Summary: it was all right
Review: this book was ok. it was kind of corny in some parts, but it had a good plot and led you deep into your heart. it might, however, be a little too deep for some people.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Beautiful Book
Review: This a beautiful book about following your dream. It was well written and the characters are just wonderful. This and The Butterfly (Jay Singh) are the two books I would recommend for any one on the verge of following their dream. It's the little push between action and inaction.

Summary: Fun book with messages about the self aware universe
Review: This was a story one of my high school students gave me to read. I read it over a weekend, and I could not put it down. It was not the greatest book I have ever read, but it entertained me and was a nice break from much of what I usually read. It is a fast read, and it brought smiles to my face. I also enjoyed its synchronistic messages. I would recommend this book. When I have children I will definetely read it to them, and encourage them to read it as well.

Summary: the greatest therapy in the world
Review: this book changed my life, as cliche as it sounds. after reading it, my outlook on life did a complete 180. before i was despondent, but this book helped me realize that everything happens for a reason. even when things seem bad, they could be just what you need to realize your dream. i recommend this book to ANYONE, any age, any race, any nationality; everyone should read this book at least once.

Summary: A New Age Con, Pseudo-Literature for Ignorant Non-Readers.
Review: I read 'The Alchemist' just to satisfy my curiosity about a book that has been translated to dozens of languages and has captivated its readers the world over.

I found it to be a disastrously contrived, poorly crafted 'fable', the lowest comon denominator of many boring fables. It is a New Age con aimed at masses of insecure and unsophisticated globalized readers, a low attempt to extract a formula out of the truely inspirational 'The Little Prince', pepper it with 'spiritual' mumbo-jumbo and sell the result for profit to consumers who are supposed to be looking for 'transcendence, meaning and inspiration'.

Summary: GREAT FABLE!!!
Review: This book, Who Moved My Cheese (Spencer Johnson),Self Matters (Dr.Phil) and The Butterfly (Jay singh) were my favorite books of the year. I got many books in my stocking and I must say this was my favorite! Buy this book, you won't regret it.

Summary: I've bought 15 copies...
Review: This book has 2 purposes: it is a fable; a story about a shepherd. It is also a life lesson about the paths that are presented to each one of us. Which path do you choose? It is FATE. You can read this book for the story, or you can read this book for the LESSON.

It only takes about 4 hours to read this book. It has an AMAZING message within the story. I have bought this book for 15 of my friends and family. I have read the book 4 times. My best advice: relate it to your own life.

Summary: "Little Prince" for Dummies
Review: I hated this book. If you've ever saw only the beginning of a movie, and already knew how it ended, this books reminds you strongly of that. I know that it is a fairy tale, but the unrealistic circumstances that surround this boy's life are at times ridiculous, and even disheartening when you think of real life situations. People, save your money and check out the Little Prince instead. All the important things to learn in life are in that book, and as opposed to The Alchemist, it is not ego-centric. It really bothers me when people equate The Alchemist to the Little Prince. It's more like "The Little Prince for Dummies."

Summary: Simpy delightful and enlightening
Review: I really thought this book was amazing. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I was so captivated from the begining, that i could hardly put it down. It really has a great philosophy that makes you think. I definitely recommend this for any reader!!

Summary: A book of truth
Review: A story of a young shepherd boy who gives up his flock in order to seek out the treasure that appears in his dreams, "The Alchemist" is a tale of the quest for knowledge, fulfillment and one's "Personal Legend." Coelho gives us a lesson in truth and life that supports the words of author Muriel Rukeyser, "The universe is made up of stories, not atoms."
So many of us put our dreams aside and lead the lives of stability expected of us. The boy in Coelho's story realizes that although it is not always the most comfortable path to take, he must listen to his heart and refuse to give up his dream of treasure at the ancient pyramids of Egypt. On his way, the boy realizes not only what it means to hold onto a dream, but also what it means to be a part of the world we live in.
This is a book that will join the other much-read favorites on my bookshelf. Coelho has created a guide to life for those of us unwilling to toss away our dreams.
