Summary: nothing new
Review: I find it funny that so many people herald the celestine prophecy as something new and earth shattering. All it is is a nice little rehash of new age concepts and eastern spiritualism dumbed down for the everyday reader, shrouded in an implausible and unexciting story. Anyone who has even scratched the surface of spirituality knows what all of the insights are- and the book seems to be an exercise in tedium. I guess that the book only has value if the reader goes on to study spirituality deeper, and reads good authors and challenging texts. The book is best used to awaken something in the reader, in the hope that they will go further with it. However, it should not be viewed as a panacea for the spiritual ills of mankind- it falls miserably short because it does not even begin to plumb the depths of what it is asking the reader to do. It gives him the desire, but not the tools- the reader is left holding the bag- because his interest is piqued but the advice and techniques given by Redfield are useless in a real world context. I'm sure he knows it's incomplete because he came out with a workbook for realizing the insights. By the way, the manuscript is not real, it is an invention of Redfield's- and he's not some mega spiritual guru who realized all this and felt the need to tell the world. He drew upon and co-opted ideas that are as old as the questions he is trying to answer. That is not exactly wrong, because he presents his own take on them, but he really doesn't present anything that spiritual people don't know already. A final note to anyone reading the celestine prophecy- in strictly literary terms, the writing is atrocious. that's why two stars instead of three.

Summary: ASH in Chicago - great start for spiritual guidance
Review: I found Redfield's book to be a fascinating look into the 21st century. It is time that all of us start uncovering the "coincidences" of the past and put them to good use in the future with our actions in the world and our view of the past. I found this book refreshing and intelligent. Those that reject the basic ideas presented by Redfield are not in touch with their spirituality or the enormous problems created by smothering world leaders. To say that this book should be accepted as the absolute truth would be silly. Anyone taking that stance has not even read the words on the pages of The Celestine Prophecy. It is an amazing book that opens our eyes to reaching out to others, nature and our own histories.

Summary: Some pearls of wisdom shrouded in New Age blather
Review: I was given this book by a kooky friend and never had any intention of reading it because I figured it to be kooky as well. However, after reading Ishmael by Daniel Quinn (as well as other books by him) and visiting that books's website, I found Celestine Prophecy to be on the reader recommended reading list. Since it was within arm's reach, I decided to read it. As someone with a science background, reading through the prostituion of the use of the word "evolution" and the almost Rush Limbaughesque deductions from seemingly vague understanding of anything outside the realm of "spirituality" was tortuous at times. HOWEVER, trying to keep an open mind about how those with differing backgrounds express ideas from different angles, I did find the book to be thought provoking. And, his ideas about personal and interpersonal ethics are something that I think everyone could benefit from.

Summary: Unfortunately there isn't a negative star rating!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This book was the absolute worst book I have ever read in my life!!!!!! And I'm not even talking about the theme of the book here, which was almost impossible to be the least bit interested in because of the AWFUL writing style. I actually wound up skimming the last third of the book because I couldn't stand reading it anymore, but I wanted to see if somewhere in it's pages there was any validity to it's popularity. Needless to say, I didn't find any! It is a terribly written book. I can't imagine how it ever made it off of the editor's desk, or for that matter, I can't imagine an editor actually editing this, approving it for publication, and still having a job!!!! I certainly hope Mr. Redfield takes some of the royalties from this book and invests in an "Introduction to Writing" course. If you feel you need to read this book, try to at least borrow it from someone, don't waste your money!

Summary: Aargh!
Review: I gave this book one star because Amazon.com does not have a rating for no stars. This book reflects a very dangerous philosophy which neglects a very beautiful material universe, denying such things as reality and the actual existence of physical things in favor of a New Age belief that we create all these things in our own heads. In addition, I had no idea it was fiction - talk about a lack of truth in advertising.

Summary: If you don't like it, you don't get it.
Review: I was surprised to see how many people gave this book less than 3 stars. A friend gave this book to me and it was the best present I have gotten in a while. If you want a book that makes you think, feel, and appreciate life, this is a winner. If you are looking for a love story, an action packed novel, or a fun narrative, look somewhere else.

Summary: Stop and look at a sunset and feel its beauty nourish you ,
Review: Since reading the book , i have learned to stop and take notice of the real beauty in everyday occurances , such as a sunrise or other aspect of nature and have been nourished by it. The writing style is awkward in its lack of complexity , like the simplicity of life , plain prose can be had for some to take,A book of old truths , written for todays needs.
