Rating: Summary: This God is as scary as Falwell's Review: To some of us, Walsh's amoral, pathologically detached God is just as frightening and repugnant as Jerry Falwell's rightwing deity. According to Walsh's cosmos, child-murderers are every bit as blessed as saints. What's even scarier than this philosophy, are the number of people who apparently believe it.Take a look at Walsh's sleazily benign image and you'll know he's really talking to himself, telling himself that if Hitler went to heaven, just think what's waiting for him in the next world, aside from the riches he's amassed in this life from pathetic, desparate and deluded people.
Rating: Summary: Conversations with God An Uncommon Dialog Book 1 Review: This books confirms many of the things I have always believed. It also made me really think about many ideas that I have never truely explored in my life. This book touches the soul in a profound way. I don't think anyone can read this book and not change at least some of their views as a result. It brings home the point that God gave us a mind with which to think and reason. How can we then just "believe" and expect to know the truth? This book asks and answers that question! No more blind faith will be needed after reading this book. It's a great course of study for the metaphysician as well. I couldn't stop reading it. Thank you Mr. Walsh!
Rating: Summary: Who cares Review: Who cares if this book was a true conversation with God,the point is did you get a better understanding of the life your in?I did.
Rating: Summary: did anyone notice the "prophesy?" Review: You can believe or disbelieve the book as you wish. However, I want to point out something that really startled me. There's one section in the book where Neale is reading The San Francisco Chronicle on Saturday, April 9, 1994. Neale and God are discussing current events. (kinda an interesting picture, isn't it?) Anyway, God points out that "U.S. and other rich nations...exploit foreign workers who are ...unprotected." Neale retaliates: "But the [newspaper] story says it's our government--the present administration--which is pushing for workers' rights to be part of a worldwide trade agreement." God responds; "Your current leader, Bill Clinton, is a man who believes in basic workers' rights, even if your powerful indhustrialists do not. He is courageously fighting big moneys' vested interests. Other American presidents and leaders throughout the world have been killed for less." Neale: "Are you saying President Clinton is going to be murdered?" God: "Let's just say there are going to be tremendous powers attempting to remove him from office. They've got to get him out of there--just as they had to remove John Kennedy 30 years earlier." (p. 226) This conversation took place in 1994. Clinton was barely in office 2 years! MONICA LEWINSKY WAS NOT EVEN KNOWN! How could Neale have implied the president's impeachment trial if the book is not God inspired? Before the impeachment trials, Clinton was not exactly the least likeable guy around.
Rating: Summary: Bible and this Book don't necessarily disagree Review: People complain that Neale's book doesn't quite match the Bible. True, but how could it? There are some topics, like the Big Bang Theory, other life forms, evolution, etc, etc. which could "contradict" the Bible. Now here's the question: How could you explain the Big Bang Theory to people 2000 years ago--or people even further back than that? I mean, they still thought the sun revolved around the earth! How could you explain evolution if the idea of genes won't come for, oh, another 1900 years or so? I'm not saying that civilization is very advanced now, but it is slightly more than it was then. At least, technologically. Perhaps God conversed because He thought we could understand the material better now. Maybe He just waited. And anyway, the basic theme of the book is the same: love thy neighbor. Make the most of life. Keep in touch of your soul. That sort of thing. Furthermore, just supposing that Neale didn't receive the messages from God --it's possible-- isn't it amazing that one guy (a guy who is not a scientist, no less), somehow fit the topics of Big Bang, quantum physics, theory of relativity, evolution, love, the mystery of other religions, space, time, Carl Jung, Shakespeare, Hitler,in one book? Not only that, he somehow related them all to life. To your life. To God. The average layman can maybe discuss a little Hitler or Shakespeare--but the theory of relativity? If Neale's not inspired by God, the guy ought to be a professor.

Review: I have read "Conversations with God" book 1,2,3, and "friendship".I loved all of them, and want to own them.I was hoping they'd come out in paperback , and none of them have, even though the 1 st one was printed in 1996.Also , there sure are a lot of books with the same title except the word"meditations on" or "workbook" in front of title, a lot of audio tapes too.Hmmmm............makes me wonder!
Rating: Summary: English clearly isn't God's first language Review: The confused, inarticulate ramblings of a poor deluded charlatan. The chutzpah is staggering. Will sell and sell.
Rating: Summary: You will cry tears of joy Review: This book changed my life, assisting me in understanding the nature of God and His/Her Universe, and the purpose of this existence. I cried within the first 20 pages as the truth filled my soul. After reading the entire book, I felt a sense of peace and calm in my being. The "shackles of lies" had been removed from my understandings. You will finally know the meaning of the saying..."and you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free". One Love
Rating: Summary: An eye opener Review: This is a great book. I cried when I read it. Every word in there seems to be written for me to read. I can't prove it's true, but it makes so much sense to me. It's logical. Keep an open mind and it will touch your heart.
Rating: Summary: Incredible Passion, But... Review: I have to admit that "Conversations" grabed my attention. Walsch has many powerful and surprising things to say, but when looking beyond the surface of his claims we see that he is not all that he first appears to be. He writes with soft yet intense emotion and incredible passion, but I had to ask myself if what he was writting was really all that believable. He seems to be claiming all sorts of contradictions. Now I now that religions in general seem to be FILLED with contradictions and hypocracy, but I also do not think that Walsch has succeded in doing any better than any other religion out there. Again, I can read his book and get caught up in his "Loving Caring God of my Deepest Desires," but I find that upon deep consideration of Walsch's work it just dosen't hold together.
