Rating: Summary: No credibility. Review: In my opinion, any book that cites Uri Geller as an example of someone who can manipulate energy with his mind has no credibility whatsoever....
Rating: Summary: A brilliant book for beginners Review: When you're just starting out, you often don't know what questions you need to ask. Well this book not only gives you a starting point so you can start asking useful and intelligent questions, but it also answers quite a number of those questions. It's informative and useful for either the solitary practitioner or someone in a Coven
Rating: Summary: Great, informative, but would take years to complete Review: I like this book because it tells beginnings and origins, but on the same hand, this book would take about 2 or 3 years to complete because of necessary supplies. But honestly, I wouldnt spend my money on it. Real witches dont need tools except insence burners, candles, candle holders, and stuff like that. I have been practicing 4 years and am yet to need a atame, alter, or wand. Any witch with experience should agree with me. But it wont get cureous un informed teens into trouble like many other books Ive waisted my money on ovr the years. Blessed Be
Rating: Summary: Best book currently available Review: As a student of Rays, I tend to be a little bias in praising him, but I must admit, that when he penned this work some 13 years ago he really outdone himself! The book is complete down to the last detail. Witches everywhere owe him a great deal of respect for he has done a great servce for the Wiccan community by unselfishly sharing his vast knowledge over the past three decades!
Rating: Summary: Not for beginners, useless for the experienced Review: Buckland implies too much that "this is the way it is done," and doesn't leave enough variation for the individual. You have to dig through everything else to find decent information. Someone just starting out might not pick up on what's good and what's bunk. Experienced Wiccans can find the information elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: Good book! Review: I found it to be an excellent book as a starter. I just ignored the stuff I didn't agree with and adapted the other stuff to my beliefs. I was able to hold an intelegent conversation with other Wiccans as a result of this book. I liked it!
Rating: Summary: The best starting book into all aspects into Paganism Review: This book is the best book on Witchcraft I have ever found. Why? Because it manages to brush all the different aspects of the Craft, while focusing on the religeon. It doesn't say this is the only way to do it, it says do what is in your heart, and here is what we suggest to help to do that. A must buy for anyone interested in Witchcraft (I've worn out 3 copies of it in 11 years.)
Rating: Summary: Great for the beginner, must-have for the teachers! Review: I found this book to be a wonderful addition to my library. It's wonderful for those just beginning, and a must-have for all seasoned witches. Buckland's is well-detailed, and leaves no if's and's or but's about whether or not Wicca is meant to be crafted to one's own style.
Rating: Summary: our students MUST read this book... Review: We have been using this book as a teaching aid for years. All our students must read this book, as well as a few other manditory titles, to begin practicing Wicca. The book isn't perfect, but, it does what it is supposed to do. The book touches on a lot of topics that beginners should know about. It offers just enough subject matter for a "newbie" to begin on his/her path. It can be used by solitary as well as group practitioners.
Rating: Summary: Not recommendable for beginning Solitary practioners Review: This is the first book I read on the Craft, and I wish it wasn't. All of the rituals in this book can only be done if you are in a coven. Granted there is a very short section discussing solitaries, but it's useless. Fortunately I had purchased another book from Scott Cunningham for beginners. There is better understanding and he doesn't force his opinion on you as Buckland does.
