Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Changed my life Review: Basically, regardless of the quality of this review. Get this book! I feel totally inadequate to even review this book. It was that good. I am hesitant to really buy books for those who I am discipling. But this book was completely different. I read it, counted the people I wanted to read it, and bought that many: 20. So that is my personal experience with the book. It had a profound impact on my understanding of the truth of why we sin. Kris Lundgaard dedicates his book, "To Nicholas, my son, for victory! He could make no better dedication. This book, based on John Owen's masterpiece entitled THE NATURE, POWER, DECEIT, AND PREVALENCY OF THE REMAINDERS OF INDWELLING SIN IN BELIEVERS, unpacks the truth found in the Scriptures for readers to help them get just that: victory! But victory over what? Satan? Yeah. Sin? yeah. But more specifically, the flesh--something that is overlooked as the source of the sin by many evangelicals today, yet cited by almost all biblical authors as the part of us that hates God and therefore sins. Lundgaard himself claims to have "kidnapped Owen" (p. 14). This is not Lundgaard's wisdom, it is Owen's Bible-inspired wisdom converted into modern language with modern examples for modern readers. It wouldn't even do the book justice for me to summarize it any further. I wouldn't want to ruin it for you either. Just get the book.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This is a great help in your quest for holiness Review: I found this book to be an outstanding review of the problem that all Christians face--the battle with the flesh. While most of us recognize the fact that we continue to have an "enemy within" very few books and or sermons focus on the specifics of that problem. For anyone that desires to grow in Christ I would highly recommend this book.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent Tool for battling sin! Review: If you're a Christian struggling with sin - especially repetitive sin, and can't seem to break the cycle. This book is for you. The book is very easy to read and the applications are very apparent throughout the book. The book is very challenging but you walk away from it with a good idea of how to battle the sin in your life. Probably the best outcome of this book was that I realized that fighting sin is really an all-out war that we need to be ready to fight, with the power of God (and not our own power) spurring us on.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Insightful insepction of the overlooked enemy - our own Sin Review: The christian has three enemies. The world, the devil, and the flesh(our sinful desire). Too often we recieve teaching that completely leaves out our flesh. Such omission brings unrealistic expectations and methods in the struggle to put to death daily the flesh. Kris draws on Owens in an easy to follow literary style. The questions at the end of each chapter make the book suitable for daily or semi-daily devotion. In fact the real impact of the book is in putting the ideas into practice. This requires the work of God in the heart through prayer and scripture. Kris is helpful in leading us to this work of faith in our lives. The book spends much time dealing with the enemy, so it would be of benifit to read quickly through the book in one or two sittings to get a feel for where all of this talk about the flesh is leading in terms of Christ the victor. Otherwise you might find yourslef talking for weeks about sin is this and sin is this and what are we supposed to do about it anyway?... -chip
