Summary: I found the Goddess
Review: After I found a lot of interesting information on Wicca on the internet, I decided I needed to take it a step further. I bought a book, to be specific, I bought this book. I can't say I regret it, it truly helped me on my path to the Goddess religion.Being a solitary witch is difficult, since you have no one to tell you what to do. Most of the books I read after this one, were based on a specific tradition. Cunningham's book prevented me from becoming too close-minded, ever reminding that this way is but one way. He tried his very best not to base his book on one tradition, and succeeded. I have read the book more than 5 times over, and every time there was something I suddenly understood, as though I didn't see it there before. I suddenly remembered things I had forgotten. Even as a more experienced witch, I saw the world unfold around me after reading it. It is a truly inspiring piece of work. Besides basic concepts of Wicca, Scott provides you with exercizes, and a whole section filled with spells, invocations, and recipes. I have not read another book that makes clear that the words are not as important as other magical techniques. Casting the circle, for instance, needs visualisation more than merely a pretty rhyme. He covers the subject of visualisation well, and provides you with a way to become skillful in it. Thanks to Cunningham, I can actually preform a ritual by myself, using various magical techniques, and make it work. I found my contact with the God and Goddess, spend more time in nature, and lead a generally peaceful life. Even the relationships with the people around me have improved. My whole life has changed, and I am very greatful to the person who inspired me so with this book.

Review: This book is ment for the very new beginner in Wicca. It is a simple and basic guide for those who are new to the Craft. Its easy to undersatnd and it will give the new commer a good ground to stand on. He tells the reader to think for themselves. Make up your own chants. make up your own spells. Be creative.

Review: If you're new to Wicca or can afford only one book to get you started as a solitary Wicca practitioner, then this book is the best place to start. The Book of Shadows was the foundation of my rituals & magick for many years. I always try to buy one for folks new to the Craft, especially when they're isolated for other witches!

Review: This book was easy to read, full of useful information, and makes the reader feel good about being a solitary. It is also the best book for beginners that I have ever read. The book is written in a style that allows the reader to learn without focusing on one coven's set of beliefs and practices, like Buckland or the Frost's. It is helpful no matter what path the reader choices because it contains the basics of spellcraft, divination, and healing. With enough information of the innate doctorines of wicca at the very beginning of the book, so that the reader can decide if the wiccan path is truly the one to follow. So many books go into the nitty-gritty of practicing magick without showing that wicca is a way of life and a religion not just a way of getting what one asks for.
