Rating: Summary: Reflections on Reflections for Ragamuffins Review: I have found some of the most profound thoughts about God and Jesus in this book. I had never given much thought to God not being able to be angry with us because God is love. That is until I read the very brief meditation in this book. The author wrote what I have felt for quite some time that Christians can easily be brothers and sisters but have a difficult time being sons and daughters. This is a great daily meditation book.

Rating: Summary: Life-altering Review: Let me start by saying this: I hate 99% of all the devotionals that have been or probably ever will be published. Christianity has been beset by a plague of surface-level, overly sentimental, faux spirituality. That is not the case here. The stuff written in these pages is truth-the truth of Jesus Christ. The stuff written here flows with love and grace. The selections used in this book deal with what Christianity looks, feels, and smells like where the rubber of Christianity meets the road of life. Brennan Manning clearly expresses what it means to surrender your life to Jesus; and what it is like to live with him. No cost is too great for obtaining a copy of this book. It is truly "bread for the journey." Buy it and then read it. It will change your life (and your eternity.)
Rating: Summary: Excellent read for those tired of "fakey" spirituality. Review: Manning forcefully shouts the wake up call for Christians to stop playing church and to start incarnating the ever present reality of Christ in the sloppy glory of daily living.
Rating: Summary: Just Great Review: The author, as a priest could not find God in church dogma. Having found God he encourages Christians to stop playing church and find God personally. I would highly recommend the book An Encounter With A Prophet to anyone who takes Manning seriously.
Rating: Summary: A must own devotional book for "Ragamuffins"! Review: There is not enough time nor enough words to express the beauty, the wonder, the sweetness and the safety that Brennan Manning's reflections bring to the weary in heart. A shepherd like the great shepherd, this book leads us beside still waters and restores our souls without compromising either our intellects or our hearts. A meeting place for Body, Soul and Spirit with all the Richness of Brennan's experiences as an ex Franciscan priest, a recovering alcoholic and a theologian. A man who has lived, who has failed and who has survived to tell us about it. Excellent and Comforting.
