Summary: Crucial issue!
Review: Islam is hardly an academic issue in today's global village. It's in your backyard and you need to know about it! Geisler presents a Christian perspective. Reviews from other muslims completely discount this book and accuse it of fomenting hatred. I'm not sure, however, that a passionate adherent is any more objective than an 'infidel' like Geisler. Besides, if Islam only attacked through written word it would not be called 'The Religion of the Sword.' The Sword of Islam in Sudan in this decade alone has already slaughtered 2 million animists and Christians. This is not just a fringe group going on jihayd. Freedom of religion in orthodox Middle East countries is non-existent. I know muslim missionaries from Saudi Arabia to Nigeria that became Christians. They were lured back home and quickly executed. This past October, the religious police (Mutawa'een) in Saudi Arabia arrested another 40 expatriate Christians for meeting in their own homes. And it's spreading. An Islamic group in England tried to push legislature that would make it a crime to slander the prophet Mohammed. The best means to counter the intolerance of Islam is through public education. Geisler offers a good start.

Summary: exotericism vs. esotericism
Review: OK, I was forced by the "machine" to click on some stars, but I have not read this book, so it's not fair to write a review for it (it sounds very interesting though), but let me suggest that readers interested in this debate also read something deeper than mere religious apologetics, and get Frithjof Schuon's "Understanding Islam" or his "Christianity/Islam - Essays on Esoteric Ecumenicism". Another fine book written by a Westerner who truly understands Islam is the concise "Sufism", by William Stoddart. Religion - on its own level - has every right to oppose other religions (on pains of losing its own identity and efficacy) or even defend itself against them if need be, so if one is looking for harmony and peace between peoples one must needs procure the deeper principles by which every exotericism [outward religious form] may be transcended. Try the suggested reading - you'll feel it is most rewarding.

Summary: Pretty good..
Review: What else to expect from Geisler? He always does great work, though I'm not familiar with the other fellows, their contributions were top flight. This is not a hateful book by any means,no matter what the naysayers might have said,I've never known Norman to engage in that sort of writing anyway. He knows what he's talking about,he doesn't NEED to resort to name calling and slander. And if these muslims think this is a hateful book, they should see some of the wild eyed hatred that *some*(not all)Skeptics point at christianity. The muslims would never be able handle that sort of polemic! If you're interested in following up on this sort of thing, there's a website called "answering-islam" that you can look up on yahoo, they welcome muslims writing in.

Summary: Confirmation that this book is excellent..
Review: I want also to say that if the book succeeds in infuriating Moslems to the point that they have to resort to threats and insults, instead of counterarguments, then it is a concrete confirmation that the argumentation of the book is sound, and then can no not better that hate (and wish the death of) the authors whose arguments they cannot refute. Their reaction to the book actually only strengthen the case of the book, by showing how dangerous and violent they are. BTW I am not Christian (but atheist), but recommend this book to all. I would not recommend giving this book to a Moslem however, unless one is not afraid for his own life. It is not without reason that any critic on Islam is strictly punished by Death penalty in most Muslim countries.

Summary: Absolutely Excellent book: BUY IT!!!!!
Review: I am an atheist interested in many subjects, in particular religion. Although I do not like the Christian apologetics tone of this book, I must admit that it is absolutely excellent. The argumentation is always valid, and the support for the premises very well established. Muslims have to resort to writing many reviews with ad hominem attacks such as "hate", etc (another sign of their dangerous intolerance--what am I glad they have not taken the power yet!)--but there is not one shred of hate in this book, only Christian love. This is certainly the best book around about the Islamic religion, I think everyone should have its own copy of Geisler's book and study it, as this religion is growing and its extreme intolerance is, IMO, the major threat for what remains of civilization and freedom in the world.

Besides, that Christians can write such an excellent book makes me more open for Christianity. I will read more books by the author (Geisler). Let see if he will succeed in converting me...

Summary: hate crusade
Review: I feel that christians and muslims will agree that this is a very negative view of Islam, many twisted and distorted claims are made and I feel that the writer has some sort of secret vendetta against muslims... Muslims and christians are both "people of the book" and should live peacefully and love each other, not creat hate crusades against each other. The muslims and christians are all children of abraham... I say don't waste your money on such propaganda trash.

Summary: another book clouding islam with bigotry against islam
Review: The author clearly is motivated to spread hate against Ilam. The west has had its own version of Islam for last 1500 years. As they say in Islam, that non-believers have unpenetrable shells around their mind, so they cannot see the truth. Their perception of Islam is driven by the hate of Islam taught by their parents, teachers or friends.

Summary: A book that hurts rather than helps.
Review: As a Christian, I find that this book which readily criticises the Qur'an and Islam to hurt the delicate ties between Christians and Muslims. In my opinion, Islam is not the true religion but there is no need to attack the very basis of these people's faith. It is the same way when Muslims (such as the reader from Egypt) attack the Bible. The Bible does not state that the earth is flat but, in fact, round (Isaiah 40:22), that it "hangs upon nothing (Job 26:7) and other interesting facts. But that does not prove the Bible to be correct, nor does it disprove it if there are discrepencies. Man may have easily tampered with it, and, I trust, with the Qur'an as well. The truth is, neither book or faith can be shaken or brought down by something like this. Do not use this book to convert Muslims because it probably won't work. Use it to answer those who criticise the Bible for being factually incorrect.

Summary: Great Job, Author!
Review: Yet another writer satifies the appetite of masses of Christians for attacking Islam. I'm not surprised: Islam is by far the fastest growing religion in the world, and that should scare many people. Anyway, books like that make those who believe in the Bible's flat earth and other scientific errors, discrepancies in numbers and facts, and stories that sound more like adult (porn) books feel better about themselves. Perhaps the author and those who applaud him should tell us how is it that the Quran accurately stated so many scientific facts (www.it-is-truth.org) that were not known till recently while the Bible is practically the Universal Guide for Scientific Errors? And how is it that Christianity is based on the fact that we are being punished for something that somebody else did thousands of years ago, and that to be saved u have to believe that God had to sacrifice his 'son' (is God incapable of just forgiving us according to Christian faith?). I can keep going forever, but anyway I really dont care about those who choose to believe lies and refuse, or infact attack the Truth. Guess it is your choice.

Summary: Superbly objective treatment of an infinitely complex issue.
Review: It is terribly difficult to locate objective treatment of the subject matter of Islam! The Christian writers frequently unwittingly cloud some of the realities because of their own subjective interests and their lack of information. And, of course, the Muslim writings are infinitely skewed and not at all credible.

But Geisler and Saleeb have done here a masterfully insightful work which cuts right to the core of the subject, without bias toward either side.

Answering Islam is definitely an "I-couldn't-put-it-down-type" book; excitingly written, logically evolved, and totally fair to all sides of the issue.

I only wish I had written it!

Sincerely, Dr. W. Eugene Neill
