Summary: Every word is gold
Review: I hope to never lose my youthful mind when such accomplished writers as Coelho reminds us, through "The Alchemist," to never forget that we all had a dream once in our lifetime. Speechless as I am, I attribute this feeling of fulfillment to this novel, for it has lifted an enormous weight from my soul. Regardless of the simplicity of the language, every word is gold. Nothing else I add to this review will surpass the magnificence of "The Alchemist." It is absolutely magical.

Summary: CAUTION- May be hazardous to those who do not want to think.
Review: The spirit that is truly on a journey will appreciate this book. After many years of spiritual quest some are allowed to visit a very special spiritual place. Paulo Coelho knows that place well and comes as close as possible to giving you a glimpse. This book joins the ranks of "The Prince" and "Evil: The Shadow Side of Reality." Let he who has eyes see and he who has ears listen. I envy the person who reads this book for the first time with eyes and ears open.

Summary: We all secretly admire Santiago
Review: No matter what race or creed a reader may be, they cannot help but feel a deep admiration for, perhaps a hint of jealousy toward, Santiago and his journey. So few people have the courage - because that's what it takes - to follow their dream. It's so much easier to fall into the rut of life: the routine, the job, the everyday things that eventually kill the spirit before the person even suspects that something is wrong. Whoever wrote for the Kirkus Reviews obviously lives in a glass house - this person sounded almost annoyed that everyone in the book "has to put in their two cents' worth". It doesn't take a genius to figure out that in reality, that's how life works. EVERYONE has an opinion about your life - your partner, parents, friends, co-workers, family, even people on the street. This book is anything but bland. On the contrary, it is an inspiration for those who feel that their lives control them instead of the other way around. It is not about dropping everything in search of your dream, but realizing that sometimes we get so stuck in the rut of life that we don't see our dream right under our nose. And yet, there it sits....just waiting....

Summary: A treasure
Review: I consider myself an avid reader, having read and loved Crime and Punishment, Metamorphosis and The Catcher in the Rye. (Three books I saw compared to this book in a review) This book is very special. I have read here that it was written for those who don't have a brain or don't know how to think. Clearly that isn't the case. This is a book that forces you to think and feel it deeply and apply it to your own life, otherwise, it will mean nothing. The lessons taught in it coincide with my religious beliefs (Mormonism) and strengthen them, giving me a different way to look at what I have believed all my life. The language is very simple, because the message here does not require anything more. This book is not for people who go to movies just for the special effects. Those who are willing to think with their HEART, SPIRIT as well as their MIND will find this book a priceless treasure.

Summary: Absolutely THE BEST and most powerful book I've ever read...
Review: I am a self professed evangelist of the book since I've read it. Absolutely love it's lessons without the "preachy" feel, and love the fact that the situations are those which every one of us can relate to - though all may not recognize them as they happen to us. I've given this book as a gift to several people, loaned my copy out to others, and have received the same enthusiasm that I felt.

Summary: Fabulous and essential reading
Review: I read the alchemist at a period in my life when I was very low, stuck in a rut and generally full of despair. It didn't solve my problems but it's very simplicity cut to the very heart of them and helped me to look at these problems with a clear and dispassionate eye. Everyone has points in their lives when they are stuck in a rut, depressed and convinced that no-one else can understand and frequently all it takes to find the strength and motivation to change our circumstances is the voice of a stranger, someone outside of our everyday lives who empathises and finds the words to express our sorrows. It has been said that life is simple, it is only human beings who seek to make it more complicated. Likewise, The Alchemist is a fable and does not seek to detract from its message with needless metaphors and over-sophistication. This book has no illusions of literary grandeur - it doesn't need any. Instead it has a quiet and subtle power which compels the reader to confront his/her fears and rejoice in our desires and aspirations. Only the most jaded or cynical can fail to be moved. I urge everyone to go out and buy it - I assure you that it will help you in your darkest hours and make brilliant the brightest of days.

Summary: Follow your dream and never stop dreaming....
Review: Hi, This book was recommended to me by an English high scholl teacher. As she was telling me the story, her usually stern looking face glowed with a gentle smile and a far away look in her eyes. She loved it and I went out to buy it that same day.

It is beautiful story, spontanious, exiting in a gentle sort of way. A story about folowing one's dream and maybe reavaluatimg our lives with everything that is already there. Just maybe...the reainbow we are searching for is right here...if only we would open our eyes.

I loved it, enjoyed every page to the end and would recommend to mothers reading to their children or to grandparents.....A book for all ages, all seasons.

Summary: Life-Altering Reading
Review: Since reading "The Alchemist" for the first time just 3 short months ago, I've taken positive steps to change my own life for the better. By applying the lessons learned by Santiago to my own life, I've discovered all new ways of viewing my world and those around me enjoying that world.

In the last 3 months I've given this book as a gift to a number of friends and loved ones, all of whom have raved much like I have over it. I highly recommend this book to anyone that needs to find inspiration, peace, or simply to put things in perspective. Do yourself a favor; buy it today.
