Summary: Groundbreaking
Review: This book gets five stars for Mr. Walsch's chutzpah alone. I have no problem believing this is a personal conversation between the author and God, for there are many of us who have had similar realizations/thoughts over the years as those contained in this book, but who of us would have had the nerve to put them in print? This was a very important book for me personally, because it helped me get over the belief that God is indifferent, inept and impotent to significantly influence human activities, even while at the same time I believed we have free will and are capable of producing any kind of outcome in life that we choose. I used to think God had made a huge mistake in creating the human race. This book, along with two other books (Dannion Brinkley's first book and Dr. Michael Newton's first book) helped secure my knowledge that God is as involved in human affairs as we allow, that we are truly in possession of the freedom and power, both individually and as a species, to create a heaven or hell during our physical existences on earth. A challenging read for me, as it forced me to face the contradictions in my own thinking that I had been unwilling to come to terms with.

Summary: Holy Cow
Review: I haven't read this book, just a few of the reviews which inspired me to read the sample pages. I have been aware that a book with this title existed but my many years inside the Mormon church has turned me off from other people's ideas of what/who God is. When I was a Mormon I knew all the answers because the leaders of the church told us what we needed to know. I walked away a little over 10 years ago and avoid religion like the plague. Somehow this morning I was led to this book at Amazon.com. I assumed it was going to be about somebody's way of getting people to accept God the way churches preach. I read a couple reviews and was shocked to see that I was totally wrong!!! Then I read the sample pages. The question: How do I know God is talking to me and that it's not just my imagination? ... Just seeing that question I couldn't continue reading as I immediately broke down and sobbed because I do talk to God in my mind at times and had asked Him the same question. I needed to know. We agreed upon a way for me to know the difference. If my thoughts came addressed to my nickname it was God. If thoughts came addressed to my given name they were my own. This has worked for me though I probably haven't used it as much as I could have. I am totally inspired by these reviwes and the brief writings found in the sample pages. I can hardly wait to read Mr. Walsch's books!!!

Summary: Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it
Review: My wife and I were given a copy of book 1 for Christmas 1999. That book changed my life for the better and since then I have bought books 2 and 3. I believe Neales writings come from God. As it was stated in the book, God talks to all of us all the time; its just that so few of us listen to him/her (yes I believe God has a male and female side).

Regarding the title of my reveiw.
"Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it"

I have read many reviews, by people who have likely NOT read the book or books (because its not the Bible). Many people say Neale is a "false prophet".

Gee, why was it that Jesus was killed? Wasn't he called something similar? and crucified for it!

What about those who believe in and are waiting for the "2nd coming of Christ"? How will you know it is really him, if/when he comes again. My bet is that most hardcore Christians (Aka hypocrites) will reject Jesus when he comes again and claim that he is also a false prophet.

The bottom line is that Neales writings parrallel almost exactly what my heart and soul tell me is the truth.

These people who condemn the CWG books are going to be awfully surprised when they die and pass over, into Heaven; where they will see EVERYONE they ever knew on earth (but who died before them). Even the scumbags and criminals who you thought were going to Hell, will be there in heaven with you. God doesn't descriminate, only humans do.

The Bible, the 10 commandments, etc, were ALL written by HUMANS, not GOD.

For instance, the one where it states "Honor thy father and mother"

Is a person supposed to honor such a person if the mom or dad is a liar, a criminal, etc?

Especially since God did NOT personally write the commandments, I think it would be more accurate to say "Honor thy father and mother" IF THEY ARE HONORABLE!

Thats just one example

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Since this is such a "deep-seated belief", i don;t expect to change any minds.

I WOULD suggest that people actually READ these books BEFORE passing judgement. Instead of having the audacity to write a review on what they have not yet read.

Personally, I think these books are some of the best that are avaialble.

You might also want to read some of the Psychic Sylvia Brownes' books. She very closely parallels Neale in her writings.

God bless all of you
Doug

See you ALL on the "other side" (heaven)

Summary: My Ephifinany-sp?I say it enough, I should learn to spell it
Review: I am open minded and how I don't know. I was raised by Baptists(in the Bible belt) who never went to church, never read the Bible, yet told me that God would punish me if I did wrong. I grew up married 2 Catholics (not at the same time) and currently exploring Buddism. This book made perfect sense to me. It was many concepts that I had already thought. (I always felt God had blessed me with an open heart and mind) The EP..."Thou Shall Not Want". I constantly wanted a husband and great amounts of money. When I finally did NOT want a husband, my soul mate came. That made me extremely happy. Money seems to be coming now because I don't want it, it's not all that important, though I have amassed some of it and the luxuries that I always wanted. Oh, let me rephrase that, desired and chose to have. I will forever be very careful about "wanting". I will decide if I need something and is it the right thing for me and/or family. Then I will "choose" to obtain it.

I believe the part about God not punishing us. When I have done something I should not have, it has caught up with me and it punished me. CAUSE/EFFECT

I am a parent, I do not want my child to suffer, go without, or be miserable. How could God want us to suffer so and punish us with eternal damnation when we are his children?

Jesus has not been disregarded here. It seemed to be clear that Jesus was here to redeem us. If you have ever read the Old Testatment you will see that the Isrealites never seemed to obey God. He may have become frustrated with this and realized that he must take another step and in that sent Jesus the messiah to us. Another issue I've always had is that Jesus is the Son of God, the messiah too, but he is not THE supreme God. This is why the Christian movement gets so upset.

ON A CLOSING NOTE: My aunt who was married to a preacher announced that Catholics were not going to heaven. Had I been of age at the time, I would have got out the 10 Commandements and pointed to "thou shall not judge". She never said her told her that.

Summary: Imagine being able to speak with God!
Review: I'm not sure if Neale Donald Walsch actually did in CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD: AN UNCOMMON DIALOGUE, but who cares?

It certainly felt like Walsch did, and I appreciated how he
made God seem real to me . . . the author also got me thinking about lots of things, including love, the nature of man (and woman), money, and even sex.

You don't have to be any particular religion to enjoy this book . . . in fact, methinks that even if you didn't believe in God, you'd get something out of reading CONVERSATIONS--if just only the part that you don't have to be fearful of God.

I also liked the snippets of humor throughout, including this
one:

[When asked how does God talk, and to whom?)
I talk to everyone. All the time. The question is not to whom do
I talk, but who listens?

There were many several other memorable passages; among them:

The Highest Thought is always that thought which contains joy. The Clearest Words are those words which contain truth. The Grandest Feeling is that felling which you can call love.

For the first thing you worry about after saying "I love you" is whether you'll hear it back. And if you hear it back, then you begin immediately to worry that the love you have just found, you will lose. And so all action becomes a reaction-defense against loss-even as you seek to defend yourself against the loss of God.

There is only one purpose for all of life, and that is for you and all that lives to experience fullest glory.

Summary: NEW AGE CRAP
Review: As well meaning as this guy may be, this book is a load of New Age crap from start to finish. I thank the real God for the gift of discernment. I'll stick with Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior and rely on the Holy Scriptures and prayer as THE BEST conversation with God you will ever find.

Summary: Truly Life Changing
Review: I first bought this book several years ago as I enjoy reading books of spiritual content. Well this one sat there for three long years, as I assumed it was (yet another) some author's take on God. I finally picked it up one day and couldn't put it down. It really freed me from a lot of the confusion, fear and dislike I had for God (which I didn't even know completely). What a beautiful, life changing piece of work! Come with an open mind and there is no way you can doubt that God spoke through Neale. I've gone on to read all of the CWG books and truly am a better person from them. Everyone should own a copy!

Summary: GOD SPEAKS TO HUMANITY
Review: This extraordinary book and the other two books in the trilogy are unexcelled in their treatment of subtle metaphysical truth. I have read and studied the teachings of great masters, but only in these books have I found clear and precise explanations of such mysteries as, for example, why souls choose to come to earth to begin a process of living in limitation and duality -- a process that goes on for many lifetimes.

I am convinced that God is the author of these revelations of truth. Neale Walsch could never have dreamed them up, but is a perfect instrument for bringing them forth, for the benefit of the world, with his very human, spontaneous questions; somewhat irreverant way of challenging God; and his sincere, often humorous, comments.

A new book, Messages from Jesus, has just been published, which contains Jesus' responses to questions from the author, a spiritual healer, whom Jesus gave the spiritual name, "Saint Ta". Several of the questions put to God by Neale Walsch are answered by Jesus in this book, and, though God's and Jesus' answers do not contradict each other, they are expressed in different ways and might appear to be contradictory to the casual reader.

For example, God says that fear is the opposite of love, created for the purpose of making it possible for humans on the earth plane to appreciate love by experiencing its opposite. In Messages from Jesus, Jesus says that love has no opposites. But, on closer examination, we realize that God has said the same thing in Conversations with God, that, in the absolute realm, beyond duality, love includes all emotions, even fear.

Conversations with God is a milestone in the history of spiritual literature. All three books will probably endure for a long time. Controversial they can only be, for they draw our attention to the fallacies inherent in theologies that attempt to limit God and infinite intelligence to what ordinary humans have been able to comprehend. Read these books and you will realize how foolish it is for any one religion to claim it has the only true scripture as its source and the only keys to salvation.

Summary: What I've Waited to hear for years!
Review: When I first started reading this book, I could not believe the information I was receiving! Being raised in a strict Catholic family, we were always told we were sinners and that we were bad; normal, human feelings and desires were wrong! This book helped me to realize that God loves us no matter what we do, and even the things we do "do" aren't as bad as we had been led to believe! Thank you for the sense of relief after the years of guilt and shame!! This book, and his others, just make me love God more!

Summary: A truly relavent and intelligent God for the 21st century!
Review: Whatever you think of these ideas, this is an extraordinary book (and a publishing phenomenon) by any standards. Having read most of the subsequent Conversations With God series by Walsch and God over the last few years, I have just come back to this first in the series. It is still fascinating reading 5 years on. Profound, funny, intelligent, compassionate and deeply thought provoking.

God here is the sanest, most honest, most credible God I have ever come across by a long way. Beginning in this book, the dialogue between Walsch and God deals with EVERY possible aspect of the human condition in an intelligent and constructive fashion. All of life and human experience is embraced, and I mean ALL OF LIFE!

Although this book can definitely stand alone, I recommend "The New Revelations", "Tomorrow's God", and "Friendship With God" in the series, all of which explore the possible personal, social, economic and political implications of the ideas discussed. I am not in complete agreement with all of it, but its brilliant stuff! Sincere thanks again Neale.
