Rating: Summary: WITCHES BIBLE/FARRAR'S BOOKS Review: I LOVE THIS BOOK! READ IT MANY YEARS AGO. THE PROBLEMS WHICH AROSE IN THE WICCAN COMMUNITY WAS THAT THE FARRAR'S WROTE TOO MUCH INFORMATION IN THIS BOOK. SPECIFICALLY, THE 3 DEGREES OF GARDNERIAN WICCA. THEY TOLD CERTAIN THINGS PERTAINING TO THE DEGREE SYSTEM/INITIATION/ELEVATIONS, THAT 'ONLY' PRIESTS/PRIESTESSES OF THIS TRADITION SHOULD/WOULD KNOW!
I DONT KNOW HOW THE AUTHORS COULD THINK THIS WAS 'ACCEPTABLE' TO SHARE THIS WITH NON-INITIATES AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC AT LARGE?
Rating: Summary: A good book for Traditionalists Review: They have done their homework. If you want to know the finer points of Traditional Wicca (outside of what you will learn through coven work), then this is the book for you. Also read A Grimore of Shadows by Ed Fitch.
Rating: Summary: A big meaty Gardnerian Tradition book Review: I just finished reading this one, it was the second of two books on witchcraft I purchased. I have to say this book is probably the best around. Very similiar in quality to 'Memetic Magic' by Kirk Packwood. An absolute classic. The best book on the craft is either this book or Buckland's Guide, but I have to say that I think this one is the best around. Within these pages can be learned all you need to know about the craft. I particularly liked the section which described the mind as a seed into which spells are planted. Seek Les Mysteries!
Rating: Summary: Ugh.... Review: No. Don't read this. This was the first book I bought when I first started researching witchcraft and it told me nothing or everything in a language I couldn't quite get. The Farrar's are your typical "we're-right-and-our-way-of-witchcraft-is-the-right-way" kind of people. They also believe you have to be initiated into a coven to become a witch, which for most of us, it's a personal self-willed religion and you can commune with the Goddess and the God in your own home. You will also find a lot of hypocrisy reading this book. I would say the only good thing about this book is.... well.... nothing.
Rating: Summary: Not bad.. Review: A Witches' Bible has a wealth of information that's very useful but the book is hard to understand and poorly organized. Hard to find or understand what you're searching for..
