Rating: Summary: Wicca Review: This is one of the first books I bought when I first started studying Wicca and Witchcraft. I found its simple, friendly style easy to digest. I was also intrigued with all the reference to stones, incense and oils. Well, stones, incense and oils can be found in aromatherapy books or lists of rocks and minerals; used to beautify one's home. Good beginning book for modern, general Wicca.
Rating: Summary: A Must-Read For All Students of Comparative Religion Review: If you are interested in the academic study of lesser-known religions, or if you want to understand the basics of Wicca, there is no better place to start than this book. It describes all of the basics, with an emphasis on how religion is always an individualized, custom-tailored experience. Whether you end up agreeing with the tenants of Wicca or not, this book will allow you to make an informed decision.
Rating: Summary: Buy it ! Review: The book is the best book for anyone who are new to wicca. It explained the basic theory and the things do in wicca. It also have a book of shaddow at the back of the book . So if you're still having doubts or relly want to be a wicca, trust me and take this book. Still, I have to admit that the book contain less practical works. So, if you've already know more about wicca, then don't buy it.
Rating: Summary: exceptional book Review: Well written - authoritative and easy to read. This book is complete and an reasonable introduction to Wicca. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Opens the Door to Wicca: Now You Have to Step Through Review: "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" was my first step into Wicca; I have just finished reading it. Since I didn't know much more about the Craft than what has been portrayed in the media, I found the "Guide" to be a good introduction to Wicca. Certainly, I'm not in a coven right now, and need to do a lot more reading before I'll be able to say I'm a Wiccan, that I believe in Wicca, or before I'll be performing any rites. While reading the "Guide" I felt a connection with the author, as though he understood my confusion about my spiritual path. He didn't give me more information than I could handle. What the "Guide" *was* able to provide me with was an introduction to Wicca, the practices, rites, and deities. No one should expect this book to answer all their questions. It will, however, show you the way to *more* questions, etc. Go find more books!
Rating: Summary: Those New to the Path. Review: I am fairly new to Wicca. I had a lot of misconceptions that this book cleared up for me. It is very simple and very effective. I think personally it is a very good book to have; you will find yourself returning to it again and again. Mr. Cunningham, all I can say is "Thank you" you offered me a starting point for my journey.
Rating: Summary: The best beginner book. Review: I have an extensive library of Wicca books and this is one of the bests. I recomend it to anyone who is even thinking about choosing Wicca.
Rating: Summary: The New Generation of Wicca Review: For me, this book is /the/ one. It is most people's introductory guide to the paths of Wicca, Witchcraft, and Paganism. Living in New Zealand means that finding covens to work with is a thankless task. I personally know of three, and only one is within an hours drive of where I live! So for most Kiwi Wiccans, solitary is the way. We live with Wiccan beliefs and practices, therefore we /are/ Wiccan, regardless of our coven affiliation. Cunningham confirms that statement, and provides new Wiccans with an outline of this beautiful religion, in a way that they can live! Blessings
Rating: Summary: Good beginner material Review: Don't let the flashy cover print, "over 400,000 copies sold," second guess your purchase of this book. There is a reason this number of individuals, perhaps very much like yourself, owns a copy. Perhaps the best way to obtain a better understanding of any given topic would be to start with the basics, learn from the ground up; plant the seed and watch it grow. This book has done so for many and could quite possibly for you. Enjoy and Blessed Be!
Rating: Summary: The first book for anyone interested Review: I have been a wiccan for several years now. I remember this being the second book I read, the third being another one of Scott's books "a further guide for Wicca". Anyone who asks me about Wicca I sugest this book to be the FIRST they read. There is extremely important topics covered for the beginer. In fact I've bought several copies of this book because I end up giving away so many. He explains why Religion before Magik is so important. I have met many people who claim to be Wiccan because they perform "spells" but do NOT know anything about the the religion. This scares me, I wonder what kind of image these people are creating for respectiful Wiccans. He also teaches about the non-preaching rule. I've also met many "Wiccans" who preach and force there religion on others. Sorry to ramble on, but I'm very Passionate about this book. So pick up a copy, once you read it you'll want to re-read over and over again.
