Summary: If you want to understand the occult than this is a book for
Review: What i liked about the book is that it was very open to adabtation which is a hallmark in witchcraft. Buckland spells it all out and leaves you satisfied but still looking for more knowledge on the sbject, which i would consider a success. Donald C. Gibel

Summary: Buckland the gypsy strikes magick!
Review: I have had Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft for how long now and it is a great book for new pratitioners of magick. This book teaches you the many goodies of magick and puts many books together in one volume. I recommend this book to those interested in the path of Wicca and the right hand path of life. Take it from a Wiccan this book can help you develop your psychic awareness and help you set up for rituals and Sabbats. Blessed Be!

Summary: This is the best "Beginners" book on the subject.
Review: I discovered Buckland's guide quite some time ago, and am forever thankful for it. It is the most thorough guide to Wicca an explorer could hope to find. In a field largely dominated by senseless mumbo-jumbo, Buckland speaks in clear and understandable language. Where others obfuscate and obscure, Buckland explains and enlightens. I recommend it thoroughly.

Summary: Absolutely the BEST book on Wicca
Review: This book really has everything a beginner needs to know. It is arranged in lessons, and it takes you through Witchcraft in a very thorough, organized, and easy to read way.

Summary: an absolute must for the unexperienced or beginning witch
Review: This book was absolutly amazing. And haddn't been for @amazon.com, I would probably have never found it. It is an extreemly accurate and comprehensive book to practice with. Being that I am already an experienced witch it wasn't very much useful to me. However my point is when i started out, i had to deal with complicated and hard to comprehend books. thats why it is a must for all those who are interested in the magical arts of witchcraft...and not a very good idea for the meare curious & willing. be careful with this one. believe first, in doing good for others rather than illintent.

Summary: This book has all you need to know to learn what you need
Review: I think this book is the best. It tells all you need to know to begin as a solitary witch. The history is there, That is very important and it is like a lesson book. It walks you thru everything step by step. I recomend this book to anyone just starting out.

Summary: A detailed book that will lend a hand in walking the path.
Review: This is a very complete and inspiring workbook that includes exercies and a quiz at the end of each section. It covers all of the basics of witchcraft as well as outlines a few of the many traditions of witchcraft. A must for the beginner. I have read many books on occult and witchcraft and this was one of the best I've come across.

Summary: The Big Blue Book
Review: I'll stand by the Big Blue book. Yeah, Wicca:a guide for the solitary practioner is better, BUT you don't read Jane Austin and go "Oh man, she never mentions the internet!" Remember WHEN this came out.

Put simply, this book should always be on your First buy list for books on Wicca. THERE is no other author, in my NOT humble opinion, who has the right to speak of "Old Uncle Gerald" like Buckland.

There is no nouveux silliness here, no whining against the patriarchy or lamenting that people don't practice "da olde religion like they used to" There is just good writing, good detail and most importantly it is not writen for the sixth-grade reader...

I for one get sick of books that read "see Morgan run. Run, Morgan, Run. See Morgan dance beneath the full moon. Dance, Morgan, Dance. Can you dance beneath the full moon too? I knew you could..."

HOWEVER, This book barely manages to grant my forgiveness for "the Magic of chant-o-matics" by the same author....

I guess we all are young and need money at some point.

Summary: Very little value of as an occult work.
Review: This text may be the work singularly most reponsible for the propagation of the Wiccan myth. That is, it is incredibly famous in the Neo-Pagan community (not the genuine occult community) and has done more damage to the Craft than good. This book and its clones have cut both our legitimate Wiccan friends and Wiccan elitists off to the rest of the occult community by ignoring the fact of the hundred of Non-Wiccan magickal systems do exist and some are older than Goddess cults. Besides being dry the magic is non-scientific and the histories propel an anti-science, anti-Christian feel, even though in other areas the book specifically says this is not its aim. In short, only fair as an introductuion to Wicca, and pure trite as an intoruduction to occultism on the whole. Even more damaging to the true Wicca than it is to those of us in Non-Wiccan magick.
