Summary: Reveals the visionary nature of Celtic archetypes.
Review: It is a wonderful thing that these three lovely ladies from Northern California were inspired to join forces to, so brilliantly and elegantly, create a work that invokes all the archetypes of ancient Celtic visionary wisdom at a time when so many people are interested in learning about the roots of ancient Celtic culture. Every picture and explanation lifts one into the realm of the visionary thus making the process of shapeshifting so simple to experience and better understand. It shows us that we do shapeshift all the time. When we pick up these cards and this book we are lead into a place in our own imaginations where we feel the expansion of our vision. This is a reminder that this ability is always there in everyone. This work demonstrates the wider possibilities of the imagination through the images of the Celtic style of thinking and makes it possible to understand why it is so exciting for a growing number of people to see into the depths of such a beautiful ancient way of thinking and being. For those wishing to understand the implications of ancient Celtic wisdom this book offers a true insight. It is like going there! It brings to mind the Celtic concept of "anam chara" which means "soul friend". This concept is based on the idea that when we truly meet another being we can become them and they can become us: A "soul friend". Shapeshifting is the Celtic concept that defines that experience. The intellectual and artistic integrity of these three ladies safely leads to a beautiful and very relevant insight into ancient Celtic culture where time and dimension do not stand in our way. I am deeply grateful for their beautifull joint effort.

Summary: Transformative beyond my wildest imaginings
Review: Rarely does a tarot deck capture me just from the picture of the artwork I see in a catalog. This is one exceptional divinitory tool. The images are completely accessible for anyone regardless of how much experience they have in using tarot. I was utterly enthralled by Lisa Hunt's artwork. The images alone are enough to help me lose myself on a different plane of existence. Add to them the descriptions by D.J. Conway and Sirona Knight, and you have the makings of an extremely useful and powerful tool for enhancing one's abilities to transcend the material world. This tarot deck takes shamanism into a more easily accessible realm for many individuals who wouldn't have thought contacting the primal forces of our own animal natures could be done.

Summary: Beautiful Deck
Review: The artwork of this deck is beautiful, no doubt. There are some differences between these cards and the tradition ones. First, there are no reversed meanings. Second, there are three extra cards in the deck that play into the shapeshifting aspect. If you're looking for something a little different and want a deck that caters to mental growth and energy, I highly recommend this.

Summary: I would rate half of this book/deck a 10, the other half a 5
Review: There is definitely two distinct voices in this book, and at times they conflict with each other. One author writes tarot descriptions which are redundant, at best, while the other writes inspiring, insightful, and useful information - which is perfect for the beginner as well as the more advanced tarot enthusiast.

I admire and greatly respect D. J. Conway's skill as a writer in this genre and therefore was somewhat disappointed in "Shapeshifter Tarot." However, I know (based on what I've seen and heard thus far) that her next tarot book and deck will indeed be a 10!

As for the illustrations in "Shapeshifter Tarot," Lisa Hunt's work is a stroke of magical genius, which just keeps getting better! I'm looking forward to seeing the next tarot deck she illustrates.

Summary: Must Have
Review: These cards are my first deck. I have found them forthright and well worth the money. They are great for those in need of great spiritual guidance and understanding. They have been right on the money so far. A real MUST HAVE for any tarot reader.

Summary: AN EMBARASSING MESS
Review: This deck is HORRIBLE. The cards are simply ugly. I cannot believe that someone published this. If you like tarot decks by people who can't draw, then maybe you'll like this one. I gave it away, it was so worthless.

Summary: Fantastic for anyone of the Old Religion who does tarot
Review: This deck of tarot cards is a beautiful deck. The artwork is spectacular and easy for anyone who is learning to do tarot. This is only the second deck I have used and I believe this will be the last deck I use. It is very forthright as long as you do not take every card description literally. One must be able to feel the energy from the person you are reading in order to give an accurate reading. While this deck is beautiful it will not automatically make you a tarot reader. One must learn the skills prior to becoming experienced. I would definately recommend this deck to anyone, however I would not recommend someone purchasing it just for the artwork. While I wholeheartedly would say this is the last deck for me I would also have to say that you need to buy the tarot deck that calls to you not just the one that looks pretty.

Summary: A deck you will use for life
Review: This deck sparkles in thine eyes! The illustratiions are soft but powerful, and the cards are labeled as such to give the beginner a very comfortable time with the tarot. But the readings you will be able to do with these cards are amazing. The cards have been molded to the norm of the ancient shamanic ways and are an excellent tool from witches to shamans to animal lovers. I am a beginner myself and I have done successful readings in important places. Trust me.

Summary: In a class by itself
Review: This gorgeous tarot deck succeeds in so many ways! The creators of these beautiful cards and companion reference book succeeded at combining elements from many wisdom traditions into the most meaningful divination deck and book I've yet encountered. Bravo! It's rare to find a work of such beauty, grace and wisdom that is so useful and practical. Of the three tarot decks I've used, this one is the very best. I've used this deck with friends who've worked with many different decks, and they agree that Shapeshifter is the most sensitive and information-packed. The deck is extremely easy to work with, since the basic meaning of each card appears on the front of the card. In addition to the regular cards one finds in a tarot deck, this deck contains three new major arcana cards (the Double, the Journey, and the Dreamer), which I found to be some of the most interesting and useful cards in the deck. Unless you are already familiar with a traditional tarot deck that you feel comfortable with, I'm sure you'll enjoy and probably even prefer this deck. Obviously, any divination tools will work (even stones or tortoise shells), but an outstanding tarot deck like Shapeshifter sets itself apart from all the rest with elegance and eloquence; it's simply in a class by itself.
