Summary: I've got a hunch you'll love this book.
Review: After reading this wonderfully entertaining book, I now know what those "gut feelings" I've had throughout my life were all about. I also now understand those "hunches" and "flashes of insight" that I rarely took advantage of. Lynn Robinson makes it all clear, and throws in some intriguing history and fun exercises along the way. From now on, I'm taking her strong suggestion to heed the hints and nudges I get from my inner guide. I wish I'd had her wise counsel and friendly, practical advice when I was still in high school and thinking about becoming a writer...I might be reviewing my own book today instead of her's.

Summary: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Staying an Idiot
Review: Every phenomenon in this book has a known explanation, ranging from outright fraud to self-delusion. Methodical science has brought us genuine stuff (like computers and the Internet) that's a whale of a lot more wonderful than these "psychic" phenomena. But you can't have it just by wishing for it. And if you could, the world would not be improved, because then the terrorists could curse 'planes into crashing.

Summary: A quick fun read to build openness, awareness and self-trust
Review: Every so often a book appears that is not only fun to read, but richly rewarding as well. This delightful guide to being psychic is just such a book. Author Lynn A. Robinson has peeled away the centuries-old layers of misinformation and hype from this ancient and re- discovered subject, and has presented it in a fun reality-based approach that makes it's application practical, easy-to-learn, and confidence building. Though she's been a practicing psychic (she prefers "intuitive") for more than half her life, she downplays the predictive aspect of her profession and writes with passion about using one's intuition as a powerful guide to making positive and appropriate choices in life. This approach is appealing, even to a skeptic like me, but I can easily see this book becoming an immensely valuable tool for people who pursue the "enlightened" path, as well. Even if your mother told you not to mess around with that stuff; even if you're writing a book denouncing all things paranormal; and especially if you scoff at new age phenomena like psychic hotlines, you owe it to yourself to buy this book. The least you'll get from it is a good, informative read. And who knows? You may even get to be psychic. Two thumbs up.

Summary: Skillfully done; wonderfully fascinating.
Review: Having just delved into Updike's latest collection of non-fiction pieces, I'm finding "Being Psychic" a refreshing break from the ultra-literate elegance so typical of this wonderful writer. Elegance, of course, wouldn't have worked with this subject, which requires a lighter, more direct approach -- the kind so skillfully and effectively employed by the "famous psychic" Lynn A. Robinson (who describes herself as more of an "intuitive consultant") and her co-writer, LaVonne Carlson Finnerty. For its genre, this is, quite simply, an excellent book, filled with wonderfully fascinating stuff and spiced with easy exercises to help us tune into our psychic/intuitive abilities. I can't help but wonder how Mr.Updike would review such a book . . . or better yet, how he would use it. I suspect he'd give it a quick read, nod his head approvingly, and pronounce it (with bemusement) interesting. And then, secretly, use the exercises to intuit his next book of fiction. Perhaps even use it as the core of his work! I'd be first in line (oops...ON-line) to order it.

Summary: A treasure of a book; life-changing and fun to read.
Review: I admit it. I'm a new-age aficionado. I've probably read more books on more new-age subjects - especially things psychic - than any other physical-state being on Earth. That's why I feel compelled to spread the good news about this amazing book. Though the word "idiots" adorns its cover, its content is decidedly skewed to the intelligent reader of "How-to" and "Guide-to" literature. Ms.Robinson's fresh, candid, down-to-earth approach to an historically vague and mysterious subject is so remarkable, it almost seems like the first readable book ever written on the subject. Take my word for it, the history is fascinating and inviting, the advice is supportive and commonsensical, and the exercises are easy and meaningful. All in all, "Being Psychic" is more than an exceptional book; it's a rewarding experience that can literally change your life. In case you haven't guessed yet, I wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful book, and I congratulate Lynn A. Robinson, her co-author, and MacMillan Publishing for presenting it to the world. Thank you.

Summary: fun, informative, properly cautious
Review: I am wary of books purporting to reveal easy, instant knowledge of mysterious powers. I am especially wary of popular books on psychic development, because so many are filled with nonsense. This book is an exception. The title may ward off some potential readers, but that would be a pity, because this "Idiot's Guide" isn't. It's a fun, informative read. The scientific information is surprisingly up-to-date, the authors are properly cautious about many things psychic, and the exercises they offer are quite reasonable.

Summary: Enormously helpful and fun to read!
Review: I can't say enough about this book! I found everything I could possibly have hoped for to help me develop my own psychic/intuitive powers. I've heard about Lynn A. Robinson, and though I've never talked with her, I feel I know her through friends who have listened to her tapes and called her for readings. "Astounding" and "Amazing" are the two words I kept hearing, and after reading her book, I can see why. I also picked up a lot of fascinating history on psychic phenomena throughout the ages. I always thought of it as "New Age", but in fact it's been around forever. For me, this is an entertaining and enormously helpful book. And I sense that you're going to like it too.

Summary: Opens up a world of possibilities.
Review: I found this book incredibly useful and -- as I'm beginning to find out -- entirely capable of helping me discover a whole new world of possibilities. I'm sure there's never been a book like this (for Idiots or otherwise!). I'd love to read a purer discussion of intuition by Ms. Robinson. She seems to have a handle on this subject that transcends the genre. I'm already looking forward to her next book.

Summary: Great for beginners and newcomers alike!
Review: I highly recommend this book for everyone, old or new to the psychic world. It's got tons of information, tidbits about history of psychic phenomenon, and easy to understand translations and definitions. It's a great book and definitely worth buying!

Summary: Prognosis: A better life
Review: I never get suckered into reading stuff like this, but when a physician friend of mine suggested I check it out, I figured Hey, why not? Bottom line: I'm glad I did. I learned a lot about a subject I never would have investigated, and I also learned a few things about improving an already good life. So thanks, Doc. And thanks to the good and talented folks who put this book together. I feel like an idiot for not reading it sooner.
