Rating: Summary: About time Review: Anyone who has been a victim or knows a victim should read this book. There have been so many movies and books dealing with this subject (think McCrae's BARK OF THE DOGWOOD or SYBIL) that pretty much everyone is familiar with the "surface" issues of the problem. But what we don't hear enough about is the "how to." This book helps in that direction. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Recommend this Book for ALL Review: Cameron takes you into the world of a child sexual abuse survivor and explains in layman terms how to help, deal, and cope with the process of healing. I brought this book for not only myself but my husband. My husband devoured the book in about a week. If you area survivor of child sexual abuse and really want to give your significant other or partner a gift buy this book. It will help them understand you, your feelings, and the child within. Actually my favorite chapter is the Child Within, where he speaks about the inner child. There are a lot of authors out there who DO NOT talk about the inner child as he does. With such understanding and sensitivity. If you are a partner or significant other, you will find this book enlightening. You will finally understand the survivors anger, grief, and pain. You will learn how to back off and give space or embrace them for comfort. This is also a good book for therapist who are working with couples or families. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: What Men Need to Know About Women Who Are Healing! Review: Grant Cameron and I argue constantly on the Internet on a number of subjects. However, this book was so right on target that I can find little to disagree with him. Grant's book helped me understand why my special friend is the way she is, and, in fact, the very things that she says are echoed by Grant from his own experience of helping his wife heal from childhood sexual abuse. The road to healing for the woman abused during childhood is hard and filled with difficulties, but partners may not be prepared for just how difficult the process may be on them. Grant has prepared an outline, a road map for those with the courage and concern to stand by the woman they love while she goes through the ordeal--and it is indeed an ordeal--of healing. If one is the same situation as Grand, they cannot do better than heed his advice and learn from his experiences.

Rating: Summary: Not recommended Review: I bought this book for my husband. After reading a few pages of it, he had to stop reading it. It gave him no hope of surviving the abuse with me. This book is very negative and I do not recommend this to anyone.
I do, however, recommend Allies In Healing! I can't say enough about this book. Go out and get this and start understanding the process to help your partner survive!
Rating: Summary: helping wife through healing process Review: My therapist recommended the book What about Me? My wife and I have read a couple of books for partners. But I found this book very straight forward and to the point. There is a chapter in the book called the crisis stage which we both found very helpful. The fact that Mr.Cameron has been through the process of helping his wife through the healing of sexual abuse is an example of how you can both work together.
I recommend this book for any partner helping a loved one deal with childhood sexual abuse.
Rating: Summary: allow the healing to begin Review: reading this book not only allows for the healing to take place but helps the sugnificant other in your life to understand what you are going through. Very well put together. I also recommend the following books based on the same type of Subject: Nightmares Echo, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings
Rating: Summary: healing from sexual abuse Review: The book shocked me when I started reading it. It was as if I was reading about myself through the whole book. One of the chapters that covered suicide thoughts made me feel like I was not alone. Reading this book gave myself and my husband a better understanding of what to expect when healing from sexual abuse. I can't say enough about this book. It's not only well written and very easy to understand but it is written by someone who has been through the healing process with his partner. Thumbs up on this one!
Rating: Summary: A Great Resource for Partners of Survivors! Review: This book has everything you need to know, and is written in a style that makes you feel like you're sitting in the living room with a good buddy who just happens to have gone through the same thing you're going through. This is an outstanding resource, and should be on every partner of a survivor's shelf.
