Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: For Bible Scholars Review: This has to be the best study Bible. Bullinger does not pass judgment on the KJV translation as other study Bibles might. There are ample notes with a wealth of information, and the appendicies present an in-depth study of each subject. (I wish Bullinger would have extended this to the King James Apocrypha, and I wish he would have included the chapter headings that are in the 1611 King James Bible. Also, I wish the words of Christ were in red.) Nonetheless, this is a great study Bible; anybody who watches Arnold Murray's "Shepherd's Chappel" on TV is aware of the importance of this work. This Bible is for serious students only; giving this as a wedding present may not be prudent.

Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Wonderful book, lousy paper and weak printing... Review: I just bought The Companion Bible and ever since I received it, I have hardly put it down. The study helps are a little intimidating at first, but once I took a few minutes to REALLY look through and understand the notes and appendixes, Bullinger's bible quickly became my favorite KJV. There was one thing that I was GREATLY disappointed in and that is the quality of the paper and the printing. It(I'm talking about the Genuine Leather, thumb-indexed version)is NOTHING like all of the newer versions of the bibles currently on the market. I am big on bible marking and I am afraid that this bible simply will not hold up. The paper is VERY thin, almost like a sort of tissue. It really broke my heart when I opened the box and saw this! The printing must not have been changed since Bullinger himself wrote this! It looks like text straight from a type writer! I am SO, SO disappointed with the quality of the printing of this bible, even the ribbons(bookmarks)are a bit cheap! This even prompted me to write Kregel Publishing and express my sorrow that they would not invest a little more into the making of this great bible. I explained that there are a great many loyal followers of the Companion Bible(which is how I heard about it)and they deserve a better quality book. ESPECIALLY when Kregel is charging the SAME as all of the very high-quality KJV bibles on the market today. Sadly, to date, Kregel has not replied to my email, doubtful they will. If not for the WONDERFUL study helps, I would have returned this quickly! But overall, I most definitely recommend buying it, just be ready to replace it with another in a year or so.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The more annotated Bible ? Review: I never saw a more annotated Bible ! It is by far the best reference for Bible study I own for my English Bibles. The works accomplished, in the footnotes (in fact, a second column accompagnying the text; even more dense than the text himself...), and in the appendices is OUTSTANDING. You may have divergent opinion, sometimes, with the Companion Bible, but get this reference and consult it the more you can : it is really a treasure !
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The way to understanding God's word Review: This bible is truly the best bible for gaining a better understanding of God's word. Bullinger gives deep insight and better translations so you can read God's words like they were meant to be. It is made exceptionally well with smudge-proof print and a beautiful, long-lasting, leather cover. The non-large print version is easy to read and there is much room to write notes along the edges. If you are truly interested in learning the real words of God, buy this bible, despite the cost; it is worth every cent.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: READ THIS BIBLE ONLY IF YOU'RE A SCHOLAR Review: I obtained the large print edition. While, I appreciate the expertise Dr. Bullinger placed into translating the text, it is less than helpful for the average Bible student. I've gone back to a Strong's concordance and a Bible Dictionary.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Tigran Review: I highly recommend Bullinger's Companion Bible because of the wealth of massoretic and textual variant information contained in the notes. This is the only English Bible that provides access to a small part of the Massorah. The entire Massorah, compiled from the Manuscripts was produced by the last of the Massorites, the learned Dr C.D. Ginsburg and information about it
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Deeper Study into God's Word Review: This particular Bible is the work of a scholar and its contents reflect this. While very satisfying for those who want to delve deep into the scriptures, it may be a bit overwhelming to those who prefer 'lighter' reading (in which case, I would recommend The New Jerusalem Bible or The Amplified Bible). The Companion Bible contains the complete KJV with very insightful marginal notes that contain gems of information such as breaking back words to their original Hebrew or Greek meaning, and important Old Testament readings are given according to Dr. Ginsburg's Massoretico-Critical Text of the Hebrew Bible. Also within these marginal notes Figures of Speech are noted, the spiritual significance of Numbers is pointed out, and the meanings of names of persons or places is given. The 198 Appendixes contain a wealth of information which is worth getting this Bible for just in itself. The appendixes include in-depth studies on such subjects as:- The Divine Names and Titles- Creation versus Evolution- Figures of Speech- The Spiritual Significance of Numbers- The Serpent of Gen. 3- The Nephilim of Gen. 6- The Massorah- "The Foundation of the World"- The Alleged "Corruptions" of the Hebrew Text. This Bible is a 'must-have' for anyone seeking to increase their knowledge on an academic, historical and/or spiritual level.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: One star for the Word of God...none for Bullinger. Review: Shame on Mr. Bullinger! This Bible has all sorts of margin notes, which consist of the commentator's opinion, not merely explaining a Hebrew custom or clarifying a geographical area. One spends so much time reading Bullinger's opinion, that not much time is left for the Word of God! There are 198 appendix notes! Does the Creator really need that much help?! Mr. Bullinger's opinions lead one to more confusion...instead of clarifying God's word. I do not recommend this study Bible to anyone, especially a person new to the Christian faith. It puts unorthodox thoughts and ideas in a person's head. So much so that many Christian Identity, and other anti-semetic groups rely heavily on this Bible commentary. Those considering this study Bible should be aware of that fact, and do alot of research before buying it.
