Summary: Misguided Anti-Catholicism
Review: It actually earned negative 5 stars, but the system won't let me! To be honest, this book has so many inaccuracies, you have to wonder what the agenda was. If you want REAL CATHOLICISM, read anything by Scott Hahn or Karl Keating. You wouldn't go to a proctologist for a brain tumor, would you? Then dont't read this junk by an obvious anti-catholic bigot.

Summary: Taken Out of Context + Anti-Catholic at Heart = LIES
Review: Mr. Hunt's book about the Catholic Church is "poorly researched" and written with "bad taste" are the ONLY good criticisms I could give his book. I don't know where he learned to use references, but when used them, he either takes the excerpt OUT OF CONTEXT and distorts the originial author's meanings -OR- he uses excerpts from sources which DOESN'T EVEN EXIST! Please, Mr. Hunt...do more research before writing a book about something or someone you OBVIOUSLY don't understand. For those of you who truly desire to know what the Catholic Church is all about, I recommend Karl Keating's book, "Catholicism and Fundamentalism : The Attack on Romanism by Bible Christians." If you're going to disagree with the Catholic Church, at least know what it TRULY teaches and not what an anti-Catholic THINKS it teaches. God bless.

Summary: 10 stars.
Review: To be sure, Roman Catholics will malign the book and its author. The seamy side of Catholicism is seldom open to debate. In discussing the ascension of Pope Benedict IX to the throne of St. Peter, Mr. Hunt writes: "Imagine an 11 year old solemnly pronouncing forgiveness of sins as Christ's one true representative on earth!" This is only the tip of the iceberg. It gets much worse. Bravo, Mr. Hunt, for your courage to expose the duplicity that is Roman Catholicism.

Summary: People do not read the bible anymore
Review: Excellent book! Dave Hunt is an excellent author that researches and documents all of the false teachings of the Catholic Church. The book leads people to read the bible and to plainly show that you can not rely on the Church to get you to heaven. Only through Jesus!

Summary: An excellent book despite the inevitable attacks against it
Review: This is a well written and well researched book. However, a book of this nature will naturally attract vehement and vitriolic attacks against it by catholic apologists. I noted all of the reviews here that attacked this book and these were all very emotional (and understandable from a Catholic point of view), but I see no one refuting his sources. In fact, Mr Hunt takes pains to use Catholic historians (such as de Rosa, Keating, Kung, etc) as a vast majority of his sources.

All of the historical information presented in this book are a matter of plain public record and his footnotes and references are exhaustive. For example, the Crusades and the inquisition happened. Thousands of books have been written on this subject. We're still living with this legacy in many parts of this world. It may no longer be politically correct to talk about it, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I'm thankful to Mr Hunt that he had the courage to write a book that he knew would bring a plethora of attacks on himself. I'm also thankful that he was diligent enough with his references so that his readers could verify his information on their own.

'Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?' (Galatians 4:16)

Summary: How can an honest person believe this junk, please...
Review: ...consult a historian quickly. Not only that, but how can someone publish such lies. Even the Protestants I run into are embarrassed to see this book in their stores.

"To be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant." - (Anti-Catholic Anglican Priest John Henry Neumann after converting to Catholicism.)

Please, anyone out there, study with an honest mind. Read both sides of the argument. You can contact me @ timobrien78@hotmail.com and I can give you recommendations of books that easily refute this garbage.

Yours in Christ,

Tim O'Brien

Summary: Excellent, thumbs up!
Review: An exhaustive look at the history of the catholic church and her distortion of true Christianity. The author does it ellegantly supporting it with documentation that proves his case. This is a book for Christian apologists, for catholics and non-christians alike. To the catholic reader, a rebuttal of the book is inevitable, because the truths presented here are rather crude but truths nonetheless. Excellent book.

Summary: Good book for those who enjoy learning history from fiction.
Review: This book is very sad. If you want to read a book that any modern biblical scholar, Catholic or Protestant, would laugh at; go ahead and waste your money. This is just proof that uneducated anti-Catholics can still get their books published.

Summary: This Book Gets Close!
Review: I begin reading books of this nature because an author named Canyon Adams, who wrote 666 The Beast Revealed, first turned me on to how Christianity is the woman who rides the beast. After that book, I bought a couple dozen more, including this one. This author is very close, except for the fact that he points out how Catholicism only is the woman. Catholicism is PART of that woman, but Christianity, as other authors have pointed out, is the WHOLE woman. Good job, though. Thoughtful. Somewhat decently written. A bit weak in areas. But closer to the truth than some others I've read.

Summary: Can we give negative stars?
Review: This book should be called " 'Hunting' for the Gullible." Those who believe the rot in this book need a good dose of history to restore their minds to correct thinking. It is not helpful in the least toward creating understanding of Church teachings, but helps buttress what one man wishes the Church taught so that he could feel justified in hating the Catholic Church. Bishop Fulton Sheen once said that perhaps a 100 people hate the Catholic Church for what it teaches, but millions hate it for what they THINK it teaches. Hunt is a case in point. Those who want to read an alternative to Hunt's view of Revelations might consider reading Scott Hahn's new book "Heaven on Earth" to get an altogether Biblical view of it without the hate mongering and distortions Hunt presents here.
