Rating: Summary: Is Rick writing his own Bible? Review: As one who claims to represent Christ, Rick has left out the most important part, the Bible. A true prophet will always point to Christ, through the Bible and not to themselves. As much as I liked Rick's writings in the past I'm afraid he's fallen into deception of the worst kind - he believes he's a prophet. John the Baptist was the 'last' prophet, "for all the prophets and the law prophesied until (up to) John." (parentheses mine - Matt. 11:13) Christians must remember that anyone who claims to speak for God will point to the Bible as the 'final authority' - not dreams.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: I recently. had the pleasure of reading Final Quest by Rick Joyner. The book is truly a work of art. I commend Mr. Joyner for letting the reader into his most intimate spiritual life. A friend of mine was awaken by the Lord at 3:00 a.m. in the morning and the sprit of the Lord spoke to her and instructed her to give me the book the next day. Needless to say, I was eager to read it. I cannot tell you how many times during my reading of the book the Lord confirmed so many things to me Mr. Joyner said in that book. Scripture tells us that a true prophet will only confirm what the Holy Spirit has already told you in your spirit. I am a witness to that. There was so many things in that book that spoke directly to my heart. I am, no doubt, a changed person after reading this book. I have learned to look within myself and honestly approach the throne of grace and receive mercy and divine favor in my time of need. I have learned what true worship is -- it is worshipping in spirit and in truth. Well taught in this book! Mr. Joyner's book taught me how to do just that and I praise God for his obedience and this strong word of the Lord that he brought forth. I can't wait to read The Call. Thank you. Mrs. G. Rating: Summary: I found this book disturbing Review: I read "The Final Quest" by Rick Joyner. If found it disturbing. Throught out the book there is not one scripture. During this "vision" Joyner meets Paul in heaven. Paul tells Joyner he had fallen short, didn't do all that he was called to do. He opens up the opportunity for Joyner to pick up where Paul left off, and this includes more "writings". So does this mean that Joyner's books are "extra-biblical revelations"? He presents the book in this light. If the book was held in the light of an allegory, such as the Pilgrim's Progress, I could accept that. Or if his book was held in the light as fiction such as Frank Peretti's books, I could accept that. But this book is held in the light of prophetic revelation from the Spirit of the Lord. In my opinion, this book is blasphmous, and dangerous. I have concerns that Rick Joyner is falling into false prophecy, and possibly the role of a false prophet. I encourage all of you who read this book to hold what this man says to the light of Scripture. It may sound good, it may sound so spiritual, but is it of God?
Rating: Summary: Truth Coming Alive Review: My wife and I serve as foreign missionaries in capacities of discipleship and are often reading Christian books for both ourselves and for those we're trying to minister to. I usually have a stack of books waiting for me to read everytime I finish one more. The Final Quest is one of only a very few books I've read for a second time. I even read it for a third time and plan to read it for a fourth. This book is a description of a personal prophetic experience. Those who would say Joyner is placing emphasis on himself in much of the book are right. Theat's BECAUSE it's a prophetic experience in which God was brining correction into his life. It's to his credit that he opens up and becomes transparent to us as he lets us see sins and faults from his past. Also, it's not meant as a book to establish doctrine. Joyner makes that clear in the intro. He's just trying to acurately report what he experienced. Joyner can't take the credit weather you like or hate the book. He's just stating what he saw and experienced. This book isn't about Joyner being a goo writter, creative or even a good teacher. It's in testimony format. One reporting what he sicerley believes God to have shown him The reason I gave it a high mark, is because it's one of those books that helps you to see things from a diffrent persepective. It gives you a bit of a PARADIGM SHIFT. It helped me to see both the importance of love and humility I give five stars because it ministered to me and it helped me understand many verses that i thought i understood in a fresh and challenging light. I can truely say I'm more challenged and inspired to be a follower of Christ now in both loving devotion and humility. Give the book a read. remeber what it is and what it is not meant to be.
Rating: Summary: What a thought Provoker! Review: The Final Quest is an excellent book about a vision that God gave to Rick Joyner. It is a peek into a world that we really do not know a lot about. This book is filled with fascinating imagery, much like the book of Revelations. This book gives any reader a closer look into what spiritual warfare is. It uses vivid descriptions to paint the picture of his spiritual journey. This book tells how we are warriors in a very real and ongoing spiritual warfare. Our quest is for souls for lives changed and given to Jesus. The biggest thing that reading this book did for me was to awaken me and make me realize that I need to get going, to get motivated and fulfill the great commission to go and tell all the world the good news of Jesus Christ. I have never, before reading this book, thought a whole lot about spiritual warfare and the unseen battle that goes on constantly. After reading this book I see that everything I do or do not do affect this battle. "Live in such a way that those who know you but do not know God will come to know God through you." Since reading this book this scripture is more relevant to me then ever before. Joyner uses very readable plain diction in this book making it not to terrible hard to read. His words paint a picture that I can vividly see in my mind. I believe if you are looking to be critical it is possible to find things to be critical about. He does seem a little prideful, and then puts himself down which I find a little strange but overall I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a deeper relationship with God. It is very thought provoking and I know it has helped my spiritual walk with God.
Rating: Summary: The Final Quest Review: This book is for those who are serious in understanding the strategy of the enemy and, more importantly, understanding God's ways. This is a book I will read several times to glean as much from it as possible. God's view of what is important is seriously different from our human belief of what He considers important. This book is another in a very small number of current, exceedingly life-changing books available to Christians with a hunger to know more about the Lord.
Rating: Summary: A book for everyone, Christian or not Review: I was given this book on loan from a friend of mine who I have found has not even finished it yet. I am ordering copies to give out and also will tell everyone I know about it...Christian or not. The message is true and real and applies for all humans living on this planet.
Rating: Summary: Delusions of grandeur and then some! Review: Dear, faithful Rick Joyner--God's new prophet for this age, setto lead us all to the mountain of God. Or so he says. ... His self-conscious use of self-deprecation I find screamingly funny, particularly when contrasted with the inflated view of himself he puts forth in this pathetic volume. For instance, he's got St. Paul practically kow-towing to him. A thinly disguised C. S. Lewis figure bows to the works that Joyner will supposedly accomplish that will be so much greater than anything Prof. Lewis accomplished. Yea, right. But most pathetic of all is Joyner's underhanded attempt to put this "vision" on the same par as those in the Bible. Give me a break! One has only to give Daniel, Isaiah and Revelation a quick skim to realize that in all of these genuine visions, God--not the prophet himself--is the central figure. In none of them does the prophet take the opportunity for self-aggrandizement. In Joyner's "vision", HE is the main focus, despite his transparently false groveling. If I could give this book a MINUS 5, I would. It deserves NO STARS.
Rating: Summary: Do read this book. Review: I read this book first a year age and it opened my eyes to many spiritual realities. I have read the other reviews and have two things to say: 1. The Bible tells us not to slander anyone. 2. Whilst the Bible tells us to test the spirits it also tells us not to judge prophesy. Yes some of the negative reports have interesting points, for example - how to apply what they reveal, but on the whole I don't agree with them. The Bible is there to teach and guide us, no other document need do that. What this book does is open your eyes to what is really going on. Finally, a book which causes this much debate has got to be worth a look at. Remember, you can always put it down if you don't agree.
