Rating: Summary: A truly WONDERFUL BOOK! Review: I have this book and it was my very first book that got me involved in witchcraft. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in getting started in the craft movment. Those of us who have been involved for a long time still flip through it as a refresher course to keep up on things. It is very through in its explanations of its procedures and where some books on the craft are somewhat elusive this book definitely is a no nonsense book on getting started and getting there! I know most witches who keep this book on their shelves permanently! Well done Ray! You wrote a marvelous book! If I were allowed only one book on my shelf on the subject,THIS would be the one!
Rating: Summary: Another Great One By Buckland Review: Wow. Thats all I can say. I love the self quizes and the over all in depth information! This one is a keeper.
Rating: Summary: A Workbook for the Ages Review: An excellent place to start, but not to all tastes. I found some "new" information here, but as an eclectic witch of many years experience, I found the workbook format, as in children's school texts, to be a bit insulting. I do recommend it, however for the beginner with good reading skills, since it is not meant to be a witchchild's primer. However, the novice witch must realize that there are some forms of ritual and rite here that are specific to Buckland's version of Saxon Witchcraft, and differ from other, equally valid, forms. Brightest Blessings!
Rating: Summary: The Only Book I Need Review: I give it 5 stars. It is indeed complete. It has everything I need all in one book. Bright Blessings Nicks
Rating: Summary: Excellent resource Review: Step by step workbook starting you off from the beginning. This is a great all around starting book, but for more advanced topics you should consider purchasing other tomes. One Gripe: Doesn't differentiate between Wicca and witchcraft... but this was written when they really weren't considered different.
Rating: Summary: Survey of Information Review: A great source book for those who are starting to explore Wicca. Buckland explores many topics and should be used as a reference. Not something to read from front to back cover. A great book if you are a solitary in seeking more information.
Rating: Summary: Good Begineer Book Review: I don't know many long time, non-family trad Witches who didn't cut some teeth on this book. It's a good mixture of history, practice and theory. The book is lacking, and even the Wiccan newbie will soon find themselves wanting more. Good light read, but if you're just entering your path to Wicca or Witchcraft, do yourself a favor and buy Spiral Dance or Drawing Down the Moon with this book to satisfy some other needs.
Rating: Summary: A One Star Rating Is Too Kind Review: I don't like this book, Buckland is so full of himself it's not even funny. No wonder so many people call it "Bucklands Big Blue Book of BS"!!
Rating: Summary: Anti Family / Anti Love Review: This book has the nerve to tell us that Wicca is a family religion because your coven becomes more important than your real family. It encourages teans to turn against their parrents in exchange for artificial bonds that will inevitably fail when you need them most. I am sickened at the word "Complete" in the title as if the author is the Pope of Witchcraft. This is most certianly not complete as it contains none of the heart and soul that this beautifull religion offers. But then again, what should we expect from an author that has flat out said there is no room in the craft for homosexuals? Skip this one and purchase either Cunningham, Farrar, or Drew.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful - a must read Review: written by the master. A must read for all, whether just learning or just seeking to be educated.
