goddess crowd.

Summary: Excellent resource
Review: So I bought this book because I love Silver's other books. Wow! It is huge and full of information. In fact, it's one of those only book on wicca that you need. I agree that it is geared toward the already practicing wiccan but there is so much info that it is accessible to anyone who practices. Love it.
