Summary: Choosing God's best
Review: Choosing God's best, by Dr. Don Rauniker, teaches about the fundamentals of courtship. It impacted me personally more than any other non-fiction how-to books I have yet to read. I really enjoyed it because it was true to actual life, and was in the "commoner's" language that someone like myself can understand. Dr. Rauniker goes over the pitfalls of the dating scene in comparison with the fundamental rules of courtship. Then as you go through the book he illustrates the almost complete foolishness that dating is, and then proceeds to define courtship and how to do it yourself. The reason I agree so completely with his doctrine is because the book is written from a Christian's viewpoint, and as a Christian I can see the sense of it. His main argument is to ask yourself this question, "Do you want your mate to be a 'good choice, or a God choice?' " His quotation of appropriate Bible verses also serves to strengthen his argument. In the introduction he quotes Jeremiah 29:11, as follows: "For I know I have plans for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you,........................" He calls courtship "God's Antidote for Dating Disease," and cautions readers that "The principles of dating are man centered and culturally determined;..." and that "...dating prepares your for divorce..." and "...dating can leave long-lasting emotional scars..." Then later in the book, he gives several examples of couples who used to courtship process and how they are doing now. This book is very Christian based, and the theme is what the title implies, it shows you how to let God choose his best for you! This book really blessed me and it changed my outlook on the entire male/female relationship process in the world today. I think that in the years to come, this book will remain a lifesaver for those few people fed up with the whole dating scene.

Summary: Biblically based principles of male/female relationships
Review: Do you need to read Choosing God's Best? Read the endorcements below from BILL BRIGHT President-Campus Crusade For Christ; DEREK WEBB-Caedman's Call; STEPHEN ARTERBURN-Cofounder/ Chairman, New Life Clinics; ELISABETH ELLIOT-Author and speaker. I'm sure your'll decide as so many other teenagers, college students, singles and parents that Choosing God's Best is a must read book!

"In Choosing God's Best, Dr. Don Raunikar offers hope for the single man or woman who is disillusioned with the modern dating scene. Drawing upon time-tested biblical principles, Dr. Raunikar makes a convincing case for the benefits of courtship based on God's wisdom verses a dating relationship based on man's." BILL BRIGHT President-Campus Crusade For Christ

"I feel like Choosing God's Best was specifically written for me. Few would argue that the current system of dating is in desperate need of reform. Dr. Raunikar goes even farther with his radical, biblical solution to the perils and pitfalls of dating. My only regret is that I didn't have this book 5 years ago. Thanks, Dr. Raunikar, for being a radical." DEREK WEBB-Caedman's Call

"So glad to see one more book addressing what I've called 'the dating mess.' Choosing God's Best is straightforward and scriptural. I especially appreciated the seven categories of dating which are seldom understood." ELISABETH ELLIOT-Arthur and speaker

"I wish Dr. Raunikar's book had been around when I was dating. So much pain, so many missed opportunities and so many mistakes that could have been avoided if I had used these amazing principles." STEPHEN ARTERBURN-Cofounder/ Chairman, New Life Clinics

Summary: A dose of wisdom: Let God choose your mate for you!
Review: Dr. Raunikar covers a biblically based method to find the "right one" in an amazingly simple and up-front method of writing. He certainly managed to captivate me with his constant references to real-life and biblical applications. This book more than adequately explains the perils of the formula for dating, which he has called "breaking up minus one." He shows how dating trains one to break up, but how biblical courtship trains one for a life long commitment to a godly, but undeniably imperfect companion. He also shows how your relationship with Christ is the most important part of the foundation of marriage, and shows the reader several methods that can help to make you ready for God's choice in your life. For me, his simplest, yet most powerful piece of advice is a fresh dose of wisdom in a dating world gone wrong: Let God choose your mate for you! This book is a must-read for any single who is serious in their search for a marriage partner.

Summary: Excellent relationship learning guide - a must read for all!
Review: Dr. Raunikar has done an excellent job of capturing God's will for our lives. I was overwhelmed by the author's ability to describe, in easy to comprehend language, the stages of life, and where each individual should be spiritually, emotionally, and physically. I know if this book was provided to me in my early teenage years, the road I chose to take in life would be different and more fulfilling, because I would be following God's will for my life and not my will.

Summary: Not Just Theory
Review: Even before I read Rauniker's book, I had chosen Biblical courtship for my approach to romance. However, all I had was theory. After reading CHOOSING GOD'S BEST, theory took on practical application. It's not easy, but proving very much worth it!

Summary: A WONDERFUL BOOK! READ IT AND YOU WILL NEVER BE THE SAME
Review: For all those Christian singles out there who are struggling with waiting on God for "The One," this book offers much needed encouragement, wisdom, and practical advice, all aimed toward keeping one's focus on God and honoring Him in the process of considering marriage. Reading this book, I realized that instead of focusing on what I don't have ("a relationship"), I ought to be focusing on *becoming* a godly woman who will be a better spouse to whomever I will marry in the future. I found Raunikar's advice on opposite gender friendships particularly helpful. In this do-what-you-want world it is hard to believe that there could actually be "too" much closeness between a guy and a girl who don't plan on marrying each other. The heartbreak is very real and the effects devastating, because even though interactions are not "romantic", there can be "counterfeit emotional oneness" built (as Raunikar calls it) that can be permanently damaging in the long run. I am encouraged to set boundaries in my opposite gender friendships to keep them from progressing to a dangerous level. I have learned my lesson the hard way, but this book gives me hope for the godly marriage God has planned for me in the future. I am inspired to wait, to pursue Jesus with my whole heart, and then when the right time comes, to ditch the world's system of dating and pursue a Biblical courtship that will honor God. READ THIS BOOK: what makes Raunikar's books so outstanding in comparison to a lot of other books on Christian "dating" that I have read: Joshua Harris' 'I Kissed Dating Goodbye', Elisabeth Elliott's books, Michelle McKinney-Hammond's books... this book provides EXPLICIT DESCRIPTION AND GUIDANCE about the whole courtship process. What was stated in vague terms in other books is explained so clearly here. So much of it makes sense: wait to express physical intimacy, seek accountability, limit the amount of time you spend together... all of these guidelines are for the sole purpose of helping one guard his/her heart. I have also realized how damaging focusing on relationships can be in one's walk with God; it breeds discontent and self-pity. God has so much more for us than that! I am *greatly* encouraged that God has the best for all of us. Read this book, commit your heart to God, and be encouraged! There is a better way than the emotional heartache and trauma caused by exclusive dating relationships and too intimate "friendships." I would recommend this book to ANY CHRISTIAN SINGLE WHO IS SEEKING GOD'S WILL. I am going to buy copies for my single friends who struggle with relationships and waiting on God. Take heart and know that God has the best for you!

Summary: Wish I Had Read This Book When I Was Dating.
Review: I am buying this book for my 22 year old, unmarried daughter. I truly wish that I had read this book when I was in the dating process. I have read this book prior to giving it to my daughter so that I could assess the contents. Dr. Raunikar's comments that the dating process is by nature designed for breaking-up and resultant deep pain is so true and insightful, and that this pattern of breaking-up lays the conceptual groundwork for this happening in marriage. The safe environment that is provided for the girl/woman by most of the contact occurring in the parent's or spritual accountability couple's home, at least in the first portions of the courting process, is so much better than the woman being alone in a car or other enviornment where she is at the whim of the man. Courting sounds like such an out-of-date concept, but Dr. Raunikar shows how it has been tested by time and provides the best answer for male-female relationships and eventually discovering the one that God has designed for you.
