Rating: Summary: The power of love... Review: This book explains everything you couldn't understand when you read the bible. I wish I could find the words to explain what a very, very special book this is, it changed my life. Christ IS the power of love and peace and everything we so desperately need in this world today.
Rating: Summary: The ULTIMATE spiritual guidance tool Review: This book happens to be my all time favorite. You will certainly find no other that will speak to your very soul...the wisdom that is within its pages. Its truth will resonate throughout your entire being and you will not walk away from it unchanged.
Rating: Summary: The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ Review: This book has transformed my life beyond my expectations. I hope more people will be able to read this book especially those who have left any mainstream religious order. This book has also opened my life to understand myself being closer to God and inrelationship to Jesus the Christ and the Love he has always advocated for us to follow.
Rating: Summary: Levi's book is a landmark for these times Review: This book is a wonderful depiction of Jesus the Christ. If you want the details that Levi doesn't cover, check out Patton's "The Autobiography of Jesus of Nazareth and the Missing Years". At last some writers have committed to proint what many of us have suspected for so long - that the Man was more substantial than the two dimensional Icon classical Christianity has so radically modified.
Rating: Summary: Jesus' Life Story - Our Shining Example Review: This complete, unedited story of the life of Jesus is our shining example - our beacon-light in the night. As an exceptionally wise man (and spiritually advanced soul), Jesus attained Full Human Maturity, and He achieved Immortality. Furthermore, Jesus reveals (in this amazing book) that all of us can do the same, because we can gaze upon Him (and Miriam, His partner) simply by reading their story, and we can follow them to our destiny - full human maturity and immortality!
Jesus explains that, as eternal spirit-beings (Children of God), we all are given as many incarnations as required (and we must always do our best). Immortality is everyone's destiny. Thus, Peter spoke a profound Truth when he said to Jesus, "Lord, we have no place else to go."
This precious life-story of Jesus (and Miriam) truly is our beacon light in the night, drawing each of us toward our distant destination. God, our Father, waits for us. He has all the time in the world.
Rating: Summary: Treat Yourself to the Book God intended for us to read Review: What I know to be true is this much, the modern versions of the new testament like King James is full of information added by the many transcribers from years past. Then there is a lot of Jesus' life left out to also suit the whole puritain way of thought. Those versions are quite hard to read as well. They suit the whole ritualistic way of spiritual life. Jesus himself said to beware of men in fancy garb who think that by performing rituals that they are holy. I've read the reviews that are disgusted with this book. Those people are holding onto what has been engrained in them. They claim that there is no proof that this is the real words of christ. Have an open mind and I promise you will not be dissappointed. Once you have read it, your own heart will tell you whose version is truth. You don't need any proof. Christ himself said that those who believe without seeing proof are thrice blessed. Don't let someone else make up your mind for you about what's right and what's wrong. I pray you to at least give this book a chance. If you don't, you could be missing out on what just might be the most profound and greatest book you have ever read. Give yourself a chance to decide what version you believe is real.

Rating: Summary: A Reminder of the Possible Review: When I encounter a Christian who is even slightly curious about a different view of Jesus I ask them to read this book. In the work many non-traditional understandings of the life of Jesus are entertained. The missing years of the Bible are shown to be threats to past and current understandings and appreciations of his life. Only little snippets of his process are revealed in the Bible. Most if not all of the writers of the current New Testament not only were not around but like his disciples didn't have a clue to the message. His message was of wholeness. Completeness unparalleled. One clue that slipped by is, "to Love your enemies as yourself". This book exposes the reader to who Jesus really was/could be and not who others think he is and should be. For those that wonder about Jesus and how he fits or does not fit in with the Christian idea I invite your consideration. With Love, Michael
Rating: Summary: Religious Fiction-but GOOD religious fiction Review: While historically speaking, this book is not a literal or accurate document of the Life of Jesus, it makes for a very good read and contains a lot of truth within it's story (which, literally and historically speaking, could also be said about the Bible itself). Lines such as "When men bcome afraid of God and take him for a foe, they dress up other men in fancy garb and call them priests." (28:20), "You cannot buy the knowledge of the Lord with gold or precious gifts" (29:13), "If one is filled with love, he does nort need commandments of any kind." (17:17), "When man sees God as one with him, as Father-God, he needs no middle man, no priest to intercede." (28:22) make it clear why this book is so controversial-they reveal much of the ministry as the con job that (sadly) much (but not all)of it is, and the spread of this kind of thinking would put a lot of people out of work! This is to be read by intelligent people with open minds only.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful philosophy, yet akashic records claim dubious Review: Why? Check out the previous reviewer:
"Beautiful philosophy, but its a fabrication,} March 9, 2002 by
Reviewer: "optimystic6" of Corvallis, OR USA. When a book glaring historical discrepencies it doesn't matter how touchy/feely it is. If it really were akashic-records based, quite literally there should be absolutely no such errors.
Let's face it people, anyone can make the "akashic records" claim. It's easy to do and difficult to disprove.
The aforementioned reviewer clearly reveals the historical errors of this book so that you can prove it for yourself. In the spirit of optimystic's scholarly review, I recommend the following books instead of "The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ" if alternative Christianity and the universality of all religions in general appeals to you:
1) "Beyond Belief" and "Gnostic Gospels" both by Elaine Pagels. Well researched, scholarly and lucid it is the perfect introduction to early Christiantiy, Gnosticism, orthodoxy and why the two didn't see eye to eye. The author gently guides you through the labyrinth of information, respectfully, clearly presenting both sides of the issue and respectfully empowering you to form your own conclusions.
2) "Mystical Life of Jesus" and "Secret Doctrines of Jesus" are both by H. Spencer Lewis, former Imperator of the AMORC Rosicrucians. These two books are utterly unique for the following reason:
Written in 1929, and based on their Amorc secret archives, Lewis wrote in great detail of the mystical Essenes, the Nazarenes and their relationships to Jesus *SIXTEEN* years before the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered that first introduced the Essenes to the world!
Even as well read as I am, I cannot think of *any* new age or religious author who can make a similar claim. Just check the publication dates in the front of the book to verify (a child could do it) for yourself. Even more telling, subsequent analyses of the Dead Sea Scrolls and Nag Hammadi texts has corroborated many of Lewis' assertions about Jesus, the Essenes, Nazarenes and the Holy Land of that time.
And finally for just a fun speculation, check out "Holy Blood Holy Grail." While their ulimate hypothesis is higly speculative and explosively controversial to some, many of their other conclusions about Jesus, the resurrection, crucifixion, the Nazarenes, Nazarites, Gnostics and Zealots are not completely unwarranted and ring true.
If this has aroused your curiosity then check out my reader's guide for more startling info. on alternative Christianity.
