Summary: Newbies must Read!
Review: This book provides one a working overview of Gardernarian Wicca. Even if you decide not to be a Gardernarian, then the knowledge that you gain from reading this book will help you further your studies or start your own tradition. I found the section on healing quite useful!

Summary: This is the manual to have trust me on that
Review: I purchased this fabulous book not too long ago and let me tell you it is very intruiging. There is a complete BOS as well as entire full length rituals for sabbats. I was overwhelmingly pleased with the amount of material to read and experiment with. This as well as other fine new age handbooks, should be in every wiccan household.

Summary: Of Historical Interest Only....
Review: No, it's not "fluffy-bunny", but it's woefully out of date! Offensive in parts, high-handed in others. It's still part of the history of Wicca, and a good thing to read for the serious student. Just be sure to read other sources and views! This is CERTAINLY not the "Bible"!

Summary: Want fluffy-bunny Witchcraft? Go elsewhere.
Review: However, if you want to learn and read up on the 'traditional' British Witchcraft that is so readily ignored in this country these days, read this book. It is not a spellbook or a how-to be a Witch book; it is not a recipe book for the beginner to pick up and start practicing, it takes thought and study. Sure, this book is likely out of date compared to the plethora of Wicca and Witchcraft books popping up in the mainstream ad nauseum that speak more to the modern society as a whole, but the basics are covered among other things that are not covered in many books today (exploring sex and Witchcraft, for one) and is just another view, history and background and well as another sect of Witchcraft all together. No, it is not really geared towards eclectics or solitaries, but it is information that can be read, digested and altered into one's own practices if desired. I read and refer to it in order to incorporate and learn more well-rounded info from some of the forefunners of the modern Craft that carried over to the US from more traditional practices in Europe, and the Farrars are that, among others. This book is not for everyone and definately not for the beginner, but if like me, you are weary of all the fluffy-bunny Witchcraft 101 books that the market is saturated with that insult your intelligence and treat you like a child, pick this up and be prepared to learn and be challenged by some of the old traditional ways of what Witchcraft was and still is in some trads; trads that are rapidly being forgotten or altered in today's modern Craft movement. I think this book still has a place and is valuable, if one reads it with an open mind and can see it for what it is. The title is misleading, it is not the 'Bible', no book on Witchcraft of Wicca can truly claim that in any form; I see it more as this book has a multitude of information...background, history, practice and teaching rolled into one book

Summary: Hmmm...
Review: The book is only really any good for those involved in Alexandrian or other traditional witchcraft- I definitely wouldn't recommend it as a beginner's guide. I was quite disappointed and in fact offended by their courteous mention of homosexuality and gay spirituality. They say at the start of that particular paragraph (which can be found by looking in the index) that they do not know enough about gay spirituality to talk about it and then go on to mention it and come out with an awful lot of out dated age old bigotry with the statement of 'some of our best friends are gay' (why are they telling me the reader that?) and the comparison of gay spirituality and 'normal' [sic] heterosexual ritual. I was not impressed and I don't think I want to read anything of theirs again. If you're European, heterosexual and interested in more traditional witchcraft, then the book is a must have, but otherwise explore something a bit more up to date.

Summary: This book is too in depth for beginners
Review: i am just starting to learn the craft and i was drawn to the neat and tidy arrangement of the cover, and the big book, it was the first book of the subject i had bought the 8 sabbats were a little confusing to myself being a student (with a page or two per sabbat rather than 8)i suggest a couple of smaller books for beginners before delving into this whammy! all in all i thought it was good especially the second section (pricnciples, belifes, rituals) was an easier read the pictures were helpfull to aid rituals

Summary: This book totally stunk, and didn't have any info.
Review: This was way to complicated, and as great as it may seem, this "bible" is a waste of all your money. Don't buy it. Loaded with useless facts, it goes so deeply in all the wrong facts about witches that you don't know where you are anymore. Also, the pictures included are useless as well as lame.

Summary: The Book to have for Beginners
Review: This, and Laurie Cabot's Power of the Witch are the TWO Primers to have on your shelf.

After Aleister Crowley and Blavatsky, came Cayce, then came Gerald Gardner, Alex Saunders and Anton LaVey and Sybil Leek followed. Finally ending with Laurie Cabot AND Janet and Stewart Farrar.

This book has been one of the main factors which rendered the Craft open to any who choose to follow the path.

From day to day running of your own covens, to sample sabbat rituals you can try out on your own. Almost every aspect is covered in this Two volumes in one book.

The fact that they didn't add any spells get you down? There is a valid reason for this. The goal is to get you to experiment on your own.

Laurie Cabot's "The Power of the Witch" is an excellent companion volume to this excellent book should you want to go further.

The Witch's Bible is the Roadmap. Willing to take the trip?

Summary: I am a beginner to the religion, but this book really helped
Review: This book, it has every thing that you need to now plus more!!!!! i highly recommend it!!!!

Summary: ITS NOT THE BIBLE!
Review: For a beginner looking into the craft, the name of this book will mislead you. For those who have been in the craft and know what it is about, you will probably not take this book seriously becuase of its name. As long as you know it is not actually a bible, then the information between its covers will be very informative and useful.

A note to beginners; Wiccans don't perscribe to one set of ideas and belifes such as other religions like Chirsitainity, Islam... Rather the religion is made up of differing views and opinions which fall under some basic guidlines (such as, "an if it harm none do as thou wilt") Don't be fooled by the name.
