Summary: Buy the book
Review: A very Thorough book on the practice of Wicca. Covers everything from the history of wicca to rituals, and everything in between. This book has a more traditional edge than the more common eclectic style books, but I think even the modern fluff-bunnies will still enjoy this read. This is one of the most comprehensive books on wicca that I have personally read and would recommend reading it along with Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft.

Summary: Excellent look at Alexandrian / Gardnerian Wicca
Review: This book is a must have book for every Wiccan. It is an excellent look at Alexandrian and Gardnerian style Wicca. With this book along side books by Cunningham and Silver Ravenwolf, one can see the tremendous difference between working with a more traditional coven and the solitary / eclectic Wiccan which seems to be the majority in today's pagan community.

Summary: OK - but not the best
Review: This was an interesting find, but was not very helpful in my initial quests to find some clear, concise information on Witchcraft.

Summary: The Best Damn Wee Book On the Craft Bar None
Review: Like my headline says, this is the best book on the subject. I have been a practioner for many years and highly recommend this. Janet and the late Stewart Farrar, realy went to great lengths to compile a treasure such as this one. I hope all at least seriously spend time reading it. Blessed Be.

Summary: Excellent historical Wicca
Review: This book should be read by every beginner in Wicca, as it presents the theology in what was, at the time it was written, a whole new light.

What is interesting about this book, and similar ones by the authors, is that it sort of represents a place in the transistion of Wicca from coven practice to solitary practice.
You see in this work the firm foundation of Wiccan belief and theology, but a trend towards changing notions about what makes a Wiccan...

Not too far, as some more recent authors go, but still stretching the boundaries of what Wicca can be...
Without making Wicca a pile of hooey.

That being said, this book has aged badly. A new edition, with history based on the current research, is probably in order. As it is, I suggest supplementing it with books on history and belief, and using it more as a workbook or for practice.

It really is one of the best books out there, but it is dated.

Summary: One of best Books for teaching on the craft
Review: This is one of best books written on witchcraft just past the bias it does cover the gardnerian tradtion in detail and is complete, but only problem with the book is that this book does focus on coven working ,but for a beginner they might find the book confusing at first. However I would recommend Cunningham's Guide for soltary practicer for very basics on witchcraft then move to this book. This is one of best books on the witchcraft by far but keep a open mind there are many other books out there. This one is one of the top ones out there. I have seen it used in many covens for study groups. I think it's a must have for the serious student.

Summary: Great book for students a must read
Review: Overall the Farrar's wrote a great book the rites are in this book are very good but on some of topics for a person new to witchcraft might get lost. I think it one of the better books out Yy teacher had us read this book later in his class. But for those newbies to craft stick with cunningham's books after those, then read this book is must but also one word of advice you do not have be in coven to be in craft however looking for a teacher is a good idea for expanding your mind and learning from others Good luck and this great book and one best i seen
period on the craft

Blessed Be;
Windwalker

Summary: Look into a different book.
Review: Too bad you can't choose No Stars. This book was of no help to me whatsoever. I read it front to back, hoping that it would get better, but it did not. There are many rituals outlined, all passages that are to be spoken are in the olde form of English that many people today cannot even understand, and personally I found the information obvious. If you have a coven at your ready disposal and want pictures of the obligatorily 'sky-clad' rituals then by all means get this book. If on the other hand you are searching for more perspective, deeper meanings, or additional information, I do not recommend this book. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against practicing ritual sky-clad, but I do object to the idea that you cannot practice without the absence of clothes. Effective ritual and spells are dependant on the seeker, not the fashion or lack there of.

(By the way, I can understand 'olde English', but I'm sure that most people in my age group, in America, would find this book of no help. Also - if you are in a coven, you probably wouldn't even need this book anyway, because the leaders would already have all of this kind of information!)

In summary: Not advisable for a HedgeWitch / Solitare such as myself.

Summary: A Must Book For All Wiccans
Review: To be a witch of any kind you MUST have this book to even call your self a witch (however, it doesnt speak for all wiccans, but, it should). This is a great guide line for any beginner/advance wiccan..trust me, without it you'll be lost in a heart beat.

Summary: A great look at traditional Wicca
Review: This book is based on Gardinarian wicca, and Gerald Gardner, the man who started it all. Wicca is not ancient, it is 50 years old, and this is book is based on teachings from the man who introduced the religion to the world. if you want a look at how the origional Wiccans did it, buy this book. I value it, but it is an intense peice of work. Definetly worth owning for any serious student or practitioner of Wicca.
