Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A nice overview of the bible Review: So many people read from the bible each week, or hear verses in church, and know not much more than the text. This book provides wonderful historical information, understanding not only the text, but how the bible came to be, and events in christian history. A nice overview of the bible.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Lots of great info! You'll learn a lot. Review: The Idiot books manage to pack in lots of info, with sidebars and so on mixed in throughout the book. Every area of the Bible is well-covered. I have kept this as my Bible reference book. The chapter on the Book of Revelation is the first place I've ever seen someone make any sense out of it!
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Well written, but only part of the story Review: There is a serious division within Christianity between conservatives and liberals. This book does an excellent job describing the conservative position in terms that are easy for the public to understand. But, there is also a need for a simlar book written from the liberal position, in order that the public can understand the full diversity of Christian religious expression. Bishop Spong's books "Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism" or "Liberating the Gospels" represent a good balance to this book
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I am using this book in my adult Bible Study class. Review: This book is such a joy! It is written in such an easy-to-read conversational style. It is not laden with facts and figures. The truth of the Bible, though simply written in TCIGTB, is not "watered down". Many, many of the relevant theological truths are illustrated. It serves the purpose of motivating one to want to study further. Very often I found myself putting the book down and going to the Bible to read further on a particular topic. This would also make a grrrrreat gift for novice, and scholar, as well!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Complete Idiot's Guide to the Bible made me an idiot no more Review: This book is wonderfully written in a somewhat humorous vein that made the Bible a very interesting story. This book answered many, many questions that I had over the years and brought the Bible to me in a more objective and practical viewpoint. I highly recommend this book for everyone who is or has been confused by the Bible and for anyone who is seeking faith. A VERY well put together book that should be a textbook for Sunday Schools everywhere.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Awesome Review: This book was a great read. I have read the Bible, and sometimes its a little struggle to comprehend. This book enhanced my knowledge, broke stories down to a simple form and it is a very enjoyable read. It is not, of course, to take place of the Bible itself. Because it is so simplified you will miss some filler if you are not fimilaur with the Bible. I highly recommend this as an enjoyable read to enhance ones Bible experience. peace ;)
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Helpful Review: This book, though written in a very simplistic manner, is a useful guide for those unfamiliar with the teachings of the Bible.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A must read to get more out of the bible !! Review: This is a great book for people who want to read the Bible and don't because they are intimidated by it or just plain don't understand it. It explains how to read the Bible and get the most out of it without interpreting it. I believe that the book is basically unbiased and states more facts about the Bible than it does opinions. Reading the Bible can be fun and enjoyable and should be read by everyone and with the help of this book it can be!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Supplement with The Complete Guide to the Book of Proverbs. Review: This is a wonderful overview of the Bible whose strength is its punchy sense of humor. The comments are insightful, interesting and fun. A great supplement to this book is THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO THE BOOK OF PROVERBS by Cody Jones. Numerous characters from throughout the Bible are pointed out who illustrate King Solomon's witty observations on human nature. Many of the riddles and mysteries of Proverbs are explored with surprising new answers. Proverbs are a treasury of God's wisdom and give practical applications of Biblical values in punchy memorable sayings.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Thank you Review: You helped me overcome my intimidation - Very witty at times! Excellent!
