Rating: Summary: Life Changing!! Review: This book was given to me by a friend that thought I could use it. And use it I did, this book is so encouraging and life altering that I'm now ready to move forward into a more mature experience with Christ. Thank God for Mr.Anderson.
Rating: Summary: weaker Review: This version-the tenth anniversary edition, which has been newly updated and expanded, is missing much of the original content and has been watered down from the original. I was dissapointed in it, it has been changed and is not as explanatory as the original. Much has been added, but much has been taken out.
Rating: Summary: A formative novel, but yet a rookie in some sort. Review: Well, I will not let myself fall into recommending that this book is for everyone in the world. This book is yet reserved for those who trust in Christ and his glory. However amazing it can be, it is flawed and should not be thrusted into nations that practise other religions besides Christianity. Well formative it is, it is not exactly the best to recommend for.
Rating: Summary: Be very careful with this book! Review: While the majority of this work is very well written and changed much of my outlook regarding my daily walk, I found certain aspects of the author's theology to be flawed, and that concerns me; hence, I write this review. The book asserts multiple times that a Christian is not a sinner saved by grace, but rather, a saint who sometimes sins. That's a scary proposition to make in light of the truth that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. No man is a saint: we are all sinners who need God's grace and suffiency to overcome the worldly power than sin holds on us. Without this transendant grace, we would stand no hope for the victory that Dr. Anderson discusses. I've heard that the author's original intent was to make a point about our rebirth in Christ, and how we are reborn in Him. I won't argue with that; however, Dr. Anderson makes no effort to point this out within the context of any of this work. If you are well-versed believer, PLEASE read this work carefully, and do not take everything at its face value. If you a new believer looking for that elusive victory that so many Christians keep telling you about, I might recommend Knowing God by Packer. A similar treatment, without the heretical implications. Please feel free to email me if you'd like to discuss this further.
Rating: Summary: Changed my life forever!!! Review: Why didn't somebody explain this to me earlier?!?! Dr. Anderson explains in terms that I could truly understand, for the first time in 20 years of my Christian life, God's gifts to us, what He wants of us, what he wants to give us and how to really understand the Bible. This is probably the best book I'll ever read in my life because for me it was a guide to reading and understanding the Bible. I also highly recommend the second book in this series The Bondage Breaker.
