Rating: Summary: Good and bad Review: This book has both very good points and very bad points. The good part is that it's a fairly comprehensive resource for the types of magic, herbalism, and divination used by modern Witches...it packs a lot of information into one book and I'd definitely recommend it for that purpose. However, I'd advise the reader to ignore the flawed "history of Witchcraft", the self-promotion and hype, the "my way is the only way" attitude, and the sexist overtones. I wouldn't use this book to learn about Wiccan thought, ways of life, or ritual. I would not recommend this book for beginners because of Buckland's insistence on doing things his own way. Still, it makes a good reference if you've already got the basics of the Craft down solid. My final advice: take everything with a grain of salt and use only what you want to use.
Rating: Summary: good book so far Review: what is this about it being all fake just to make money? i certainly hope not. it has been a good one so far--its helped
Rating: Summary: Excellent for beginners Review: Mr. Buckland writes a wonderful introduction book to the "Craft" Gives background on a little of everything. Easy to follow and understand. Gets right to the heart of witchcraft. Loved it. Highly recommend to all witchs.
Rating: Summary: give it a rest Review: alright, i know this is not what this message board is for but it has to be done. Christians, please do not attempt to discourage anyone from finding their path by saying things like "you will burn in the firey pits of hell". surely even biggots can find a better way of saying "dont read this book". you should have more respect for pagans, many parts of your religion are translations of pagan religious elements, holy water, christmas, halloween, ect.. ect..
Rating: Summary: Worthless Reading Review: What a lot of horse puckey! Surely people in the craft know that this in made up to sell more of this writers books. Well even his newest wife has one out. If one can't make a believer out of you (to spend your money) the other is trying the children's market with spells. Get a life Bucky. Most of us MALES know that you don't got a day job YO! This book is to sell sell sell! All the Pagan communities know about you now.
Rating: Summary: Interested? Read on... Review: This is dangerous territory to be in. You risk the wrath of God, and damnation. Don't go there!
