Rating: Summary: Do your homework Review: Although not the forum for this, I just had to comment on the reviewer "...not condemming, just voicing God's word.". Ever hear of the Apocryphal Councils? They have been the ones deciding through the ages what is "acceptable" for you to ingest as far as Christianity is concerned. Who knows how many truthful considerations, teachings, and writings they have discarded as heresy in order to appease their agenda of the time. So with respect to your quote, do your homework first before condeming history to the closed-minded viewpoint of the institution that has become the Catholic Church. We should uncover all that is possible as it will only increase our potential for learning the whole truth, and....isn't that what this is about?

Rating: Summary: No Title Review: I just want to review another persons review... there was a lady who said that since the Catholic Church says that the gospel is false doctrine... how do they know? They are people of the church but they do not know if he wrote it or not... so what I am trying to say is don't make biased assumptions just because someone says that it may be false. I believe that it is true...

Rating: Summary: Excellent review & scholarly Review: I know that Routledge has put out some amazing books and it quite suprized me that they would be interesting in publishing a book concerning the gospel of thomas. But nevertheless, this is a very scholarly book. The author does not delve himself into mindless speculation, but rather the hard facts. Those that have read Elaine Pagels' 'Beyond Belief' should rather focus their attention on this book if they wish to read a scholarly book at its finest. Definately worth the price.
Rating: Summary: Addition of the Gospel of St. Thomas to the Bible Review: I read a review that a guy had wrote & talked about adding this gospel to the Bible. In the process of learning about the gospel of St. Thomas, I became very confused. I would just like to quote Rev. 22:18-19:"For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book(the Bible): If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plaugues that are written in this book; and if any man takes away,God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." I am not condemming, just voicing God's word.
Rating: Summary: Do your homework Review: I thought that I would write a true review of this book for readers interested The Gospel of Thomas from a more academic or scholarly perspective. Never does Dr. Valantasis suggest adding the book to the current canon. Rather, he conducts a very thorough and thought provoking exegesis of the text. In addition, he provides an excellent historical basis. Now, the book is subject to criticism from other schools of thought, but I don't think Dr. Valantasis would deny this. He provides an excellent historical de-mythologization of the text. For the curious reader, or the serious scholar, this is an excellent addition to the literature on the Gospel of Thomas.

Rating: Summary: Enlightenment Review: The addition of this book to the Bible would make this world a better place. We Christians would be more like Bhuddists.
Rating: Summary: Canonization Review: The validity of this document lies in the hands of theologians and pastors. If what lies in the pages of "The Gospel of Apostle Thomas" does not line up with the teachings of Christ, which we already have, then it is false doctrine. The Catholic Church has already said that it is false. So that makes me interested. I'm not Catholic.
