Summary: THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ
Review: Let me start by saying that even if I write a million words I wouldn't be able to describe how sweet this book is. I've been reading books for so many years now but I would proudly declare that THE ALCHEMIST was the very best book I have ever read so far because Mr.Paulo Coelho has created such a vivid and true story that makes it so clear to see THAT 'EVERYTHING' IS ACHIEVABLE IF WE REALLY WANTED SO" NOW AFTER I HAVE FINISHED READING THE ALCHEMIST I HAVE STARTED AGAIN READING IT AND I'LL NEVER STOP UNTIL I MEMORISE IT ALL BECAUSE EACH WORD IS A DELIGHT,EACH PAGE GIVES YOU MORE AND MORE REASONS TO BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS THAT YOU WILL SURELY ACHIEVE IF YOU REALLY WANT THEM TOO... OH,GOD,WHAT A ENJOYABLE READ..........

Summary: A Feast For The Mind
Review: If you like food for thought, this book is a feast. The story pulls you quickly through the 160 pages, but all the while you want to slow down and think about the concepts. This book delivers a strong spiritual message without being preachy or biased towards any particular religion. Inspirational. Motivational. Definately worth reading at least twice!

Summary: All the Universe can be observed in a single grain of sand
Review:
I checked this book out from the library, but I'm going to buy a copy and re-read it at regular intervals.

I read it over the course of one day, thought "nice fable" & began reading another book as soon as I finished this one. But I found that the lessons contained in this simple story of a shepherd boy seeking treasure, wouldn't be dismissed so easily. They must have taken up residence in my subconscious and kicked up some dust, because my mind keeps returning to the lessons of the story to find new and more subtle insights having formed.

These are lessons that we all know in our hearts, but that we forget as we get wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of our material lives. Lessons about listening to our hearts and following our dreams. Lessons about living in the moment, the transient nature of possessions and the illusion that we can even "possess" something to begin with. Lessons about freeing ourselves from fear and about understanding our lives as part of the energy of the Universe and understanding that everything will work out the way it was intended to. Lessons about trusting in signs, knowing that our lives have a grand purpose and that the forces of the Universe will conspire to help us fulfill that purpose. And the lesson that all of the fortunes and misfortunes we encounter in life are part of our spiritual education, and that it's not the earthly "treasure" we seek that's important but the lessons learned while in pursuit of it.

If you like to ponder the meaning of life, then let your mind and spirit mull over the lessons in this book. It's a quick and enjoyable read that will provide some new insights, or remind you of some old one's that you've forgotten.

Summary: beautiful
Review: this is such an incredible book. it puts meaning and life into words...how can language, which is completely constructed and contradictory, express such pure truth? coelho's way with words is incredible...do NOT miss out. read it soon. it will hopefully change and clarify things...

Summary: A good lesson to be learned...
Review: What better way to encourage someone to follow their dreams! Paulo Coelho has written a beautiful and inspiring story with a wonderfully powerful message.

Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy, is told by the King of Salem that the reoccuring dream he has been having can be fulfilled, that it is his destiny to travel to the Egyptian Pyramids to find his treasure. What seems like such an impossible thing turns into a quest to realize his dream, or Personal Legend. And so the journey begins...

Santiago meets many people along the way--some who want to help and some who only hinder. Readers will be uplifted by Santiago's determination and surprised by the outcome in his quest to follow his dream. Although not a life-changing story, it does put a new perspective on the importance of goals and aspirations and having the courage to meet them. Recommend this for a quick day or weekend read.

Summary: On first reading...
Review: On my first reading of "The Alchemist", I felt that I had read it many times before. I hadn't, of course. It simply felt that way. It is a quietly inspirational book, a book that tells the lessons we all learn as we go through our lives.

It is not a New Age book, it is not a Christian book, it is not a Muslim, Buddhist, Taoist, Hindu, or atheistic book. It is, instead, in intensely human book.

Best of all, it is an achingly beautiful book.

On my first reading of "the Alchemist", I found it taught me all that I knew. On my second reading, it taught me that what I thought I knew was merely sawdust. On my third reading, I discovered that I had created that sawdust, by building my own character... and that some of the timber I used was cheap, and should have been discarded.

I think I will read it again.

This is not a life-changing book. It is, instead, a life-affirming book.

Beautifully written, beautifully translated. Read it - once, twice, or many times.

Summary: ONE OF THE WORST BOOKS OF THE CENTURY
Review: This book is so full of clichés that i wont waste time talking about it. If you like proust, shakespeare, thomas mann, dante or even somerset maughan dont read it. this is not literature but a vulgar kind of religion.

Summary: A deep book that spoke to me.
Review: I picked up this book at a difficult time in my life, right after the loss of a loved one. I was amazed at the depth of the book. I actually felt as if the author and I were having a conversation. He wrote about what I was feeling, and thinking, and wondering. It's a quick read, with a simple story, but the simple story has many different levels. This is one of those books that will mean different things to those at different points in their life. To some, it will be a nice story. To others, it will be a roadmap for getting through a difficult time in life. I say this especially to those confused about why bad things happen in life, or why our dreams sometimes seem so far from being realized: get a good cup of coffee, sit down and read this book. You will not be sorry. To those simply looking for a good read - don't pass this by! And to those who feel as if life is perfect - read this and realize how perfect life really is.

Summary: Truth you cannot neglect
Review: Inevitable you would relate this fable with religious beliefs. Nonetheless, 90% of the world does have a religious belief of some sort; so by believing in destiny you are also believing a higher being is in control of that. The book had done a good job in describing the journey lies ahead for any searcher of fate, it is easy to relate real-life experience with what happened to Santiago. Coelho had done a crafty and inspirational job.

Summary: A Gem! One of my favorite books of all time
