Summary: The character of Hadassah
Review: The storyline was exciting. The characters were great. I used to read "love stories", but not any longer since this series. The heroine is a homely (not like your "love story beauties"), teenager, a slave, growing up in Rome. I have found Hadassah the most beautiful person. I would love to know a person like her. Her total faith helps mine grow stronger. If I were not already a Christian, I would run, not walk to get Baptized!!

Summary: Fantastic!
Review: I've read a great deal of Christian fiction, and it seems sometimes that almost all of it is about either American pioneer days or WWII. Seeing a book set in ancient Rome caught my interest, and I bought a copy as a Christmas gift for my stepmother (we share books quite frequently). I later ended up reading it when I was living in France for a year; everyone I know who's read it shudders sympathetically when they learn that I had to wait several months to read the sequel!

That's to give you an idea of how wonderfully gripping this book is. I have yet to meet someone who didn't like it, and all but one of the people that I've discussed it with (including men and women) feel that this series is one of the best that they've ever read.

It did have a few minor weaknesses (the key being that Rome did seem an awful lot like a Conservative view of the US; the anthropology student in me wonders if our culture was overly projected onto theirs). However, I loved the characters, and especially Hadassah. She seemed human and real, yet in many ways like a role model for what Christians can strive to be like. I would definitely recommend this book.

Summary: An incredible glimpse into history
Review: Francine Rivers is one of the most gifted authors I've ever read, and her MARK OF THE LION series is nothing short of astounding. From the first page of the first volume, A VOICE IN THE WIND, I felt as though I were literally disappearing into the words. It was an extraordinary experience, and one I would recommend to all readers! It is apparent that Ms. Rivers painstakingly researched this novel, as well as having taken great care to develop the characters until it seems that they are living and breathing. If you're a believer, I feel that this book will strengthen your faith, and if you're not a believer, you may very well be by the last page.

Summary: A real pick me up....
Review: Not only the most uplifting and encouraging first of a series, Francine Rivers incorporates the past to minister to readers in the present. Is history your cup of tea? this book is for you. Blended with a dash of intrigue and romance, A voice in the wind is a novel spiced with twists, turns, and an uncanny soul-refreshing plot that will thrill you to the tips of your toes.

Summary: Extremely uplifting and touching
Review: I just returned from a trip to Ephesus when I was given this book by a friend. It was truly amazing and consistent with the history that I learned while in Greece and Turkey. To see how Jewish people and Christians faced their religion as well as their lives was very touching. There are too many of us - including myself - that would go with the flow instead of facing the many obstacles that we encounter each day. Faith is stronger.

Summary: One of the best books I have read!
Review: Francine Rivers A Voice in the Wind, An Echo in the Darkness and As Sure as the Dawn (The Mark of the Lion series) are the best books I have read next to the Bible. Since I read my first book by Francine River (Redeeming Love) about half a year ago I have read all her books that I could get my hands on, and I have lent them to my friends. We all agree that this serie is her best. If you start to read this one make sure you have number two ready! I am looking forward to her next book that should be released in August.

Summary: Completely Amazing...
Review: I have read literally 100's of Christian historical fiction books. Many have been excellent; and many have changed my life. As Sure As The Dawn is excellent and has definitely changed my life. It has also done something no other book has ever done: it made me cry. This book is an absolute must-read. It is FAR outstanding in the world of Christian fiction.

Review: This book is great!!!! My older sister ordered them and then when I heard about them I just had to read them!!!! They're the best books I've ever read and I hope there are more like them!!! Francine Rivers completely rocks this world!!! It's so cool how Hadassah goes through things and everything!!! I love her trials and how she stays with God, it's something I hope I'd be able to do in the same situation. It's cool!!!

Summary: My Favorite Book of All-Time!!!!
Review: I can't even remember the first time I read this book, but I know that no other book that I have ever read since has touched me as much as this one did. It moved me to tears and laughter and even to changing my own life. I wore out my first copy so much so that the pages were falling out, but though I bought a new one I have still kept that first because it will always hold a place in my life and heart. Francine Rivers truly has a God-given gift for writing. I enthusiastically recommend this book to anyone. It has been and always will be my favorite book.

Summary: Finally, a Christian author who does not meet my expectation
Review: I was skeptical to even try this book. A friend recommended it. I am not a big historical fiction fan anyway and I had not read a christian novel in a long time b/c the characters never seemed to be real. I have finally found an author who has made me want to go out and buy all of her books for our church library!
