Rating: Summary: Puleeze! Is this... for real? Review: Why on earth do otherwise intelligent people fall for this kindof scam? The author had this information "channeled" toher? Sorry, no such thing. ...and she, herself, identified this"voice" as Jesus? Puleeze! (Of course, we should just take her work for it!) And shame on Marianne Williamson, herself a spectacular huckster, for latching onto this nonsense as if it is for real. I know that relgion means a lot to people. I only hope they get better guidance that this phoney-baloney nonsense. For shame!
Rating: Summary: Bible for the next millenium Review: I first found A Course in Miracles back when I was on the verge of suicide - all "spirit" had left and I wanted out. This book, though, is literally a "how to" book on finding, creating, and keeping Inner Peace. As a result of this book, everything in my life has gotten better. It's true what Jesus said - "The Kingdom of Heaven is within." Now I don't know about you, but I needed a step-by-step method of getting there. (After all, if I knew it was already there, and how to get there, I wouldn't have been lost out in the cold, all lonesome.) This book will most definitely open up your "inner sense" to hearing God's voice for yourself. Now you, too can take part in what Jesus promised in the Bible - "All these (miracles) will you do - and greater." If you're tired of sitting on the sidelines of traditional religion, feeling like roped sheep, then step out and use this book to get to your own inner enlightenment. No one will force you. It's waiting. Will you come?
Rating: Summary: Wolf in Sheep's Clothing Review: Wolf in Sheep's Clothing I don't know how Christians can read this book and give favourable reviews, without realizing straight away that there is something not right with it. The book is a new age work written with Christian terminology and is quite obviously not compatible with Christian belief. For example, The "Jesus" of "A Course in Miracles" is not the Son of God, never had a physical body, and therefore never really suffered on the cross. The reporter Tracy Moran has written a very good review of this in the EWTN file library for anyone who is interested.
Rating: Summary: A Monumental Book! Review: Truly a monumental book! By developing the ability to feel the presence of the Holy Spirit and learning to trust that every event in life will lead one to a universal experience, makes my dealing with life's trials far easier. Also, I highly recommend: Luminous by Peter Quest and Conversations with God.
Rating: Summary: Seek not to change the Course Review: According to the Amazon.com review, some people find the Course simplistic. Well, the Course says from the beginning that it IS simple, however it is the ego that is complex. The statement that "to heal is to make happy" is simple, but is almost never believed in this world. As Carolyn Mase said, to heal is very unattractive in this culture because we all bond over our wounds. The truth is, the Course is not at all simple. To truly study this Course is to devote many years and to question everything you ever thought you knew about anything. And if you ever get mad at this book, and want to throw it against a wall, then it's working. But please remember that the Course is a non-dualistic view of God. In other words, the Course teaches that evil does not exist because only the creations of God exist. Therefore, evil is OUR illusion and we are not to blame God for the problems we've created in this illusory world. The Course is not teachings about God, it is a teaching of the undoing of the ego's fear-based world view. According to the Course, God is beyond what can be taught. Not that we lack in our ability to learn, but that you only must learn things that you do not know. And in Reality we know only of God, because in Reality nothing exist but God. Oh, yeah, individual identity is an illusion.
Rating: Summary: Culmination of a long search Review: My spiritual quest began when my mother died and eventually led me to this book. It is changing my life and the way I look at the world. It is becoming part of me. I feel different and act different. People tell me I've changed - I seem happy. It's because I AM happy, and that's because of this book. Read a Return to Love by Marianne Williamson first, this will make the Course easier to understand. I also recommend the Urantia Book.
Rating: Summary: AT LONG LAST...... Review: I started my spiritual quest in the late 60's, and have read "A LOT" of spiritual books. This is , however , the max! Very probably my last spiritual book. I can't even imagine where a book would have to go to top this. I am only 150 pages into it, but no book I have ever read has made me stop so often to smile/cry because of its beautiful truths. For a 35 year seeker of truth who has done 'Most' of the diciplines, all I can say is "AT LONG LAST..."
Rating: Summary: Happiness is Within Review: I can not begin to tell you what a difference this book has made in my life! Not only has my whole thinking process changed, but I am able now to see answers to questions where anger or distrust had kept them hidden. "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear", and for me this book was the beginning of a new awakening. We have been given all that we need for our happiness, it is up to us to listen and follow the direction of the Holy Spirit, and to accept the gifts that God has given to us. To Know that we are Loved. I reccomend this book to anyone who is searching for the answers to what this life is all about, it will give you a whole new perspective and a chance to further develop your relationship with God and your brothers around you.
Rating: Summary: thank you Review: This book has been a god send to me . I have found it to be the only book that has given me answers that I FEEL are the truth. My faith has been restored in a God that I now see in every face I meet. I am slowly becoming the person I want to be.
Rating: Summary: Life healing book Review: This book answers all the questions I ever had regarding the nature of God, man, relationships, creation, heaven, hell, and how to be happy here and now. The study of this book has transformed, and is still tranforming, my life for the better. As a result of the changes others have seen in me, several of my long time friends have also become lovers of, and students of A Course in Miracles. In the 60's while still very young I used to pray that God would give us a new book - something that could be understood in my place and time. The Bible seemed so full of contradiction and confussion. This book is the answer to that prayer.
