Review: I'm not married yet, but soon will be and I picked up this book and was captured by it from the very start. It really does help you find your mates love language to create a better atmosphere of love in a different more intimate way with your mate than you have ever thought. Not just a "how-to" book, but a real marriage enhancer. Definitely recommended for couples who are engaged to get a head start on your future mates love language.

Review: This is a great book, both for evaluating how to improve your relationship with others (especially your spouse) and for improving your understanding of your own emotional needs and how to fulfill them in a healthy way. We have bought a lot of friends copies of this book!

Summary: Learn from your past, improve your present and future.
Review: This book was recommended to me and my boyfriend by his mother, as he and I had both just come out of marriages ended by the other partner. We took turns reading the book aloud to eachother, and we could not believe the interesting discussions which resulted! We learned about ourselves, eachother and our past relationships, including what we did right and what we did wrong. It was too late to change the past, but it made our new relationship much stronger almost overnight! As Amazon can attest, I have ordered numerous copies and have given them to friends who need them -- who have in turn given or recommended the book to other friends. You would not BELIEVE the responses which have come back to me, especially saying they only wish they had known about this book sooner! Try it, you'll like it! No, you'll LOVE it!

Review: This book was presented to me a few years ago and it transformed my relationship with my wife. If I only knew what her love language was before, we would have not been emptying each other tanks without knowing. My father saw the book on my table yesterday morning and finished it last night, he could not put the book down. He says this book makes perfect sense and he sees where he has been sending the wrong love language to my mother. He is recommended The Five Love Languages to all his friends at church.

Summary: Excellant Workshop or Retreat Source
Review: I am the Director of Counseling at a Church near Charlotte, NC. and have been using this material frequently in counseling and in pre-marital instruction. Presently I am using this material as the foundation for a Marriage Worshop planned for April 1999. I urge other counselors and pastors to look into using these materials for similar workshops. The viewer's guide has a section dedicated to setting up a workshop. Praise God and thanks to Gary for this wonderful work.

Review: I highly recommend this book to anyone, not just couples. It has helped me understand my friends and my friends to understand me. I have learned to interpret other languages so that I can see when my loved ones are telling me they love me, even when it's not my language. My parent's marriage was reformed by this book. My dad was speaking Greek and my mother was speaking Chinese. After reading this book, they started talking in the others language and it is wonderful to watch them love each other. I give this book to all my friends as wedding gifts now. Thanks Gary.

Summary: If only I had learned this sooner . . .
Review: Outstanding explanation of what we all should but don't know about love relationships. I was amazed at how accurately the book expressed and explained my own life experiences. During troubled times in my marriage I felt that no matter how hard I tried to make my wife happy, I felt that she was less than pleased by my attempts. I realize now that I was not expressing my love for her in a manner that made her feel loved - her "primary language" - but instead in the language which made me feel loved. We both realized but couldn't explain why we tended to give gifts to each other that were meaningful to the giver but not as meaningful to the recipient. The lack of understanding each other's language of love ultimately created years of needless and unintended hurt feelings and emotional separation. I would recommend this book to anyone in or looking for a valued relationship. Share it with your children so they might avoid the mistakes of their ignorant parents. Another life lesson that must be learned. Great book.
