Rating: Summary: Better than the Twilight Zone Review: Be careful what you ask! The answers are astute, uncanny, and often funny. The minute you pick up this book decision making is easy - what to have for lunch, whether or not to raise interest rates - the book KNOWS. It reminds me of an old Twilight Zone episode where William Shatner and his wife stop off at a diner. There's a napkin holder on the table with a bobbing devil head on top that dispenses yes/no answers for a penny. Carol Bolt is much more witty, and there's no devil involved.
Rating: Summary: Finally we've found the answer! Review: Have you ever been torn between two decisions or even two relationships and not known which direction to turn? Well relax because now all you have to do is flip a page and have the answer served to you. This is not a book that you read in the traditional sense from cover to cover. You use it as a tool. Think of a problem, hold the book, and flip to any page and your problem is solved. Are all of the answers clear cut? No but then again neither is life.
Rating: Summary: This Book can lelp you learn your true feelings. Review: I bought this book after asking a question and getting an answer that truly surprised me-not because the answer was necessarily true, but because it was the way I "truly felt". Instead of using this book as some sort of oracle-which could actually harm you by leading you on a path away from your true self-try using it another way. Ask your question-get your answer then ask yourself if you liked or agreed with the answer. This way the book can actually be a source for pulling up your true feelings. For this to work most effectively you should ask questions related to yourself and not about others. My wife and I have enjoyed this book by asking questions together. I have learned more about what concerns her using this book than any other book or game you could think of. If you plan to buy this book to be some sort of guide for your life, then I would suggest you not buy it. However, If you want some laughs and you use it as a barometer of what you truly want- this could become one of your favorite books.
Rating: Summary: At least as good as a shrink! Review: I laughed right out loud when I opened it. At last, ANSWERS, not just more QUESTIONS, brief and on only one page at that! I looked around me to see if my outburst had been noticed, then, following the directions on the back, I "asked" the question that had been on my mind that day. When the "time was right," as directed, I opened the book and there was my answer: "You are too close to see." I thought about this instant wisdom. Not bad, and a whole lot cheaper than $175 an hour!
Rating: Summary: Fun Book Review: I received this book a week ago and I've had so much fun with it. It is a great conversation piece for when friends or family come over. You don't have to be a believer in tarot or oracle cards or any of that, it is a fun book and you can take the answers however lightly or seriously you want. I've found that no matter what question I ask, it's right on target. I am enjoying this book and recommend it.
Rating: Summary: HA! Review: I was cataloging it for our collection and I laughed so hard! It is the magic eight ball of books.
Rating: Summary: luv it! Review: I was initially attracted to this book by its unusual size, and looks. Just the right size and thickness to comfortably fit into your hands, and the elegant gold lettering on the shiny black cover looks great. It would make a great coffee table book. Then I read the title and laughed out loud in the middle of a huge crowd of book buyers. I couldn't help it. FANTASTIC, the Book of Answers? THIS is what I've been looking for and hadn't realized! I followed intructions and asked, should I buy this book? The answer? It will bring you luck. I bought it.
Rating: Summary: Instant Serendipity. Review: It was actually quite amazing, I was in a bookstore with a friend and we stumbled across this book. She mentioned that her brother had a copy and he used it all the time. She proceeded to tell me a long story involving the book, her brother, a criminal adventure and a last minute escape from the police. I turned to the book, still awed by her story and asked: "Should I buy this book". I opened it to a random page and the answer I recieved was: "That would be a waste of money."

Rating: Summary: There's nothing like an unbiased opinion. Review: Me: "Should I continue to be self-employed?" Book: "of course." Me: "Are you sure I should continue to be self-employed?" Book: "give it all you've got." Me: "Are you really sure I should continue to be self-employed?" (Admittedly, this was a day I was frustrated with my clients and myself, and was considering bagging the whole deal.) Book: "mind your own business." (!) I have been asking this book questions for over a year now (I am one of the lucky hundred or so people who had the opportunity to buy a copy of the artist edition of this book when the author was selling them at Bailey-Coy bookstore in Seattle in 1998). I have asked the book dumb questions ("Should I have spaghetti for dinner?"), serious questions ("Is my father dying?"), and questions in frustrating moments (see exchange between book and I above). The answers, while usually startlingly applicable, never fail to confirm for me what I know to be true--whether I want to believe it or not.
