Summary: This Gift of Love is Beyond Words!
Review: The biggest gift you can give yourself is the Truth of who you are, what everything else is, and knowledge of what your purpose here is.

The Course will give you this - it is well worth the effort, and I believe you are limiting yourself immensely if you do not read and study it. It is designed to open the door to your internal teacher, the Holy Spirit, and with the "connection" made you will be able to live in total happiness - that's constant happiness - every instant. You can accomplish anything once you understand.

If you cannot say you are happy every instant, you need this wonderful work of love. You are worth it, we all are, study the course and become what you really are.

Summary: Great to listen to before Bed..
Review: I really enjoyed the series. I just wished the author had gone into more detail with his conversation with God..did this happen daily? Was there some type of sign that the conversations were to begin? I was looking for more but did enjoy what was presented.

Summary: DEMANDING, AS WELL IT SHOULD BE
Review: I am merely going to quote from a previous review, which has expressed my sentiments and thoughts on the Course precisely:

"The course is not a book, it's the way home. If it doesn't make sense to you that's because you're not ready to hear the message it offers. Don't confuse the course with Marianne Williamson or any other author that is a student of the course. It is not the same. Those books may help you find temporary relief, the course will give you permenant peace. Remember, the message of the course is very threatening to the thought system we all live with. Give it time, it will change your life forever."

This is not "new age fast food." If one commits one year of his/her life to it, that is enough to set one on his/her way.

Additionally - and I can't state this emphatically enough - the Course demands that one learn how to READ, I mean, really, really READ. Carefully. Slowly. Earnestly. Seriously.

You won't get Chropra-esque solutions from sitting in an armchair a couple of hours with a 'bestseller'. This is ONLY for those serious about reclaiming their minds from the nonsense and insanity of "the world out there"; it's NOT about gaining trendspeak to get cutting-edge solutions in order to obtain something else from 'out there.'

A Course in Miracles is not for everyone, as it clearly states, but it is certainly for those with "ears to hear and eyes to see".

Summary: Get ready for the ride of your life.
Review: I thought I'd read some helpful spiritual books in my time, but nothing even comes close to this. When I first started the course, I hated it. I tried to read it like I read all books. That is just sit down and plow through it. This book will almost not allow that. Every time I picked it up, I thought it would fry my brain. Then I decided, OK, lets try another way. So I decided to give it 1/2 hr a day. That worked ! I just relaxed and stopped trying to "finish the book". I found that this is not a book anyway, it is a course that will become a part of your life. Once you see just Who wrote the thing, you will never want it to end.

It says in the beginning that the course is not for everyone. That is quite true. The concepts in it are very advanced, and if you are not READY for them, you will hate the book. If you ARE ready for something this advanced, it will become your most cherished possession.

Summary: TRUTH ULTIMATELY RECOGNIZES TRUTH
Review: I was born and raised Roman Catholic and contiune to practice my Catholicism to this day, although I believe that Catholicism defines the "practice of my faith", not my faith itself. I originally read this book out of curiosity after hearing a friend talk about it. Upon reading the passages written in the first person and realizing that the speaker could only be Jesus Christ himself, I will have to tell you that I initially felt very threatened. So threatened in fact that I was tempted to stop reading the book altogether. I then felt compelled to ask myself what it was about this which made me so uncomfortable. Did I really believe that God's written communication with man ended with the last writing in the New Testament? When I let down my fear of the book (after all, words on a page don't control our thoughts, only we have the power to do that right?), I realized that far from threatening anything I believed, it only reinforced my core beliefs and answered questions about inconsistencies I had always noted. It was like substituting a color photograph for a black & white stick picture. It was literally like remembering something I knew, but had somehow allowed myself to forget. For me, I don't just THINK that the theories this book espouses are true, I KNOW them to be true. To this day (15 years later), it still remains one of the most profound books I have ever read. Give it a read and I assure you that, at the least, you'll never forget it.

Some memorable passages: -"What is OF something ultimately returns to it" -"Something can deny what it is, but denial doesn't change what it is" -People in this world initially think you are insane if you introduce to them thoughts that conflict with the accepted thought system of this world, but ultimately, they will recognize truth because the only real part of them, their spirits, are not of this world.

Summary: A Map to a new mind.
Review: I am working through the lessons in this book and they are having a profound effect on my daily awareness, peace, and joy. I reccomend it to anyone who is seeking. I find it's Christian language to be slightly distracting, but by reading the context and intent it becomes clear.

Summary: A Guide For the Brokenhearted, Discouraged And Perplexed....
Review: ....I have said in another review that I was not a big fan of this enormous work. I find it too dense with repetition and neo-gospel psychology and I think that people--Christians--may be tempted to use it instead of the Bible.

But, even I can see that if it helps a lost soul find peace and forgiveness, then it must have some great value regardless of what I think. Admittedly I have been inspired by a few of it's tenets and teachings, also. And it has helped me on a few occasions find a God centered solution to some of my emotional turmoil.

A few of the passages :

"The power of faith is never recognized if it is placed in sin. But it is always recognized if it is placed in love."

"Ask not to be forgiven, for this has already been accomplished. Ask, rather, to learn how to forgive and to restore what always was your unforgiving mind."

"The ego teaches that your strength is in you alone. The Holy Spirit teaches that all strength is in God and therefore in you. God Will no one suffer."

"Only your mind can produce fear."

In the Introduction one of the things that it mentions is that the Student could use the work whenever he needs it. He does not need to go through the regimen so recommended, but if the student needs to go through the steps, he may use them accordingly. That's cool.

My last two cents is that we all can use a few more moments of inner peace and reflection and this, overall, is a great guide to help us find those moments...

Summary: I just cannot finish this book.
Review: I know that this book has gotten some pretty rave reviews from other authors I have read, mostly self-help books, but I'm sorry, I am lost. I bought this book at least a year ago. I cannot get through it. It sounds like a bunch of gobbledy gook for the most part, and there isn't enough explanation to begin with about how the author(s) came to write this. It's like a Bible, even the paper it is printed on, and somehow, supposedly, the author(s) have been given this divine inspiration to write it. After you get through the first part, the rest is supposedly a course you take, and throughout the book I think the intent is to enlighten you spiritually somehow so you are prepared to leave your ego and self behind and become God or one with God. I'm going to continue to attempt this, but it may take me a very long while because I think I had better start over. Too confusing and much too circular for me.

Summary: Beyond words to sheer experience
Review: I studied ACIM earnestly from 1990-1994. Though I have since put it down, I am ready to pick it up again. It's the most important book I have ever read.

It's teachings have had such a profound influence on my belief system that it has taken these last 7 years to let them "sink in", to find expression in the living of my life, so that I feel refreshed from my initial period of study and am ready to begin again.

If anything, the Course is not to be taken lightly. If you let it, its teachings will shake your belief system to its foundations, and this is difficult. However, it more than any other spiritual practice has brought into view for me some of the fullness of the glory of God and the meaning, however partially experienced, of my eternal heritage and birthright. It has given me a profound perspective of me, and an understanding that even this is only a glimmer of the truth. And the truth, though beyond human understanding, is good news indeed, for it is not beyond the limits of awareness.
