Summary: Be, Do or Have ANYTHING!
Review: "There is nothing you cannot be, do or have" pretty much sums up the Abraham teachings perfectly.

For years, I thought life had to be a struggle, the world was full of wrongs to be righted and that we had to prove ourselves worthy in some way in our lives to something or someone - whether physical or non-physical. The non-dogmatic, non-preachy Abraham teachings changed my view of the world completely.

Now I sit back and relax, let my thoughts and desires flow and life just gets better and better. I pretty much get everything I want these days and things I don't quite have in the bag yet are well on the way. Even after just a year of playing with the Abraham ideas, I find myself looking at other people in the world and wondering why they make things so hard on themselves.

You see, life is a choice - and it is much more of a choice than many of us dare believe. And we can choose to live life the "hard" way with lots of suffering or we can live it the "easy" way with ever-increasing freedom, growth and joy.

I now know that every single little thing that every occurs in my day-to-day existence is something that I have deliberately created and I now know exactly how to control all those things.

Do yourself a favour - forget all the emotional/religious/psychological baggage you've been carrying all your life and just learn how the natural laws of the Universe really work. One thing is for sure...you'll never look at life the same way again.

Summary: A goldmine of truth
Review: After scouring new age book stores for years, and reading literally hundreds of books, I happened on this book (and Vol. 2) and I honestly say my life has changed for the better in so many ways. This is absolutely the most workable, practical sky-is-the-limit philosophy I've ever encountered. And thankfully every word of it has translated into whole new vistas of joy in my life (and about 20 other friends who I have turned on to it). I have watched it change lives when applied even to a small degree. If you want new age dogma, or complicated ritual and significance, go elsewhere. If you want something that works (and it's easy and fun!) THIS IS IT.

Summary: Life Changing!
Review: Did you ever really want something and it didn't work out the way you wanted it to? Have you ever been in a relationship and suddenly all you could see were the persons faults and you wondered how you could have missed them for so long? Well, there are reasons for this. And while this book is 'metaphysical' which may not appeal to some, it explains an awful lot, and once you look at the explanations, you will realize why things didn't work out the way your wanted, and you will know how to keep that from happening the next time.

I've applied the principles they discuss in this book, and the changes in my life are amazing to say the least. I'm always happy and peaceful. There are no more 'bad' days. Life goes smoother. People are more fun. And my life was pretty good before I read this book, so I can barely fathom the tremendous difference it would make to someone who doesn't like their life.

If you really want to change your life for the better - go to www.abraham-hicks.com and get the free CD. Abraham is the REAL DEAL! Life changing stuff in the best way possible! If you love the book, order CDs from them because they are even better.

Summary: Great Book except for the Apocalypse nonsense
Review: For spiritual seekers or the average "joe" who just wants to find ways to improve his life, this book is a practical guide. The basic tenet is that your daily thoughts create your life. Your emotions are a guide to whether that life will be joyous or miserable. Like so many others, I was raised to think that constant criticism, skepticism and sarcasm were ways to protect myself from the world, and separate myself from all the "madness" around me. However, if your thoughts are negative, always focusing on how dumb and unbalanced the world is, then you will attract more of the same. I've found that although the human ego loves to judge, judging does NOT make it happy. So people of that frame of mind have a momentary sense of power and exhilaration from being "above" everything they judge, but they do not experience real happiness.

This book and its volume 2 offer practical methods of evaluating your thoughts by means of your feelings. If you claim in your mind you love your spouse, but constantly just experience frustration, friction and anger with that spouse, guess what you are creating for the future! The book contains many questions and answers related to such practical situations.

My one complaint that greatly diminishes the validity of this book is that it was written in 1988 and contains the cliche NEW AGE obsession with a great disaster (called a realignment) in the earth's immediate future (i.e., long before the year 2004!!!!) that was meant to wipe the slate clean and lead to a wonderful new spiritual civilization. This type of apocalyptic thought was very popular in the late 80's and 90's as we approached a new millenium. Many NEW AGE types were eagerly awaiting the end of materialistic modern western civilization (via earth tilting on its axis, meteor impact, or just the rising of Atlantis and other such nonsense). Since this book was written during that period and contains the same cliches about an impending apocalypse leading to a perfect world, I wonder if any of it is truly "channeled" or reflects the brilliant creation solely of the author Esther. I find it hard to believe an other dimensional gestalt being (calling itself Abraham) would make such a dumb mistake as to claim the earth was about to go through a major cleansing - seems like copycat writing to me to reflect what the NEW AGE crowd wanted to hear back then. In that sense, popular books can be very dated, almost like interior decor. In the 1980's mauve was a very popular color for home decor. As a metaphor, this book contains a lot of that now passe' color!

To Abraham's credit, there is an addendum in the later publications of this book that say "Ooops! We agree that the realignment didn't happen. The energy vortex calmed down on planet earth after 1988 so this is no longer something to consider in your life."

Nice out, Esther! Next time, stick to general philosophy and leave the doom and gloom predictions to others like Gordon Michael Scallion and Ed Dames!

All in all, the mental disciplines are very good so the book is still a 5 star masterpiece. But I am not sure an actual channeled entity is involved. But if the philosophy is sound, who cares, right?

Note: Wayne Dyer is traveling the public TV circuit promoting his new book about the POWER OF INTENTION. Let it be known that his entire book is really a paraphrasing of the Abraham material! I do not know if that is a coincidence or if he just didn't feel it necessary to give credit where credit is due. Yet he has taken the basic Abraham material (which still remains rather esoteric for most people) and run with it in a mainstream manner. So if channeled works aren't your cup of tea, check out Wayne Dyer's book.

Review: I found this book murky and poorly written with numerous contradictions of material and ideas. If you are new to channeled material (like I was) I would not recommend this book or its follow up of A New Beginning II.

If you are interested in Creative Manifestation read instead Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting: The Astonishing Power of Feelings by Lynn Grabhorn.

Summary: This book explains the most powerful universal laws.
Review: I have read many many books on self help, philosopy and metaphysics. This material is the only information which made an immediate dramatic impact. I was able to apply the concepts and create more happiness and abundance. It has taken a serious committment but the same efforts applied to other material haven't produced a fraction of the results. If you are open to this information it will change your life. It has worked for everyone I have introduced it to. Its simply the most dynamic important information I have ever heard.I found the series of tapes more helpful than the book because I am an auditory learner. However, the concepts are the same.

Summary: Practical guide to manifestation principles and techniques.
Review: I highly recommend this book from the channeled group of beings who call themselves "ABRAHAM". It gives specific techniques for focusing your life energy practical and often humorous ways. I was able to use the principle and technique called "segmenting" immediately. It's worth the price of the book to read their explanation on how we draw things to us with one thought and push things away with another! Worth reading over and over!
