Summary: A path to wholeness that combines eastern & Christian ideas
Review: A Course in Miracles, coming from a most unusual source in
the late 60's and early 70's, casts a new light on the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth that makes sense and is intuitively true! It explains how our own guilt-ridden and fearful mentality has distorted the Biblical record of Jesus' teachings and has led us to be afraid of ourselves, each other and our Father.
Studying this Course takes much persistence and a
willingness to reconsider all of our normal perspectives,
but the new life you will experience makes all the effort
worthwhile. It is not for everyone, but everyone can
benefit from its teachings. It never claims to be an
exclusive path to wholeness, but it has helped my life and
the lives of many other people that I know.
Studying the Course does NOT mean that you renounce your
present religious affiliation. It will help you to see your
present religious ideas in a new, more holistic way.

Summary: Seek not to change the Course
Review: According to the Amazon.com review, some people find the Course simplistic. Well, the Course says from the beginning that it IS simple, however it is the ego that is complex. The statement that "to heal is to make happy" is simple, but is almost never believed in this world. As Carolyn Mase said, to heal is very unattractive in this culture because we all bond over our wounds.The truth is, the Course is not at all simple. To truly study this Course is to devote many years and to question everything you ever thought you knew about anything. And if you ever get mad at this book, and want to throw it against a wall, then it's working. But please remember that the Course is a non-dualistic view of God. In other words, the Course teaches that evil does not exist because only the creations of God exist. Therefore, evil is OUR illusion and we are not to blame God for the problems we've created in this illusory world. The Course is not teachings about God, it is a teaching of the undoing of the ego's fear-based world view. According to the Course, God is beyond what can be taught. Not that we lack in our ability to learn, but that you only must learn things that you do not know. And in Reality we know only of God, because in Reality nothing exist but God. Oh, yeah, individual identity is an illusion.

Summary: Deception, deception, deception
Review: This book is so new-age and completely twists biblical facts around to cater to what we WANT to hear. Like the Power of Now, this is yet another feel-good book which uses seemingly logical arguments to fool gullible people. Even if one were to accept it as truth, ask yourself: Are you believing this because it's what you WANT to hear? How can you trust or even know, of this source of 'wisdom'? The contents are highly abstract, a bit like Buddishm, whereby there is denial of this and that. Or that the elimination of desire will eliminate suffering. Yet, isn't the desire to remove desire already desire in itself?! Just beware and really really think about WHY there is reason to believe it. Doesn't mean that if it works, it's true!!

Summary: A Beautiful Miracle
Review: One of the few books that ever made me cry with joy. Beautiful, powerful, it is my favourite book and one that I am grateful to have found. The language in this book is extremely rich, and although the teaching can apply to anyone, the book itself can be intimidating or confusing for some. For myself, who has been seeking the kinds of answers and loving image of God that I couldn't get from my traditional Christian upbringing, this book changed my life. It is a book of profound love, peace, and wisdom without equal. Like many sophisticated spiritual texts, it can be easy to misinterpret or misunderstand some of the Course's principal ideas so I recommend reading the commentaries published in Kenneth Wapnick's books for further clarity (especially his "Most Common Questions About A Course In Miracles"). I wish you all well on your spiritual journey.

Summary: The Truth
Review: This book changed my life, my perspective, and validated my life-long belief that God is Love, as opposed to a judgmental, wrathful father figure. As the text explains, "this is a required course," referring to the fact that we are here on Earth to learn how to love, how to forgive, and that the events in our lives are opportunities to learn to accept God's love and forgiveness for ourselves as well as for others. It's hard to believe that there could be any other more important purpose, or any other possible solution to the chaos of life on this planet. This book IS the way out, for each one of us. Read it now - and "rest in the peace of God." We all deserve it.

Review: If you choose to buy this book, I would encourage you to start with the manual for students, and read the text as you go.
Honestly, I find the text to read like stereo instructions. it's useful, but I can only absorb it in little pieces. When I first got the book, I tried to read the text, because it's the first section. I didn't like it, so I stopped reading it.
A few months later I realized that there was a manual back there! I've found the manual to useful beyond words. It's a systematic training tool to remove the ego, and help one find the presence of God in ego's place.
If you've been looking for a spiritual guide and have struggled, this is a great way to spend a year or two. The changes you will see will be remarkable!

Summary: Eternal Truth and Enlightenment
Review: The text of this course is one of the purest teachings of truth I have been honored to read. It is Divine Truth that brings profound awareness. The text is deep, however it is meant to be a self-study text, so that you can take as long as you need to contemplate the messages that cover deeply meaningful areas of life.
I also highly recommend the book `The Disappearance of the Universe' as a companion text to `A Course in Miracles.' Both books will serve you greatly to lift the veils of seeming separation, and replace the darkness of ego with the Light of Truth from Divine Source.

Review: This book has changed my life. I was initially turned off by the Christian terminology, but the very first instructions in A Course in Miracles ask the reader to release all ideas about everything, including God. The very first lesson says "Nothing I see means anything". It asks the reader to come WITHOUT a past reference and BE SHOWN what God is.
With an open mind, I instantly began to experience miracles.
