Summary: A WAKE UP CALL
Review: This book is real. The decisions we make here on earth have enormous consequences and this shows it in vivid detail. This life is only a small part of our eternal lives. We need to steer clear of the evils around us. Dispite our human laws here on earth, we must abide by the law of God. We may fool ourselves of what may be right or popular, but this book clears up all doubts and describes who we should be and not be. Everyone who doubts and questions hell, should read this book. It is real. We are sinners and should seek the Lord Jesus Christ before it's too late.

Summary: A Divine Revelation of Hell
Review: This book portrays a traditional view of the devil presiding over hell tormenting souls. Not only is it repugnant that a righteous God would allow such a thing, Hell is most especially reserved for the devil as his judgement.

I am amazed that this book even found its way to a publisher, let alone that it got printed. It is nonsense from start to finish.

Summary: very negative, but a wake up call
Review: At first, It seems to be just a wonderful revelation. It helps a person to fear what life would be like after death without Jesus. The Words of the book seem to go along with scripture, as she and Jesus quote many scriptures.

However, this woman stresses doctrines which are based on a self-saving teaching. While it seems to promote fear of death, and it actually leans toward fear, but not the fear of God. A Christian, young in the Lord, who reads this might find themselves doubting or fearing to lose their salvation, which can hinder a christians simple trust in Jesus ALONE for salvation.

Also, I found after reading this book that I was fearful and felt condemned that had a difficult time trusting the Lord and so did a friend of mine.

The words of Jesus did hurt and convict, It seemes to be full of holiness, but Jesus said to her at the beginning; I am Jesus your Lord. Why didn't He say the Lord?

The Lord says I would have you wise concerning good, and simple concerning evil.

The bible also says The just shall live by Faith.

Let us live holy lives for without holiness no man can see the Lord. The Holy Spirit is there to stay. If we are took weak to believe, yet He abides faithful, He cannot deny Himself.

Summary: this is not how God is
Review: Mary Baxter claims that Jesus came to her when she was praying and took her on a guided tour of hell. The dialogue is all written in the same style and manner, and it seemed rather made-up or imagined to me.

This woman has a sick and twisted view of God. She makes out God to be a wicked, immoral, monster, who has to make people suffer endlessly for not following his ways. In this book are many descriptions of people who are suffering unimaginably for relatively minor sins. One woman was burning because she didn't convert to christianity when a missionary came to her village. It's very sad. Nearly all the poor people say that they're sorry for their sins and that they love Jesus but it makes no difference.
I think that the whole thing was made up to scare people into being good christians. Either that or it all happened in her head. Either way, I give this book 1 star.

Summary: Too bad this can't be Zero stars!
Review: How many people who have actually read this book got out their bible to see if there is accuracy in her teachings? Probably not many! First of all, Satan and his angels will not be running around tormenting people in hell. That idea is erroneous and has no biblical basis. There are not little imps proding people with sticks. Obviously, some people have watched too many cartoons or stared at too many gargoyles on cathedrals. This book is giving a false protrayal of Hell. For one, Hell is not the same as the Lake of Fire. Secondly, Satan is not currently in Hell. He is running amok here on Earth deceiving people, apparently even the author of this book. Hell is Sheol, the grave. People went to the grave at Death until the resurrection. There is no mention of fire Hell. Hell is not the Lake of Fire which Satan is thrown into along with those whose names are not written in the Book of Life. I can't believe anyone has endorsed this book. It has no scriptural support. It goes against the very nature of Hell as discribed in the Bible. If I were you, I'd seriously consider who inspired this book. God is not the author of confusion. He does not lie.

Summary: It was interesting
Review: I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone but expecially not a new individual trying to understand Gods love for them.. I read the book and her story about going to hell was not scriptural. It was somewhat interesting, like... watching ET the movie. Jesus did not need to send anyone to hell to prove to others that hell is real. The bible clearly points out that hell is real. Plus the only ones to have ever come out of hell (physically or spiritually) were mentioned in Rev 20:7 "When the thousand years are over, satan will be released from the Abyss" and Rev 20:13 "The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done". So from a biblical stand point...what made author Mary K. Baxter special? Like Flava Flav said back in the day "Don't believe the Hype"... Remember if it is not in the Bible, than see if for what it truly is... And in her case, entertainment. The Bible will tell you everything you need to know about your final destination once you leave this earth. Now a book that I would recommend to everyone for edification and understanding based on Scripture is "The Release of the Spirit" by Watchman Nee. If you want to understand how God is moving in your life then this book will shed light on it. Now this is a very powerful book. God Bless!

Summary: What good this book was for me
Review: This is I think the second review I have made on this book. I believe the book has some value, however, it is in error somewhat, at least Biblically. I have read this book several times, plus attended a few services in which Mrs. Baxter preached. What the book did for me was that it shook me at a point in my life, when I was living in sin and away from God. I immediately confessed sin, and started walking with Jesus, that was about six years ago. I must say, however, that I lived in mortal fear from then on, because, even though I wanted to live better, I still had sin in my life and couldn't overcome it. I felt like I would go to hell if I died because I couldn't shake the sins in my life. I thought to myself, "who can qualify to go to heaven?" because it seemed from this book on hell that only a select few "super-Christians" could make it. One day, after really seeking God on the subject, the Holy Spirit spoke one word to me. That word was "righteousness". When I got home and looked it up in the Bible, I realized that we are saved only by believing on the blood of Christ, that faith in God through Jesus Christ is our salvation, not works, as this book on hell suggests. Finally, I was able to see clearly that all I needed was to cling to Christ and not worry about trying to avoid sin so much. It made my life better, because it took my mind off of sin and I started living better knowing in my heart that I am the righteousness of God in Christ (IICor. 5:21). Unfortunately, this book leads the reader to believe that you can only get to heaven through good behavior, not faith in Christ. Certainly, abstaining from sin is important, because sin will mess up your life, period. Sin, however, has no power over the saint (Christian) in Christ and therefore we are free and justified, not of our own works, but through the cross of Christ. I recommend this book to any Christian that is backslidden, but be warned that you need to know who you are in Christ, and build your foundation up of that in your life immediately, or you will eke out a miserable Christian walk that is unfruitful and agonizing. Jesus didn't die a horrible death on the cross and then "need" us to "help" him out with good behavior. When He said "It is finished", He meant the fulfillment of the law, which we could not do.
I certainly do not disbelieve in hell, I havent gone there or experienced death yet. I do think it would have been nice, however, if Mrs. Baxter would have been a lot more explicit about the ones she saw in hell and why they were there. It is assumed by the reader that the people in hell were there because they sinned. All have sinned, and will continue to sin, sorry, if this is all it takes to go to hell, I guess we will all be there, including Mrs. Baxter!!!!
