Rating: Summary: Simply Beautiful Review: I just finished reading the book last night and it is beautiful. To read about the move of God so strong and great in these modern days gave me hope that God's presence will fill our Churches if we give him the opportunity by seeking him and not what he can give us.
Rating: Summary: a life changing read ... Review: I'm not sure what drew me near to this book. I read it in 3 days and have to say that it has significantly changed my life, more specifically changed the way I perceive my relationship with God, Church and prayer. If you're serious about having a relationship with God then you must read this book. It opened my eyes to a knew vision that now includes Him. In addition to a "must read" it's also a "must read again" for me. This time though I will have highlighter and sticky notes in hand.
Rating: Summary: On my way to his manifesting presence........... Review: I was expecting this book to just go into ideals and thoughts that are totally opposite of what the book is actually about. I must admit that this book is an eye and spirit opener. When I went into the beginning of this book, God was speaking to me within the pages of the first chapter. I just thank God for using Mr. Tenney to let his people know that we can catch his face.
Rating: Summary: "Chase" seems too much like work Review: One has to crystalize Tenney's main themes clearly to come to the conclusion that one agrees with his points. These themes are often hidden in the hype and one-liners common to the "fried chicken circuit" of the evangelists' beat. But amid these overused cliche's and metaphors there beats the heart of God. It is too easy for those of intellect to get bored with the reading and dismiss the hidden, but poignant, messages this age desparately needs to hear. Tenney also indicts with the same over-simplification that disguises the true import of his message. Reading Tenney has prompted me to read A.W. Tozer again, Tenney's admitted inspiration.
Rating: Summary: Where is Jesus Christ? Review: Their are two very disturbing things regarding Mr. Tenny's "God Chasers": 1) Where is Jesus? He's almost absent in this book. With any discernment it should be fairly obvious that any reference towards getting closer to God should and must be done in the light of attaining a greater knowledge and love for the Son of God, Jesus Christ. Any avenue that negates this is all smoke and mirrors, and worse, False teachings from a false teacher. 2) Does it bother anyone who has read this dribble that God's Word has been reduced to "Moldy pages" or Dusty old love letters", "Old truth". PLease read Psalm 119 in its entirety to see the impact of God's Word in and on our lives yesterday, today and forever. Is this the teachings of yet another false "Movement" like the Prophetic-Apostolic movement creating their own doctines and promoting hyper-emotionalism rather than true Bible based worship? Please my brothers and sisters, be careful of what you read and don't be afraid to judge things according to God's unchanging Word. If Tommy Tenny is a true God Chaser the evidence will be in his total exhaltation of Jesus Christ and allowing God's Word to be just that, God's Word, sufficient for all times and all people.
Rating: Summary: Life Changing Review: This book is amazing! I've read it several times, and everytime I reread it I discover something new about my relationship with God. Powerful stories, encourgaing words, and it's for real! Tommy Tenney isn't about gimmicks, programs, or making a good impression. He's only about chasing God, seeking God's heart and not His hands. If you want to be radically changed, and hungry for the living God, read this.
Rating: Summary: A Symptom of a Dying Church Review: Tripe. It is difficult for me to understand the influence that such uneducated, and indeed dangerous, teachings such as Tenny can have over many Christians. For Tenny, Chasing God is not the development of a more sophisticated understanding of the relationship of God to Man. Rather, to be a 'God Chaser' is to be someone with an unhealthy addiction to the emotive experiences that are often associated with the Holy Spirit. I like to call this 'Rock Concert Christianity.' In fact, most of the same results that Tenny suggests you should see through Chasing God can be had by attending a particularly good performance by U2. But what makes this a truly terrible book is that Tenny claims, as so many other misguided preachers, the authority of Almighty God. In this, Tenny is unforgivable. Ministers of God should consider with greater seriousness the consequences of their teachings. Tenny sounds good to modern, Veggie-Taled, Christians. This is not a good thing.
Rating: Summary: A must have! Review: ANOINTED! A MUST have. Written mostly for complacent Christians, of which I was one... Too much testimony to share how this has changed my thinking. Not recipe theology, just building a hunger after him. It can come across harsh if you're really not in the mood for seeking all that God has for you. but if you don't know where to start rekindling the passion, start here!
Rating: Summary: TOMMY HAS THE RIGHT IDEA. Review: I must admit when I purchased this book I was skeptical. I had read all the reviews and I fully expected it to be "just hype". But naturally, my curiosity was aroused by the amazing claims of "life-changing effects" and a "revolutionary new walk with God" as a result of reading this book. So I had to try it. Now, I usually don't read too much so-called "Christian literature". I don't buy into 5-minute Salvation and Instant Access to Heaven which is commonly the theme of most religious material. But this book is definitely a thought-provoking work at worst. I agree with much of Tenney's musings. He has the right idea. This book has definitely ignited the wick in my lamp of Hunger for God. Tommy's thirst for the manifest prescence of God is contagious. This book will not change your life overnight as some people have claimed, but it may be the fuel to rekindle your flame. I recommmend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: HUNGRY!!! Review: You know... i dont know what to say about this book. This book really change my life. Yeah, i have to admit it that Tommy change my attitude toward God, he is the one who makes me hungry for God, and he challenge all the reader to be hungry too. And when we are hungry, all i can say is: GET READY, GET READY, GET READY, GOD IS GOING TO SHOW UP!!!
