Rating: Summary: Will change your life! Review: This book is amazing. It delves into your inner psyche and explains why we hold on to our possessions. No other "motivational" or feng shui book I've read has ever inspired me to actually act and "practice what is preached", and immediately at that! This book is unique in that it relates feng shui and clutter-clearing not just to your home, but all aspects of your life (work, relationships, health, your physical and mental state, etc.) ...
Rating: Summary: Clear Your Clutter With Feng Shui Review: I read this book in one day! I couldn't put it down. It motivated me to do a thorough clearing of my home to get rid of all that idle clutter that I haven't used for more that a year and I made $300.00 at my yard sale!
Rating: Summary: Clutter leaving, finally Review: I have always been a pack rat and have always had clutter everywhere! I received the tapes on a Friday afternoon and began listening. They so inspired and comforted me that I started clearing as I was listening. I didn't know at the time that there would be a need for many of the items that I was taking from shelves and closets, but was able to answer the call with a van full from floor to ceiling with items that left my home for a new life with someone who needed them. I have been able to let go of so much stuff. Kingston really hit on the areas where I have problems and inspired me to take action.
Rating: Summary: Speaking of clutter clearing... Review: The editor should have cleared a little clutter when publishing this book. I had to read through 7 chapters of the author puffing herself up with examples of her "successes" and telling us a bunch of stuff we already know (clutter is oppressive, reasons why we collect clutter, etc. DUH! I know that stuff and/or I don't care. I bought the book to find out what to _do_ about it!). Anyway, chapters 8 and 9 almost give some information on clutter in feng shui, chapters 16 and 17 actually suggest how to approach the decluttering task, and the rest is fluff. Beware - there is very little actual feng shui in this book, and only slightly more useful information on how to clear your clutter. There are even bonus chapters completely unrelated to either feng shui or clutter; instead they're on clearing out your colon and the like. In all, I found roughly 37 pages of the 166 actually useful. Talk about clutter!
Rating: Summary: Cleared My Clutter Review: ...I am in the process of relocating back to my home in New York. Prior to reading this book, I dreaded packing for this move. When I got home the day I purchased the book, I began reading the first chapter. I was so amazed at what I was reading that I put the book down and began clearing out the clutter. I opened the boxes that I had already packed and went through them. After going through them again, ten boxes became four boxes, and it took off from there. I had paperwork from 1992 that I did not want to throw away because I knew that eventually I would need it. Guess what? I threw it all away. I thought that if I needed anything in the future, I could go on the Internet and get exactly what I am looking for, and it would be up-to-date. To make a long story short, this book has truly helped me get rid of things that I did not want to part with for whatever reasons, and I truly feel lighter in my heart for having done so. I am even sleeping better than I have in a long time. This book is excellent, and I believe it can truly help anyone put a new perspective on how to live a more fulfilling life just by getting rid of clutter, and putting things in the proper order.Thank you so much for helping me to understand what clutter in you life can do to it, and how getting rid of clutter can open up a whole new world of possibilities for a brighter, happier future.
Rating: Summary: Clear your clutter and your mind will follow! Review: Fantastic book. It's absolutely incredible (almost spooky) how well the tips and techniques put to use in this book really help you day to day. This is not a self help book as much as a self help miracle. Also, if any of you out there are adults with ADD like me, trust me, it's worth every penny. I've already decided to buy her other book, "Creating Sacred Space with Feng Shui."
Rating: Summary: Inspirational and motivational Review: After several years of cluttering, I read this book. It inspired and motivated me to start clearing space like I've never done before. It's very well written and easy to understand. Karen Kingston shares experiences from different parts of the world that are truly amazing. She gives clear and concise definitions of why we keep things and how ridding ourselves of them can be a liberating experience. She also explains how clutter affects our energy levels and many aspects of our everyday lives. The book gave me hope in more ways than one. Since reading it, I've cleared several areas of my home, have more space and energy, and I've donated many of my belongings to charity, family and friends. I feel more free and happy now that my energy is gradually being restored. If you feel like you're a slave to clutter, this book can change your mind. You don't have to sit around and feel hopeless anymore. I feel it's been a tremendous help and I've been recommending it to all my family and friends who suffer from packrat syndrome!
Rating: Summary: Educational and Inspiring Review: This was a great introduction to making one's home tidy and efficient, and possibly also spiritually 'correct'. Not only was it educational and FUN, but it inspired me to collect and dump a ton of useless stuff I was hoarding, freeing up new space for the things I love. Wonderful!
Rating: Summary: Inspiring! Review: Informative, motivating, and educational! An important book for all of us.
