Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Why is this book so intensely loved or loathed? Review: The intrigueing thing about this book is that readers either love it or loath it in almost equal numbers. I read it because it was given me to read by the lady who later became my wife. I loathed it with all the intensity so amusingly described by the one star reviewers below and for all the same reasons. Somewhere on the web someone has catalogued a very long list of the egregious historical and scientific errors it contains. Here is my addition to that list:- Oak trees did not occur in precolumbian South America, therefore 500 year old specimens are an impossibility. But that brings me back to the question, why does my wife, an intelligent educated person, who obviously appeals to me in other ways, love the book so much? I think it came down to two facts. As a child she was one of those people who actually do see auras. This is a neurologically recognised phenomenon due to some kind of sensory leakage between normally separate brain areas. Some people see colours in association with sounds for another example. She was also searching for some new direction in her life at the time and this book does offer an appealing and easy answer to life's problems. Everything has a meaning, you just have to go with the flow and all will be made clear. Well, I am grateful to the book because it turned out I was the coincindence and she went with my flow! I kept quiet about what I thought of the book and have put it on a high shelf. She hasn't mentioned it lately. This is my confession. Hence the anonymity. I gave it three stars to represent the bimodal response.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: trapped in a fortune cookie factory Review: I'm not sure why one needs a supposed ancient manuscript from Peru to learn philosophy that can be picked up from a fortune cookie, and a kindergarten version of the history of Western civilization. The sheer implausibility of the story doesn't help either. If I were one of the "scholarly" characters in the book, the first thing I would assume was that these documents were particularly clumsy, inept forgeries.Basically, it deserves one star or less, but it is *sort of* absorbing, thus the two stars.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Give this book a look! Review: I've just finished this book again. After reading some of the cynical reviews that have popped up recently, I realize that Redfield may never have anticipated the popularity of his book, and did not intended it for everyone. This book has many messges that can be used in everyday life. The messages are timeless as evidenced by my continued re-reads. If you are looking for an adventure novel, go to the drug store. If you are looking for help in understanding life and how you fit, this book may help you find your truths.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Enjoyable Review: I enjoyed this. I feel that the style (philosophy coated in a story) makes the ideas contained within it attainable to a greater audience.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: dime-store philosophy Review: It is amazing, with the plethora of really good, exciting and substantial books on development, spirituality and philosophy available, that this volume caused such a stir. In my country it was all the rage, now forgotten, like a butterfly. Yoganandas Autobiography or Alexandra David-Neels brilliant books of travel in Tibet hover so far above this book in depth, quality and suspense that 1 star is inevitable.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Seek to find understanding Review: Celestine Prophecy stirs up on a purpose to an awakening experience if the book is comprehended. These kind of books serve a purpose for those who are in destine need to grow spiritually. These books are not meant for those who are developed in the religion realm and still window shopping. These people are developed enough to find fault with enigmatic material and don't understand the philosophy behind its meaning, other than thinking that the author's are making a killing with their books. Seek to find out what it takes to become an author or a self-publisher. It's not easy money and it takes a lot of work. I also recommend another book..The Third Time Is Now, along with Conversations with God.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: We are all stupider for having read this book. Review: Like, so, um, everything that happens, is like um, for a reason or something? Like, things that "happen" don't just like "happen." No way! Way! This is the McDonald's Happy Meal of philosophy. I am embarrassed for America, and ashamed to have been one of the 8 million+ fools who read it. Ricki Lake is more profound.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Not literature, but phylosophy Review: I agree this book is not the greatest literature ever, in fact the story is not very good. But this book is not about reading and understanding it's story, but about comprehending the phylosophy behind it and trying to incorporate the message of the book into our everyday lives. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. As a very active book, you'll be able to find many relations between the book and your personal life. Learn from it, and it will be invaluable. It definitely changed my perspective of life in some way, for good. But just remember, extremism is bad, don't take it too seriously. Hope you enjoy it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: very, very, interesting Review: This is a book that will help open your eyes to the world around you. It will take you on a trip around the world as well as inside yourself. The book will take everyday situations, explain them, and teach you why they happen. It will help you to realize that things happen for a reason, not by chance. If we listen to our hearts and follow our path, we will be guided to our "place" in this world. A great book for everyone to read...even better for those who usually shy away from this type of writing. A+
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A Must-Read for the "CRITICAL MASSES" Review: This book was highly recommended to me by a good friend and successful businessman. It has a decent storyline- but that is not the heart of the book. The nine insights of this book are REAL and, if not taken too seriously, do not interfere with religious beliefs. It was a coincidence that I read this book at this stage of my life and it only helped me see things clearer. If you want to stop preoccupying your life with materialistic crap...take the journey....read this book!
