Summary: Clean your clutter, but please donate!
Review: Overall, I found this a helpful and inspiring book though I felt donating cast-off items was given low priority in favor of throwing things in the garbage to "get rid of it as soon as possible". I appreciate the author's intention to create a smooth flow during the clutter-purge, but just about every town has one or two drop-off centers for donations. In a high consumerism society that can afford to accumulate clutter, there are often many items that would benefit others. The author suggests renting a dumpster for a month or so to facilitate the cleaning process--certainly if someone could manage the expense and irritation of an ugly dumpster in their yard they could manage some trips to the Salvation Army! If cleaning clutter creates a positive energy flow and checks over-consumerism, why not carry that thought through by giving high priority to donating what's still useful?

Summary: forget the rest
Review: I have read several de-cluttering books. All of them seems to be written by well meaning neat freaks. True, they offered ideas and encourgement, but very little how and why. Some of them had cartoons of what they precieved as a funny situation Well I never thought my clutter problem was funny or could be cured by throwing out "every thing but your spouse."Ms Kingston's book deals with what happens to your home and your mind if you don't get your clutter under control. I am going to order her Sacred Space so I will have it when ALL my junk is gone.

Summary: A gem of a book!
Review: This book is more than just a "get-organized" guide. Kingston provides the reader with a profound explanation of WHAT CLUTTER IS, WHY YOU HAVE CLUTTER, WHAT IT IS DOING TO YOUR LIFE, AND WHAT YOU CAN DO TO GET RID OF IT!

Summary: Easy to understand for the first-time feng shui exposure.
Review: This book should be a first approach to feng shui if you are a "collector" of stuff. There are references to why and what lead us to accumulating clutter. When I started clearing clutter I was amazed at the personal rejuvenation of energy and control over my surroundings. Added harmony to the home environment ensued. I am now making small changes to more "feng shui" my home and personal office, and will study those changes to ascertain any resulting benefits. Added benefits to this book are basic discussions regarding physical health, which can open your mind to how we treat and expose our bodies to certain foods and chemicals. This book is a great introduction to the feng shui process and has given me great insight into the benefits of incorporating feng shui principles into my personal home environment. I can also see the benefits of this personal experience and additional education as a representative of sellers and buyers as a real estate sales professional.

Summary: Liberating!!!
Review: I, like one other viewer, I have been a clutterholic for many years and now I have liberation. I started with my office and I am currently working on my home to rid myself of unnecessary 'stuff.' Thank God for this book. Having lots of clutter only stiffles ones growth and concentration. I work and accomplish so much more when things are in order. I appreciate this book and certainly share its techniques to all those who wish to think clearer.

Summary: I love this book - it changed me!!!
Review: I've been a clutterholic for years, but after reading this book, I've been clearing my apt. with a passion. No other book or article on clutter, organizing, Feng Shui, etc. has ever had this kind of immediate impact on me. I'm clearing out papers, clothing, tapes, books -- you name it. And Karen is right: it is a liberating experience. I feel great. I love this book so much I'm going to give it to my mom, sister and a bunch of friends. I highly, highly recommend it.

Summary: If you're buried in your "stuff", this book's for you!
Review: What a wonderful, insightful book. Although I'm just beginning to weed out my "stuff", this book makes the mind/spirit/materialism connection. I have mentally gone through all the things that are robbing me of vital energy and can't wait to get started. I had no idea why I had no energy or couldn't sleep well. It was all my stuff taking up space and energy. This book has made so much sense. It says we use only 20% of our stuff 80% of the time. I certainly believe it. It's a wonderful book. I just wish I had its wisdom years ago. I wouldn't have gotten so bogged down now. Great, great book!

Summary: This will get you going
Review: If you are looking for inspiration and motivation to clear up the clutter in your life as well as in your closets, this is the book! I teach Feng Shui and often find that people need assistance in getting to the root of the clutter in their lives as well as in relationships. This book will uncover the basis for your "pack rat" tendencies and will give you the basics on how to clear away whatever you no longer need in your life.

If you know you need to start cleaning up your life, but you don't know where to start, buy this book. It will assist you -gently- in your quest.

Summary: Clear, concise and very helpful!
Review: This book is easy to read and full of information. It confirmed feelings I've had intuitively for many years, but have been unable to act upon. My areas of clutter are specifically defined in the book. I am encouraged to get started in clearing my clutter. I also appreciated the clearing body clutter section. I would recommend this book for anyone who is interested in learning more about Feng Shui.

Summary: Magical!
Review: This book is magic. I had very little intention of clearing my clutter, but this book kept falling into my lap, literally! After reading just the first few chapters, I had to put it down and get to work! I've been a clutter-aholic and collector of (fine)..things...all my life. Suddenly, I'm taking multiple garbage bags of things from my walk in closests, breaking up collections, etc. I have a lot more work to do, but so far we (my family and I) have cleared out an incredible amount of ..Stuff... and feel so much better! One funny part I do want to share, a clear sign to me I was reading the right book was the chapter about Collections. Karen says "...while the more eccentric gather...sewing machine attachments,..." Among my other "collections" I DO have a collection of sewing machine attachments! OPPPPS. I'm getting this book for all my friends and relatives for the Holidays. I'm not telling them it's magical. I just want to stand back and watch.
