Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Very Spiritual Review: I really liked this book, because of its spiritual and its action, it was bouth enlightning and yet it was always some action involved, a little mystery here and there, some romance in the middle, very very good
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Pure drivel Review: So it turns out that sometimes you CAN judge a book by its cover!! The announcement on the book jacket that the celestine prophecy is "a book that comes around once in a lifetime to change lives forever" was enough to arouse some pretty hard core negative intuitions in me. I should have listened to my aura and put it back on the shelf. Redfield's writing skills are pathetic. The characters are boring, shallow, predictable. The dialogue is contrived and unnatural. Sure, a handful of the ideas behind his "writing" aren't half bad, but none of it is anything that your average, half competent adult hasn't figured out on his/her own. He makes an astounding number of oversimplifications and gross generalizations. It's also obvious that Redfield needs to do some major brushing up on his biology
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Truly inspiring! Review: I feel deeply sorry for those shallow people who cannot accept what they read here. If you go into this book with an open mind, you can learn a great deal about yourself (and others). The story is gripping and the contents are thought provoking for the enlightened reader
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Charlatan Review: The more I think and read about TCP, the more certain I become of its malignance. Redfield offers to provide suckers with their moon and star readings for $30. His text is boring and promoted as a factual story via newsletters and the like. Recently, he had TV Guide quote him making "profound" statements about spirituality which would APPEAR to indicate that he is God-fearing. Liar! Read his books as prime examples of the mendacity of the New Age cancer. Who do you think you are fooling, Redfield? God help us! You ARE fooling many.

Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: A Source of Inspiration for an Aspiring Novelist! Review: As a budding novelist, I enjoyed reading this book. If James Redfield can make the best seller list with this garbage, there's hope for me yet! This is the worst book I've ever read
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: The Celestine Profit Review: I enjoyed the first few chapters of this book. The writing was fair
at best, but the story moved quickly and made for fun light
reading. However, by the time I was finished with the fictional
account of a search for the manuscript I felt exploited by Mr.
Redfield. My main objection to the Celestine Prophecy is the blatant attempt to ensure a sequel to the first book. A tenth insight
crops up on the last few pages. I believe that Redfield is in this
for the money and is doing quite well, thank you. The book
also has a rather simplistic outlook on our world. With humans
at the top of the evolutionary heap and North American spiritual yuppies defining a "better" way for the world to exist.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: This book makes you ask some truly meaningful questions Review: Such as, how the hell has it become such a cult phenomenon?! Is our society so illiterate that this book can be percieived as a spiritual masterpiece? This book is written in language so dull and un-exciting that it is hard to stop yourself from day-dreaming through it. The main character is extremely shallow - the only thing you learn about him throughout the book is that he is incredibly stupid, and is surroundedby a bunch of rubber stamps posing as secondary characters. Througout the book, the main character searches Peru for a recently discovered manuscript which contains 9 "insights" which are supposed to lead the world into a new era of spirituality. These insights are simply over-worked explanations of simple sociological and psychological facts, Redfield makes grand assumptions and generalizations (on one occasion, he describes the entire process of evolution on the planet, which culminates in the human race, while entirely ignoring the existance of the Dinosaurs), and rehashes old ideas such as the aura. Many people have stated here that the strengh of Redfield's prose is not the issue, his ideas are, but I object, for without good writing to draw the reader in and take an interest in the story and its characters, how will anyone ever take this book's meaning to heart? If you want to read a book that is truly about a journey of self-discovery and the meaning of life, and that also has compelling, even riveting prose, read Paulo Coelho's (I hope I have the name right) The Alchemist, which is a true masterpiece
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: not a literary masterpiece Review: Well i am going to have to agree with everyone that has said thar Redfield's book is very poorly written. The plot is unbelieveable and silly and the character development is rather weak. While this book is not a literary masterpiece, it does offer something. The book is written to a lower reading level intended for general audiences and is a good starting point for anyone who is interested in learning more about the recent movement to a new "global consciousness." The book offers simple insights on life that most people should have already figured out by now. It is not entirely unreadable but for anyone looking for more than a simplistic guide to life I would suggest you look elsewhere
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: WORST OF THE WORST Review: I am a "bookaholic". I love to read and read almost anything but I can honestly say this is the only book I have never finished. Absolutely boring
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A moving idea written literally very poorly. Review: I think the idea he based his book is interesting and made me think about it quite a lot since I started to read it but I also think it is poorly written; dialogues, characters and plot are just not convincing me into the story as I read it. I constantly told myself the tricks he played to reflect the certain messages and it does not feel good when you are constantly aware of the fact that whole thing is a poor set up for the author to say what he want to say. It is like watching a movie and constantly being aware of what kind of cinematic tricks are done to make a certain scene look real
