Summary: I loved this book!
Review: For me, dealing with my stuff has always been a struggle and I had lots of anxiety when I tried to get rid of it. Karen Kingston has such an easy, clear way of communicating why keeping it is so much harder than getting rid of it. Her concepts enabled me to step into an entirely new paradigm and begin to joyfully pack it up, give it away (even new things with tags still on that I never wore but saved because I had invested the money...)or throw it away. I took a week off from work and each day, I couldn't wait to get at it again. Get it, do it, you'll be glad.

Summary: It Sure Helps Me!
Review: It's been said before and I'll say it again - this book is very helpful for people who want to clear the clutter out of their lives but have trouble getting rid of anything. I bought it several years ago and found myself underlining almost every other sentence. Earlier this year I signed up for "FlyLady" (an online support group for people with messy homes) which has been very helpful, but I found that if I supplement my "FlyLady" work with daily readings from this book, the combination of the two is very powerful. (I agree that the chapter on colonic cleansing is a strange aberration in an otherwise wonderfully helpful book.) I continue to re-read it whenever I feel myself getting bogged down in my efforts to divest myself of my worldly possessions.

Summary: I enjoyed most of the book
Review: It's a good introduction to Feng Shui and how clutter can affect tle flow of energy (chi). I stopped reading when I got to the chapter on colon cleansing, so I'm not sure about the last couple of chapters. It's a good book if you're looking to learn a bit about Feng Shui, but I prefer "Move Your Stuff, Change Your Life" by Karen Rauch Carter.

Summary: REALLY GOOD BOOK!
Review: This book was the best gift I ever gave myself. It empowered me to "let go" of so many things in my home that were attachments I really don't need. I suppose some people don't have difficulty getting rid of things, but if you are someone who does, this book is definitely for you. Each person who asked to read my book since I bought it has been equally fascinated. Buy the book!

Summary: Clear your clutter change your life!!
Review: I picked this book up at an airport bookstore because I needed a light easy read during my layovers. I finished the book by the end of my trip and was so anxious to get home so I could start thowing stuff out! Although there is not much talk about feng shui it does focus on one important aspect of it- Getting Rid of Clutter! However she does take a more holistic approach to it. Its not just about getting rid of material possesition or organizing them Its about letting go of emotional baggage and objects that may remind you of not so great times in your life. For instance I bought a blanket when I lived in a city I despised, with people I dint like, and had a job I could not stand! Every time I looked at the blanket it reminded me of that time in my life. Why would I hold on to such an object? Well, Because it was a perfectly fine blanket that would be useful when I have guests over. Karen helps break down this type of reasoning, and other excuses we make for not de- cluttering. Trust me I feel alot better now that I never Have to see that blanket again. It really is liberating to throw it in a huge trash bag ,send it off to the mission, and forget about it! She even takes the guilt out of throwing out gifts. Something I had been struggling with since my recent wedding brought an arrangement of strange, and assorted gifts into my home, and my life. "This will come In handy some day " becomes a phrase of this past.
This book has allowed me tho breathe easier as if a huge weight has been lifted! Yes Karen Does like to toot her own horn a bit but I find it motivating. She talks about every type of clutter. Old stero equiptment, collections, books, cds, Kitcen appliances ,and cookware, clothing ,broken stuff you'll never fix. cutting old ties (friends that drain you) and tieing up loose ends, (Responsibilities you have been putting off). I even decluttered my make-up bag
If you need something to get you started in feng shui and motivate you this is just the thing. Get this book, use it, then you can worry about fixing that missing corner in the southwest section in your bedroom:)

Summary: highly recommend this book
Review: This book is very motivational! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get motivated to clear their clutter. Even if you're not motivated to do so, this book will get you there. I was so energized after reading this! It doesn't give you a "you have to do it all now" approach which is great if you feel overwhelmed by the idea of starting a clean up project.

Summary: what a friend said
Review: I lent her the book. She had so much clutter and memories burdening her. When she returned it, she said that the book had changed her life. (And she was clearly not saying that for dramatic effect.) She was able to resolve some emotional issues, and even move her family overseas successfully.

Summary: my most valuable book
Review: If you feel down because you live with junk but don't have the energy, passion or know-how to let it go, this is the book for you. I'm not even sure I subscribe to Feng Shui or space clearing (which this book discusses), but this is a must-have book for the person who needs a push to declutter their home. Ms. Kingston has a wonderfully refreshing style of writing, and this well-organized book offers clear and concise advice regarding various types of clutter (from how to declutter a kitchen to letting go of unnecessary letters and photos). She also touches upon how to stay on top of future clutter and how to organize, and how it is just as important to clean your mind and body. I can't count the number of times I have opened this book just to soak up a few pages of inspiration. I have seen another "declutter expert" on Oprah, and I have scanned other declutter books, but I sincerely feel nothing comes close to this book.

Summary: Enables you to look through the clutter to the causes
Review: A couple of my friends and I have been circulating this book back and forth for rereading for a couple of years now. Every time I read it, I throw out more junk.

I've read many books on clutter and junk and this is the only one I would recommend. Some books give you lists of rules to follow and, if you are the type that has to be told exactly what to do, maybe that is fine. Some books make cleanliness a religion. If that is what you need, then that is fine for you. But if what you want is to be enabled to let go of the stuff that is cluttering your life and do it on your own terms and time, then this book will be a huge help.

Read it and think.

Summary: A Great Book for Feng Shui Starters
Review: It is a wonderful book since it shows the hidden area of Feng Shui. However, do not expect this book to show too much of placement art of Feng Shui. Nevertheless, if you have used or are using the placement art of Feng Shui, then read this book first. It is a great book for Feng Shuit starters but again it is not complete Feng Shui book. Use Feng Shui books by Susan Too if you want better placement strategies for your home but again it must be combined with this book.
