Rating: Summary: Youth Leader Endorsement Review: I have been in youth ministry for 5 years now. I have been offered many different kinds of teen study Bibles. My youth love this Bible a lot. They tell me it encourages them to read this Bible because they can completely understand it. They love all the commentary and all those special little tidbits directed to teens for today's living. I also praise God that there is a version of the Bible they can understand and feel encouraged about. I used to be critical about the New Living Translation. When I was a kid the New International Version was considered a bad thing. But reading the NIV version has been a help to me. I now think all that matters is that these kids enjoy reading a translation of the Bible they feel comfortable reading. This translation is sound and a blessing to teens everywhere.
Rating: Summary: THE WORD OF GOD IS THE BEST! Review: I love the Word Of God. This Bible is one of the best Bibles I love it. I like the way it was made I give God's Word, and the Bible on a scale from 1 to 10 I give it a 100. This Bible I think is great for teens who are new Christains, and for who were Christains for a long time, and for ones who are not saved. Get Life Application For Students. READ IT!
Rating: Summary: Not the Bible? Review: Many people think that the NLT version is "bad" because it is not the Bible. It is, just not the NKJ version. I have always had a hard time understanding The Word, and this version was wonderful for me. I got it just yesterday, and haven't read much of it, but I love the format and all the notes. I wold have given it 5 stars, but since I have had it for only a very short time, I don't know if I won't like it as much later. I have read, and also used the devotions in The New Believer's Bible. People are dissing that one, too! I think for new believers, children, and teens, the NLT is an easy-to-read bible. If I tried reading the KJV as a new believer, child, or teen I'd freak out. The thee's, thou's, thy's, etc., and the other words that are beginning to be less used, and even less "understandable", would make it hard for me to concentrate on God's love letter to me. I would be too focused on trying to understand the language! Even the NIV is sometimes too hard for me to understand! This is a wonderful version for all those teens out there who want to read the Bible, but can't find the time. If you have a good Bible and are thirsty enough for God's Word, all of a sudden, there will be time! There was time all along, you know, you just didn't WANT to!

Rating: Summary: Good translation, terrible notes Review: The NLT translation is a nice one, particularly for teens. It is thought-for-thought rather than word-for-word, which means it is less accurate to the source texts in some places, but also a lot more lyrical and lively.
But the notes are atrocious. I do not think they should be read unless other points of view are also read. They make erroneous statements about "Christianity" and what "Christians" believe when in fact nearly every note is applicable only to a particular brand of contemporary conservative American evangelical Christianity. And, the "real life" anecdotes are obviously false, many in fact retelling urban myths, in an attempt to vilify non-"Christians".
I would recommend either the NIV Student Bible or the NRSV Access Bible instead. Both have accessible notes, one from a conservative (but still thoughtful) perspective and one from a mainline perspective, and would be far better introductions to the Bible for young people.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Resource Review: This Bible is an excellent resource for working with youth. I use its side bar explanations and stories frequently. No youth leader should be without it!
Rating: Summary: A great map for the Christian journey! Review: This Bible is one of my most cherished treasures. The Life Application Bible for Students is a great source of truthful and reliable help and information. It is the best gift that any person can get or give away. It is priceless and the best self-help book out there! Your money won't be wasted at all.
Rating: Summary: Changing lives Review: This Bible is one of the best ones I have ever seen. The way it is put together allows the reader to become excited about reading God's word. The inserts from other teenagers helps me apply God's word to my life. I used to have a hard time reading the Word daily, but now I am so excited that I can't wait to read the Bible. This Bible is helping me to learn more about God, and how to live the life Christ wants me to.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: This Bible is wonderful! It is easily understood and written in plain language and not Biblical language, ie., thee, thou, ye, etc. It is like reading a story in a regular book. It also has examples of how teens handled encounters and also how to handle future problems that might come up. I would recommend this Bible not only for students, but also for older people too. I've purchased four for my family members.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: This is an excellant bible: they didnt call it "Life Application" for no reason! The graphics which display important verses, the guides for study, and the many helpful indexes in the back of the book are excellant! It also has notes on special verses, "Here's what I did" sections, and articles on "Ultimate Issues" such as jesus and morals! That makes it my number one choice bible for any teen...
