Rating: Summary: A most excellent study tool Review: Rev. Dake was a very conservative Bible Scholar that was very literal in his treatment of everything the Bible has to say. He says in the introduction:"THE RULE OBSERVED IS: Take the Bible literally wherein it is at all possible; if symbolic, figurative, or typical language is used, then look for the literal truth it intends to convey." .. and he does exactly that.Although he winds up teaching a great many things a Calvinist or non-Pentecostal would disagree with, he does attempt to prove every assertion with scripture. I think the late Reverend was right on in most respects, but like every other study tool it must be used with one's critical faculties alert and every doctrine studied from every angle possible, and of course, prayed about for guidance. Highly recommended(Get the new Large Print Edition, if possible though, as this print can be straining.)
Rating: Summary: The Best! Review: The absolute best study Bible on the market, with notes by one of the most brilliant theological minds of the twentieth century!
Rating: Summary: The best bible on the market Review: The Dake's Annotated Reference Bible is the best thing that could have happened to the King James Version. You will grow alot in your walk with the Lord Jesus when you read and study from this Bible. It helps you to understand what you may not have understood before.
Rating: Summary: One of the greatest written help outside of the Bible itself Review: The Dake's Bible has helped to enlighten me on so so many things. Its value is worth more than I could ever afford. I thank God for such an enlightening tool to his holy word. It would have to be examined by an individual for them to even begin to know it's worth, value, and greatness.
Rating: Summary: Heresy at it's worst Review: The very fact that so many people would view this work favorably is a testament that there is very little spiritual discernment in the Body of Christ today. I would plead with my brothers and sisters in Christ that a work is NOT orthodox because of how may notes it has or how many people like it. I would just say that any study Bible promoted by the "name it and claim it" group of heretics provides all the evidence one needs to NOT buy it.
Rating: Summary: read the fine print Review: This Bible has an incredible amount of information in it and if you are serious about studying the Bible this is a must. That being said, you need to make sure you are well grounded in scripture because his views may be questionable at times. Furthermore, unless you have great eyesight, BUY THE LARGE PRINT EDITION. Even the large print is only 10 point, the regular print is very very small on the notes and at 40, my eyes couldn't read it without straining. If anyone from DAKE ever reads this, you need to print a tabbed version. Great Bible for the advanced student.
Rating: Summary: Dake Annotated ReferenceBible King James Version Large Print Review: This has got to be one of the very best books that I have ever purchased. It is easy to read and understand. Loaded with extras to make studying the bible a pleasure. This is one of the best gifts that can be given to a person that wants to learn more about the word of God.
Rating: Summary: Abundance of notes. Beautifully presented. Highly usable. Review: This is a terrific study Bible for believers with charismatic leanings. The general direction of the theology here is Dispensational. There are a ton of notes. I have the large print, thumb-indexed edition. If you are seriously going to use this Bible and it's notes you almost must have the thumb-indexed version. The layout and font quality is good. I spend hours just going over the notes. A word of caution. A goodly portion of the notes are intermingled with OPINION and conclusions based upon said opinion. Many of the conclusions are flat out wrong such as the one about the pre-Adamic earth. Many other conclusions are obtuse to say the least, such as the one about the Trinity. Therefore, take much of the notes as "commentary" and NOT as exposition of the Bible text per se. As with all commentaries, validate the author's exposition based upon YOUR study of God's Word and other commentaries. A strong feature of this work are the numerous LISTS. Such as the Names Of God, Doctrines In John, etc. Another great feature is the question and answer sections on some books like Joshua. One can learn quite a bit from these sections. If you are a believer who is charismatically bent this Bible is a treasure. If you, like myself, do not buy into charismatic theology, this work is a good study tool and very useful. All in all I am very glad I have this Study Bible. A fine work.
Rating: Summary: The Best Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: This is the best reference Bible I have ever read. In my opinion, the vaule of the material is priceless. If you are a minister of the gospel, it is impossible for you to read this book without having a new sermon revealed to you each and every time you use it. The reference and footnotes are excellent! Bless Your Spirit Rev. Matt Yarbrough, Jr.
